1 Tu, filho do homem, profetiza aos montes de Israel, e dize: Montes de Israel, eis a palavra de Jeová.2 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Porquanto o inimigo disse contra vós: Ah! e também: Os antigos lugares altos são nossos para os possuirmos;3 portanto profetiza e dize: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Porquanto, sim porquanto vos assolaram, e vos devoraram de todos os lados, para que servísseis de posse ao resto das nações, e tendes andado em lábios de paroleiros, e chegado a ser a infâmia do povo;4 portanto, montes de Israel, ouvi a palavra do Senhor Jeová aos montes e aos outeiros, às correntes de água e aos vales, aos desertos desolados, e às cidades desamparadas, que se tornaram em presa e em opróbrio ao resto das nações circunvizinhas.5 Portanto assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Certamente no fogo do meu zelo falei contra o resto das nações, e contra todo o Edom, que apropriaram a si a minha terra por posse com o gozo de todo o seu coração, com despeito de alma, para a lançarem fora à rapina.6 Portanto profetiza acerca da terra de Israel, e dize aos montes e aos outeiros, às correntes de água e aos vales: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eis que falei no meu zelo e no meu furor, porque levastes sobre vós o opróbrio dos pagãos;7 por isso assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Eu levantei a minha mão, dizendo: Certamente os pagãos que estão ao redor de vós, levarão sobre si o seu opróbrio.8 Mas vós, ó montes de Israel, produzireis os vossos ramos e dareis o vosso fruto ao meu povo de Israel; pois já estão para vir.9 Eis que eu vos sou favorável, e me voltarei para vós, e sereis lavrados e semeados;10 multiplicarei os homens sobre vós, toda a casa de Israel, sim toda ela. As cidades serão habitadas, e as solidões serão edificadas.11 Sobre vós multiplicarei homens e animais; eles se aumentarão e frutificarão. Farei que sejais habitadas como dantes, e vos tratarei melhor do que nos vossos princípios; e sabereis que eu sou Jeová.12 Na verdade sobre vós farei andar homens, o meu povo de Israel. Eles te possuirão, e tu serás a sua herança, e daqui em diante não os privarás mais de filhos.13 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Porquanto vos dizem: Tu és uma terra que devora os homens, e tens sido a que privas de filhos a tua nação;14 por isso não devorarás mais os homens, nem privarás mais de filhos a tua nação, diz o Senhor Jeová.15 Não te permitirei ouvir mais a afronta dos pagãos, nem levarás mais sobre ti o opróbrio dos povos; nem farás tropeçar mais a tua nação, diz o Senhor Jeová.16 Demais veio a mim a palavra de Jeová, dizendo:17 Filho do homem, quando a casa de Israel habitava na sua terra, contaminaram-na pelo seu caminho e pelos seus feitos. O seu caminho diante de mim tornou-se como a imundícia duma mulher na sua separação.18 Pelo que derramei sobre eles o meu furor por causa do sangue que haviam derramado sobre a terra, e porque a tinham contaminado com os seus ídolos.19 Eu os espalhei entre as nações, e foram dispersos pelos países; segundo o seu caminho e segundo os seus feitos os julguei.20 Quando chegaram às nações, para onde foram, profanaram o meu santo nome; porquanto se dizia deles: Estes são o povo de Jeová, que saiu da sua terra.21 Porém tive compaixão do meu santo nome, ao qual a casa de Israel profanara entre as nações, para onde foram.22 Portanto dize à casa de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Não é por amor de vós, casa de Israel, que eu faço isto; mas é em atenção ao meu santo nome, que tendes profanado entre as nações, para onde fostes.23 Santificarei o meu grande nome, que tem sido profanado entre as nações, o qual tendes profanado no meio deles; as nações saberão que eu sou Jeová, diz o Senhor Jeová, quando eu for santificado em vós diante dos seus olhos.24 Pois vos tirarei dentre as nações, e vos congregarei de todos os países, e vos trarei para a vossa terra.25 Aspergirei sobre vós água pura, e ficareis purificados; de toda a vossa imundícia, e de todos os vossos ídolos, vos purificarei.26 Também vos darei um coração novo, e dentro de vós porei um espírito novo; tirarei da vossa carne o coração de pedra, e dar-vos-ei um coração de carne.27 Dentro de vós porei o meu espírito, e farei que andeis nos meus estatutos, e guardareis os meus juízos e os praticareis.28 Habitareis na terra que dei a vossos pais; vós sereis o meu povo, e eu serei o vosso Deus.29 Livrar-vos-ei de todas as vossas impurezas; chamarei