1 Ora, estes são os sacerdotes e os levitas que subiram com Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, com Jesua: Seraías, Jeremias, Esdras,2 Amarias, Maluque, Hatus,3 Secanias, Reum, Meremote,4 Ido, Ginetoi, Abias,5 Miamim, Maadias, Bilga,6 Semaías, Joairibe, Jedaías,7 Salu, Amoque, Hilquias, e Jedaías. Estes eram os príncipais dos sacerdotes e de seus irmãos nos dias de Jesua.8 Também os levitas, Jesua, Binei, Cadmiel, Serebias, Judá, e Matanias que com seus irmãos estava encarregado de dar graças.9 Bacbuquias e Uno, seus irmãos, estavam defronte deles por divisões.10 Jesua gerou a Joiaquim, Joiaquim gerou a Eliasibe, Eliasibe gerou a Joiada,11 Joiada gerou a Jônatas e Jônatas gerou a Jadua.12 Nos dias de Joiaquim eram sacerdotes, cabeças de famílias; por Seraías, Meraías; por Jeremias; Hananias;13 por Esdras, Mesulão; por Amarias, Jeoanã;14 Por Maluqui, Jônatas; por Sebanias, José;15 por Marim, Adna; por Meraiote, Helcai;16 por Ido, Zacarias; por Ginetom, Mesulão;17 por Abias, Zicri; por Miniamim..., por Moadias, Piltai;18 por Bilga, Samua; por Semaías, Jônatas;19 por Joiaribe, Matenai; por Jedaías, Uzi;20 por Salai, Calai; por Amoque, Héber;21 por Hilquias, Hasabias; por Jedaías, Netanel.22 Os levitas nos dias de Eliasibe, Joiada, Joanã e Jadua eram registrados, como cabeças de famílias; igualmente os sacerdotes, no reinado de Dario, o persa.23 Os filhos de Levi, cabeças das famílias, foram inscritos nos livros das crônicas, até os dias de Joanã, filho de Eliasibe.24 Os principais dos levitas: Hasabias, Serebias, e Jesua, filho de Cadmiel, e seus irmãos que ficavam defronte deles, divisão contra divisão, eram para louvar e render graças, segundo o mandado de Davi, homem de Deus.25 Matanias, Bacbuquias, Obadias, Mesulão, Talmom e Acube eram porteiros, que vigiavam junto aos celeiros das portas.26 Estes viveram nos dias de Joiaquim, filho de Jesua, filho de Jozadaque e nos dias de Neemias governador, e de Esdras o sacerdote e escriba.27 Ao tempo da dedicação do muro de Jerusalém buscaram os levitas em todos os lugares onde habitavam, para os trazerem a Jerusalém, a fim de celebrarem a dedicação com alegria, ações de graças, canto, címbalos, alaúdes e harpas.28 Ajuntaram-se os filhos dos cantores, tanto do Cicar circunvizinho de Jerusalém, como das vilas dos Netofatitas;29 também de Bete-Gilgal e dos campos de Geba e de Azmavete. Pois os cantores tinham edificado vilas para si ao redor de Jerusalém.30 Purificaram-se os sacerdotes e os levitas que também purificaram o povo e as portas e o muro.31 Então fiz subir os príncipes de Judá sobre o muro, e constituí duas grandes companhias para dar graças e andar em procissão, uma das quais foi à direita sobre o muro em direção à entrada do esterco,32 seguida por Hosaías, metade dos príncipes de Judá,33 Azarias, Esdras Mesulão,34 Judá, Benjamim, Semaías e Jeremias,35 e os seguintes filhos dos sacerdotes, com trombetas: Zacarias, filho de Jônatas, filho de Semaías, filho de Matanias, filho de Micaías, filho de Zacur, filho de Asafe,36 e seus irmãos: Semaías, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netanel, Judá e Hanani, com os instrumentos músicos de Davi, homem de Deus. Esdras, o escriba, estava diante deles.37 À entrada da fonte subiram adiante pelos degraus da cidade de Davi, onde começa a subida do muro, por cima da casa de Davi, até à entrada das águas para o oriente.38 A outra companhia dos que deram graças foi ao encontro deles. Eu os seguia com a metade do povo, sobre o muro. Passando por cima da torre dos fornos, foi-se até o muro largo;39 em seguida por cima da entrada de Efraim, e pela entrada velha e pela entrada dos peixes, e pela torre de Hananeel, e pela torre de Hamea, até a entrada das ovelhas. Pararam na entrada dos da guarda.40 Pararam as duas companhias dos que davam graças na casa de Deus; o mesmo fizemos eu e metade dos magistrados que estavam comigo,41 e os sacerdotes Eliaquim, Maaséias, Miniamim, Micaías, Elioenai, Zacarias, e Hananias, com as trombetas,42 Maaséias, Semaías, Eleazer, Uzi, Jeoanã, Malquias, Elão e Ezer. Os cantores cantavam alto, acompanhando o seu superintendente Jezraías.43 Naquele dia ofereceram grandes sacrifícios, e se regozijaram; pois Deus os fizera regozijar-se com grande gozo. Também as mulheres e as crianças se regozijaram, de sorte que o gozo de Jerusalém se ouviu de longe.44 Naqueles dias foram nomeados superintendentes das câmaras dos tesouros, das contribuições, das primícias e dos dízimos, para nelas recolherem, segundo os campos das cidades, as porções designadas pela lei para os sacerdotes e para os levitas; pois Judá se regozijou por causa dos sacerdotes e dos levitas que estavam no seu posto,45 e observavam os preceitos do seu Deus e da sua purificação, como também o fizeram os cantores e os porteiros, segundo o mandado de Davi e de seu filho Salomão.46 Pois já dantes, nos dias de Davi e de Asa, havia um chefe dos cantores, e cânticos de louvor e de ação de graças a Deus.47 Todo o Israel, nos dias de Zorobabel e nos dias de Neemias, dava aos cantores e aos porteiros as porções de cada dia; e dedicava as porções para os levitas, e os levitas dedicavam as porções para os filhos de Aarão.

