1 Veio a mim a palavra de Jeová, dizendo:2 Filho do homem, vira o teu rosto para os montes de Israel, e profetiza contra eles,3 dizendo: Montes de Israel, ouvi a palavra do Senhor Jeová. Assim diz o Senhor Jeová aos montes e aos outeiros, às ravinas e aos vales: Eis que eu, eu farei vir sobre vós a espada, e destruirei os vossos altos.4 Os vossos altares serão desolados, e as vossas imagens do sol serão quebradas; e arrojarei os vossos mortos diante dos vossos ídolos.5 Porei os cadáveres dos filhos de Israel diante dos seus ídolos, e espalharei os vossos ossos ao redor dos vossos altares.6 Em todos os lugares onde habitardes serão destruídas as cidades, e desolados os altos; para que os vossos altares sejam destruídos e fiquem desolados, e os vossos ídolos sejam quebrados e deixem de existir, e as vossas imagens do sol sejam cortadas, e as vossas obras sejam extintas.7 Os mortos cairão no meio de vós e sabereis que eu sou Jeová.8 Contudo deixarei um resto, visto que tereis alguns que escaparão da espada entre as nações, quando fordes espalhados pelos países.9 Os que dentre vós escaparem, se lembrarão de mim entre as nações para onde forem levados cativos, quando eu tiver quebrado o seu coração fornicário que se desvia de mim, e os seus olhos que se prostituem indo após os seus ídolos. Eles terão nojo de si mesmos por causa dos males que têm praticado em todas as suas abominações.10 Saberão que eu sou Jeová; não disse debalde que lhes havia de fazer este mal.11 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Por causa de todas as péssimas abominações da casa de Israel, bate com as mãos, e pateia com os pés, e dize: Ah! pois eles hão de perecer pela espada, pela fome e pela peste.12 Aquele que está longe morrerá de peste; aquele que está perto cairá pela espada; e aquele que fica e é sitiado morrerá de fome. Assim cumprirei neles o meu furor.13 Sabereis que eu sou Jeová, quando os seus mortos estiverem estendidos no meio dos seus ídolos à roda dos seus altares, em todos os outeiros elevados, em todos os cumes dos montes, e debaixo de todas as árvores verdes e debaixo de todos os terebintos frondosos, lugares onde ofereciam sacrifícios de suave cheiro a todos os seus ídolos.14 Estenderei sobre eles a minha mão, e farei a terra desolada e erma, desde o deserto até Dibla, em todas as suas habitações; e saberão que eu sou Jeová.

1 Jehovah continued to speak his word to me:2 »Son of man, look toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy against them.3 »Say this: ‘You mountains of Israel listen to the word of the Lord Jehovah! This is what the Lord Jehovah says to the mountains and hills and to the ravines and valleys: »I am going to attack you with a sword and destroy your worship sites.4 ‘»Your altars will be destroyed! Your incense burners will be smashed. I will kill your people in front of your idols.5 ‘»I will lay the dead bodies of the people of Israel in front of your idols. I will even scatter their bones around your altars.6 ‘»Your dwelling places in the cities will be ruined, and the worship sites will be wrecked. Your altars will be ruined and demolished. Your idols will be smashed and completely destroyed. Your incense burners will be cut down. Everything you have done will be wiped out.7 ‘»Your people will be killed and they will fall among you. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.8 ‘»However, I will let some people live. Some people will escape the battle among the nations and be scattered throughout the countries.9 »Then those who escape will remember me among the nations where they are taken captive. I was hurt by their adulterous hearts, which turned away from me, and by their eyes, which lusted after idols. They will hate themselves for the evil and disgusting things that they have done.10 »Then you will know that I am Jehovah and that the disaster I promised was not an empty threat.« ’11 »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and say, ‘How sad!’ The people of Israel have done evil and disgusting things. So they will die in wars, famines, and plagues.12 ‘»Plagues will kill those who are far away. Those who are near will die in wars. Anyone who is left and has escaped will die of famine. This is how I will unleash my rage.13 »Then you will know that I am Jehovah. Those who are killed will lie beside the idols around their altars. They will lie on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, and under every large tree and every leafy oak. These are the places where they made offerings to their disgusting idols.14 ‘»I will stretch out my hand use my power against them and destroy the land from the desert to Diblah. THEN THEY WILL KNOW THAT I AM JEHOVAH!’«
