1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus por vontade de Deus, e Timóteo, nosso irmão,2 aos santos e fiéis irmãos em Cristo que estão em Colossos: Graça a vós e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai.3 Damos graças a Deus, Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, sempre orando por vós,4 desde que ouvimos a vossa fé em Cristo Jesus e o amor que tendes a todos os santos,5 por causa da esperança que vos está guardada nos céus, a qual antes ouvistes pela palavra da verdade do Evangelho6 que tem chegado a vós, como também está em todo o mundo, dando fruto e aumentando, assim como entre vós, desde o dia em que ouvistes e conhecestes a graça de Deus em verdade;7 segundo aprendestes de Epafras, nosso amado conservo, que é por vós fiel ministro de Cristo,8 o qual também nos declarou o vosso amor no Espírito.9 Por isso nós também, desde o dia em que o ouvimos, não cessamos de orar por vós e de pedir que sejais cheios do pleno conhecimento da sua vontade, em toda a sabedoria e entendimento espiritual,10 de sorte que andeis de uma maneira digna do Senhor, agradando-lhe em tudo, frutificando em toda a boa obra e crescendo no pleno conhecimento de Deus,11 sendo fortalecidos com toda a força, segundo o poder da sua glória, em toda a fortaleza e longanimidade,12 dando com alegria graças ao Pai que vos fez idôneos, para participardes da herança dos santos em luz.13 Ele nos resgatou do poder das trevas e nos trasladou para o reino do seu Filho muito amado,14 no qual temos a nossa redenção, a remissão dos nossos pecados;15 e que é a imagem do Deus invisível, o primogênito de toda a criação.16 Pois nele foram criadas todas as coisas nos céus e sobre a terra, as visíveis e as invisíveis, quer sejam tronos quer dominações quer principados quer potestades; todas as coisas têm sido criadas por ele e para ele.17 Ele é antes de todas as coisas e nele subsistem todas as coisas,18 e ele é a cabeça do corpo, da igreja. Ele é o princípio, o primogênito dentre os mortos para que em todas as coisas tenha a primazia,19 porque aprouve a Deus que nele habitasse toda a plenitude,20 e por ele reconciliar todas as coisas a si mesmo, tendo feito paz pelo sangue da sua cruz; por ele, digo, quer as coisas sobre a terra, quer as nos céus.21 Vós, sendo outrora alienados e inimigos no vosso entendimento pelas vossas más obras,22 contudo agora vos reconciliou no corpo da sua carne pela sua morte, para vos apresentar santos e sem defeito e inculpáveis perante ele,23 se é que permaneceis na fé, fundados e firmes e não vos deixando apartar da esperança do Evangelho que ouvistes, e que foi pregado a toda a criatura debaixo do céu, e do qual eu Paulo fui feito ministro.24 Agora me regozijo nos meus sofrimentos por vós, e da minha parte cumpro o que falta das aflições de Cristo na minha carne por seu corpo, que é a igreja,25 da qual eu fui constituído ministro segundo a dispensação de Deus, que me foi dada para convosco, a fim de cumprir a palavra de Deus,26 o mistério que esteve escondido dos séculos e das gerações; mas agora foi descoberto a seus santos,27 a quem aprouve a Deus fazer conhecer quais são as riquezas da glória deste mistério entre os gentios, que é em vós Cristo, esperança da glória,28 a quem nós anunciamos, admoestando e ensinando a todo o homem em toda a sabedoria, para que apresentemos todo o homem perfeito em Cristo;29 para o que também eu trabalho, esforçando-me segundo a sua operação, que obra poderosamente em mim.

1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,2 to the holy and faithful brothers in Colossae who are in union with Christ.May grace and peace from God our Father be yours!3 We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,4 because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints,5 based on the hope laid up for you in heaven. Some time ago you heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel6 that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and spreading all over the world, so it has been doing among you from the day you heard it and came to know the grace of God in truth.7 You learned about this gospel from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf.8 He has told us about your love in the Spirit.9 For this reason, since the day we heard about this, we have not stopped praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the full knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 so that you might live in a manner worthy of the Lord and be fully pleasing to him as you bear fruit in every good work and grow in the full knowledge of God.11 You are being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might, so that you might patiently endure everything with joy12 and might thank the Father, who has enabled us to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.13 He has rescued us from the power of darkness and has brought us into the kingdom of the Son whom he loves.14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For by him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether they are kings, lords, rulers, or powers. All things have been created through him and for him.17 He himself existed before all things, and by him all things hold together.18 He is also the head of the body, which is the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself might have first place in everything.19 For God was pleased to have all of his fullness live in him.20 Through him he also reconciled all things to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, thus making peace through the blood of his cross.21 You who were once alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,22 he has now reconciled by the death of his physical body so that he might present you holy, blameless, and without fault before him.23 However, you must remain firmly established and steadfast in the faith, without being moved from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.24 Now I am rejoicing in my sufferings for you and completing in my flesh whatever remains of Christ's sufferings on behalf of his body, which is the church.25 I became its servant according to God's commission that was given to me for you, so that I might fulfill the ministry of the word of God.26 This secret was hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints,27 to whom God wanted to make known the glorious riches of this secret among the Gentiles—which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.28 It is he whom we proclaim as we admonish everyone and teach everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.29 I work hard and struggle to do this according to his energy that powerfully works in me.