1 Now these are the priests and the Levites, that went up with Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Josue: Saraia, Jeremias, Esdras,2 Amaria, Melluch, Hattus,3 Sebenias, Rheum, Merimuth,4 Addo, Genthon, Abia,5 Miamin, Madia, Belga,6 Semeia, and Joiarib, Idaia, Sellum, Amoc, Helcias,7 Idaia. These were the chief of the priests, and of their brethren in the days of Josue.8 And the Levites, Jesua, Bennui, Cedmihel, Sarebia, Juda, Mathanias, they and their brethren were over the hymns:9 And Becbecia, and Hanni, and their brethren every one in his office.10 And Josue beget Joacim, and Joacim beget Eliasib, and Eliasib beget Joiada,11 And Joiada beget Jonathan, and Jonathan beget Jeddoa.12 And in the days of Joacim the priests and heads of the families were : Of Saraia, Maraia: of Jeremias, Hanania:13 Of Esdras, Mosollam: and of Amaria, Johanan:14 Of Milicho, Jonathan: of Sebenia, Joseph:15 Of Haram, Edna: of Maraioth, Helci:16 Of Adaia, Zacharia: of Genthon, Mosollam:17 Of Abia, Zechri: of Miamin and Moadia, Phelti:18 Of Belga, Sammua of Semaia, Jonathan:19 Of Joiarib, Mathanai: of Jodaia, Azzi:20 Of Sellai, Celai: of Amoc, Heber:21 Of Helcias, Hasebia: of Idaia, Nathanael.22 The Levites the chiefs of the families in the days of Eliasib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jeddoa, were recorded, and the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian.23 The sons of Levi, heads of the families were written in the book of Chronicles, even unto the days of Jonathan the son of Eliasib.24 Now the chief of the Levites were Hasebia, Serebia, and Josue the son of Cedmihel: and their brethren by their courses, to praise and to give thanks ac- cording to the commandment of David the man of God, and to wait equally in order.25 Mathania, and Becbecia, Obedia, and Mosollam, Telmon, Accub, were keepers of the gates and of the entrances before the gates.26 These were in the days of Joacim the son of Josue, the son of Josedec, and in the days of Nehemias the governor, and of Esdras the priest and scribe.27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, and to keep the dedication, and to rejoice with thanksgiving, and with singing, and with cymbals, and psalteries and harps.28 And the sons of the singing men were gathered together out of the plain country about Jerusalem, and out of the villages of Nethuphati,29 And from the house of Galgal, and from the countries of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singing men had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.30 And the priests and the Levites purified, and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.31 And I made the princes of Juda go up upon the wall, and I appointed two great choirs to give praise. And they went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dunghill gate.32 And after them went Osaias, and half of the princes of Juda,33 And Azarias, Esdras, and Mosollam, Judas, and Benjamin, and Semeia, and Jeremias.34 And of the sons of the priests with trumpets, Zacharias the son of Jonathan. the son of Semeia, the son of Mathania; the son of Michaia, the son of Zechur, the son of Asaph,35 And his brethren Semeia, and Azareel Malalai, Galalai, Maai, Nathanael, and Judas, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God: and Esdras the scribe before them at the fountain gate.36 And they went up over against them by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall of the house of David, and to the water gate eastward:37 And the second choir of them that gave thanks went on the opposite side, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, and upon the tower of the furnaces, even to the broad wall,38 And above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Emath, and even to the flock gate: and they stood still in the watch gate.39 And the two choirs of them that gave praise stood still at the house of God, and I and the half of the magistrates with me.40 And the priests, Eliachim, Maasia, Miamin, Michea, Elioenai, Zacharia, Hanania with trumpets,41 And Maasia, and Semeia, and Eleazar, and Azzi, and Johanan, and Melchia, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sung loud, and Jezraia was their overseer:42 And they sacrificed on that day great sacrifices, and they rejoiced: for God had made them joyful with great joy: their wives also and their children rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.43 They appointed also in that day men over the storehouses of the treasure, for the libations, and for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, that the rulers of the city might bring them in by them in honour of thanksgiving, for the priests and Levites: for Juda was joyful in the priests and Levites that assisted.44 And they kept the watch of their God, and the observance of expiation, and the singing men, and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.45 For in the days of David and Asaph from the beginning there were chief singers appointed, to praise with canticles, and give thanks to God.46 And all Israel, in the days of Zorobabel, and in the days of Nehemias gave portions to the singing men, and to the porters, day by day, and they sanctified the Levites, and the Levites sanctified the sons of Aaron.
