1 Ora os filhos de Israel segundo o seu número, a saber, os cabeças das famílias, e os capitães de mil e de cem, e seus oficiais que serviram ao rei em qualquer negócio das turmas que entravam e saíam cada mês durante todos os meses do ano, eram em cada turma vinte e quatro mil.2 Sobre a primeira turma no primeiro mês estava Jasobeão, filho de Zabdiel; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.3 Era ele dos filhos de Perez, e chefe de todos os capitães do exército no primeiro mês.4 Sobre a turma do segundo mês estava Dodai aoíta...e sua turma, Miclote comandava, e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.5 O terceiro capitão do exército no terceiro mês era Benaia, filho do sacerdote Joiada, chefe, e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.6 Este é aquele Benaia, que era o homem poderoso entre os trinta, e comandante dos trinta; e da sua turma era seu filho Amizabade.7 O quarto capitão no quarto mês era Asael, irmão de Joabe, e depois dele Zebadias, seu filho; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.8 O quinto capitão no quinto mês era Samute izraíta; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.9 O sexto capitão no sexto mês era Ira, filho de Iques tecoíta; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.10 O sétimo capitão no sétimo mês era Helez pelonita, dos filhos de Efraim; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.11 O oitavo capitão no oitavo mês era Sibecai husatita, dos zeraítas; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.12 O nono capitão no nono mês era Abiezer anatotita, dos benjamitas; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.13 O décimo capitão no décimo mês era Maarai netofatita, dos zeraítas; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.14 O undécimo capitão no undécimo mês era Benaia piratonita, dos filhos de Efraim; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.15 O duodécimo capitão no duodécimo mês era Heldai netofatita, de Otniel; e na sua turma havia vinte e quatro mil.16 Além disso sobre as tribos de Israel: sobre os rubenitas era chefe Eliezer, filho de Zicri; sobre os simeonitas, Sefatias, filho de Maaca;17 sobre Levi, Hasabias, filho de Quemuel; sobre Arão, Zadoque;18 sobre Judá, Eliú, um dos irmãos de Davi; sobre Issacar, Onri, filho de Micael;19 sobre Zebulom, Irmaías, filho de Obadias; sobre Naftali, Jeremote, filho de Azriel;20 sobre os filhos de Efraim, Oséias, filho de Azazias; sobre a meia tribo de Manassés, Joel, filho de Pedaías;21 sobre a meia tribo de Manassés em Gileade, Ido, filho de Zacarias; sobre Benjamim, Jaasiel, filho de Abner;22 e sobre Dã, Azarel, filho de Jeroão. Estes eram capitães das tribos de Israel.23 Mas Davi não contou os que eram de vinte anos e daí para baixo, porque Jeová tinha dito que multiplicaria a Israel como as estrelas do céu.24 Joabe, filho de Zeruia, tinha começado a fazer a resenha, porém não acabou (e por isso veio ira sobre Israel), nem foi o número posto no livro das crônicas do rei Davi.25 Sobre os tesouros do rei estava Azmavete, filho de Adiel; sobre os tesouros nos campos, nas cidades, nas vilas e nos castelos Jônatas, filho de Uzias;26 sobre os que faziam a obra do campo, na lavoura da terra, estava Ezri, filho de Quelube;27 sobre as vinhas, Simei, ramatita; sobre o que era das vinhas nas adegas, Zabdi sifmita;28 sobre os olivais e sicômoros, que havia nas campinas, Baal-Hanã, gederita; sobre os armazéns de azeite, Joás;29 sobre os gados que pastavam em Sarom, Sitrai saronita; sobre os gados que estavam nos vales, Safate, filho de Adlai;30 sobre os camelos, Obil ismaelita; sobre os jumentos, Jedias meronotita;31 e sobre os rebanhos, Jaziz hagareno. Todos estes eram os intendentes da fazenda do rei Davi.32 Jônatas, tio de Davi, era conselheiro, homem entendido e escriba; Jeiel, filho de Hacmoni, estava com os filhos do rei;33 Aitofel era conselheiro do rei; Husai arquita era privado do rei;34 depois de Aitofel eram Joiada, filho de Benaia, e Abiatar; e o capitão do exército do rei era Joabe.

