1 Quando vierem sobre ti todas estas coisas, a bênção e a maldição, que pus diante de ti, e te recordares delas entre todas as nações, para onde Jeová teu Deus te houver lançado,2 e tornares para Jeová teu Deus, e obedeceres à sua voz, segundo tudo o que eu hoje te ordeno, tu e teus filhos, de todo o teu coração e de toda a tua alma;3 Jeová teu Deus mudará a tua sorte, e se compadecerá de ti, e tornará a ajuntar-te de todos os povos, para onde Jeová teu Deus te houver espalhado.4 Se algum dos teus desterrados estiver nas extremidades do céu, dali te ajuntará Jeová teu Deus, e dali te tomará;5 Jeová teu Deus te introduzirá na terra que teus pais possuíram, e a possuirás; e te fará bem e te multiplicará mais do que a teus pais.6 Jeová teu Deus circuncidará o teu coração, e o coração da tua semente, para que ames a Jeová teu Deus de todo o teu coração e de toda a tua alma, a fim de que vivas.7 Jeová teu Deus porá todas estas imprecações sobre os teus inimigos, e sobre os que te odeiam, os quais te perseguiram.8 Voltarás e obedecerás à voz de Jeová, e observarás todos os seus mandamentos que eu hoje te ordeno.9 Jeová teu Deus te fará abundar até a prosperidade em todas as obras das tuas mãos, no fruto do teu ventre, no fruto do teu gado e no fruto do teu solo. Jeová tornará a alegrar-se em ti para te fazer bem, como se alegrou em teus pais;10 quando obedeceres à voz de Jeová teu Deus para guardares os seus mandamentos e os seus estatutos que estão escritos neste livro da lei; quando voltares a Jeová teu Deus de todo o teu coração e de toda a tua alma.11 Porque este mandamento que eu hoje te ordeno não é demasiado difícil para ti, nem está longe de ti.12 Não está no céu, para que digas: Quem subirá por nós ao céu, e nô-lo trará e nô-lo fará ouvir, para que o observemos?13 Nem está além do mar, para que digas: Quem passará por nós o mar, e nô-lo trará, e nô-lo fará ouvir, para que o observemos?14 Mas a palavra está muito perto de ti, na tua boca e no teu coração, para que a observes.15 Vê que hoje te propus a vida e o bem, a morte e o mal.16 Se guardares o mandamento, que eu hoje te ordeno, de amar a Jeová teu Deus, de andar nos seus caminhos, e de guardar os seus mandamentos, os seus estatutos e os seus juízos, então viverás e te multiplicarás, e Jeová teu Deus te abençoará na terra na qual tu estás entrando para a possuíres.17 Porém, se o teu coração se desviar, e tu não quiseres ouvir, mas fores seduzido, e adorares outros deuses e os servires;18 declaro-vos hoje que sem falta perecereis. Não prolongareis os vossos dias na terra, para entrar na qual vós ides passar o Jordão, a fim de a possuirdes.19 Chamo hoje o céu e a terra por testemunhas contra ti, que te propus a vida e a morte, a bênção e a maldição. Escolhe a vida para que vivas, tu e a tua semente,20 amando a Jeová teu Deus, obedecendo à sua voz e apegando-te a ele; pois isso é a tua vida, e o prolongamento dos teus dias. Escolhe a vida para que habites na terra que Jeová prometeu com juramento a teus pais, a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó, que lhes havia de dar.

1 »All these blessings and curses I have spoken about will happen to you. Take them to heart when you are among all the nations where Jehovah your God will scatter you.2 »If you and your children return to Jehovah your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your being, doing everything I command you today,3 he will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you from all the nations of the world where he has scattered you.4 »Jehovah your God will gather you from the ends of the earth. He will bring you back.5 »Jehovah your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed. You will possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.6 »Jehovah your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, to LOVE JEHOVAH YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR BEING, that you may live.7 »Jehovah your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you and who persecute you.8 »You shall again obey Jehovah, and observe all his commandments that I command you today.9 »Jehovah your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand. In the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, you will prosper. Jehovah will again rejoice over you for good, just as he rejoiced over your fathers;10 if you obey Jehovah your God to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to Jehovah your God with all your heart with all your being.11 »This commandment that I command you today is not too difficult for you. It is not out of reach.12 »It is not in heaven, that you should say: Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may obey it?13 »This commandment is not on the other side of the sea. You do not have to ask: Who will cross the sea to get it for us so that we can hear it and obey it?14 »No, these words are very near you. They are in your mouth and in your heart so that you will obey them.15 »I set before you today life and good, death and evil.16 »I command you today to Love Jehovah your God, follow his directions, and obey his commandments, laws, and rules. Then you will live, your population will increase, and Jehovah your God will bless you in the land that you are about to enter and possess.17 »If your hearts turn away, and you do not listen, you might be tempted to bow down to other gods and worship them.18 »If you do, I tell you today that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live for a long time in the land that you are about to possess when you cross the Jordan River.19 »I call on heaven and earth as witnesses today that I have offered you life or death, blessings or curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants will live.20 »LOVE JEHOVAH YOUR GOD, OBEY HIM, AND BE LOYAL TO HIM. THIS WILL BE YOUR WAY OF LIFE. It will mean a long life for you in the land that Jehovah swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