1 This is a list of Israelite family heads, regiment and battalion commanders, and officers who were serving the king in all the army’s units. Throughout each year they came for a month at a time and then left. Each unit consisted of twenty-four thousand men.2 Jashobeam, son of Zabdiel, was in charge of the first unit, the one during the first month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.3 He was a descendant of Perez, and he was head of all of the army’s officers for the first month.4 Dodai, Ahoh’s descendant, was in charge of the unit during the second month. It was his unit. Mikloth was one of its leaders. In Dodai’s unit there were twenty-four thousand.5 The third commander of the army during the third month was Benaiah, son of the priest Jehoiada. He was the head, and in his unit there were twenty-four thousand.6 This Benaiah was one of the thirty fighting men and commander of the thirty as well as his own unit. His son was Ammizabad.7 Asahel, Joab’s brother, was in charge of the fourth unit during the fourth month, and after him was his son Zebadiah. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.8 Shamhuth, Izrah’s descendant, was commander of the fifth unit during the fifth month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.9 Ira, the son of Ikkesh from Tekoa, was in charge of the sixth unit during the sixth month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.10 Helez, a Pelonite from the descendants of Ephraim, was in charge of the seventh unit during the seventh month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.11 Sibbecai, a descendant of Zerah from Hushah, was in charge of the eighth unit during the eighth month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.12 Abiezer, a member of the tribe of Benjamin from Anathoth, was in charge of the ninth unit during the ninth month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.13 Mahrai, a descendant of Zerah from Netophah, was in charge of the tenth unit during the tenth month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.14 Benaiah, a member of the tribe of Ephraim from Pirathon, was in charge of the eleventh unit during the eleventh month. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.15 During the twelfth month, the twelfth unit was commanded by Heldai from Netophah. He was Othniel’s descendant. In his unit there were twenty-four thousand.16 The following officers were in charge of the tribes of Israel: for the tribe of Reuben- Eliezer, son of Zichri for the tribe of Simeo, Shephatiah, son of Maacah17 for the tribe of Levi, Hashabiah, son of Kemuel for the family of Aaron, Zadok18 for the tribe of Judah, Elihu, one of David’s brothers for the tribe of Issachar, Omri, son of Michael19 for the tribe of Zebulun, Ishmaiah, son of Obadiah for the tribe of Naphtali, Jerimoth, son of Azriel20 for the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea, son of Azaziah for half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joel, son of Pedaiah21 for the half of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo, son of Zechariah for the tribe of Benjamin- Jaasiel, son of Abner22 for the tribe of Dan, Azarel, son of Jeroham These were the commanders of Israel’s tribes.23 David did not count those less than twenty years old, because Jehovah promised that the people of Israel would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.24 Joab, son of Zeruiah, started to count them but did not finish. God was angry with Israel because of this, and the report from it was never included in the official records of King David.25 These were all the commanders in charge of King David’s property: for the royal treasuries, Azmaveth, son of Adiel for the goods in the fields, cities, villages, and watchtowers- Jonathan, son of Uzziah26 for the farm workers in the fields, Ezri, son of Chelub27 for the vineyards, Shimei from Ramah for storing wine that came from the vineyards- Zabdi from Shepham28 for the olive and fig trees in the foothills, Baal Hanan from Gedor for storing olive oil- Joash29 for the herds grazing in Sharon, Shitrai from Sharon for the herds in the valleys- Shaphat, son of Adlai30 for the camels, Obil, a descendant of Ishmael for the donkeys, Jehdeiah from Meronoth31 for the flocks, Jaziz from Hagar32 David’s uncle Jonathan, an educated man who possessed insight, was David’s adviser. Jonathan and Jehiel, son of Hachmoni, were in charge of the king’s sons.33 Ahithophel was the king’s adviser. Hushai, a descendant of Archi, was the king’s friend.34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahithophel. Joab was the commander of the royal army.