o trigo, e o multiplicarei, e não trarei fome sobre vós.30 Multiplicarei o fruto das árvores, e a novidade do campo, para que não recebais mais o opróbrio da fome entre as nações.31 Então vos lembrareis dos vossos maus caminhos, e dos vossos feitos que não eram bons; tereis nojo em vós mesmos das vossas iniqüidades e das vossas abominações.32 Não é por amor de vós que eu faço isto, diz o Senhor Jeová, seja-vos isto bem entendido. Envergonhai-vos e confundi-vos sobre os vossos caminhos, ó casa de Israel.33 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: No dia em que vos purificar de todas as vossas iniqüidades, farei que sejam habitadas as cidades, e edificadas as solidões.34 A terra que estava desolada será lavrada, em lugar de ser uma desolação aos olhos de todos os que por ela passavam.35 Dir-se-á: Esta terra que estava desolada, tem-se tornado como o jardim do Éden; e as cidades desertas e desoladas e arruinadas estão fortalecidas e habitadas.36 Então as nações que tiverem ficado ao redor de vós, saberão que eu Jeová reedifiquei os lugares arruinados, e plantei o que estava desolado. Eu Jeová o disse, e o farei.37 Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Ainda por isso serei consultado da casa de Israel, para que eu lhes faça isto; multiplicá-los-ei de homens, como um rebanho.38 Como o rebanho para sacrifícios, como o rebanho de Jerusalém nas suas festas fixas; assim as cidades desertas serão cheias de rebanhos de homens; e eles saberão que eu sou Jeová.

1 »Son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say: ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of Jehovah.2 ‘»‘The Lord Jehovah says: »Because the enemy has spoken against you, aha! And the everlasting heights have become our possession.3 »Therefore prophesy and say: ‘The Lord Jehovah says: For good reason they have made you desolate and crushed you from every side. That way you would become a possession of the rest of the nations and you have become a subject of conversation for the people.4 ‘»‘Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah. The Lord Jehovah says to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the forsaken cities that have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations that are round about,5 ‘»‘The Lord Jehovah says: ‘Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who appropriated my land for themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and with scorn, to drive it out for a prey.’« ’6 »Prophesy about Israel and tell the mountains and hills and the ravines and valleys: ‘This is what the Lord Jehovah says: »I am speaking in my anger and fury because you have been insulted by the nations.7 »This is what the Lord Jehovah says: ‘I raise my hand and swear that the nations that surround you will be insulted.8 »‘But you, mountains of Israel, will grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel. My people will come home soon.9 »‘I am for you. I will turn to you, and you will be plowed and planted.10 »‘I will increase the number of people who live on you. All the people of Israel, all of them, will live on you. The cities will be inhabited, and the ruins will be rebuilt.11 »‘I will increase the number of people and animals that live on you. They will grow and become many. I will let people live on you as in the past, and I will make you better off than ever before. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.12 »‘I will bring people, my people Israel, to you. They will take possession of you, and you will be their inheritance. You will no longer take their children away from them.’«13 »The Lord Jehovah says: ‘People say that you devour your people and take the children away from your nation.« ’14 ‘You will no longer devour your people or take the children away from your nation, proclaims the Lord Jehovah.15 ‘I will no longer let you hear the insults from the nations. You will no longer suffer the disgrace of the people. You will never again take the children away from your own nation, proclaims the Lord Jehovah.«16 Jehovah continued to speak his word to me, He said:17 »Son of man, when the people of Israel lived in their land, they dishonored it by the way they lived and by everything they did. Their ways were as unclean as a woman's menstrual period.18 »Therefore I poured out my fury on them because they poured out blood on the land and they dishonored the land with their idols.19 »I forced them into other nations. They became scattered among the nations. I judged them based on the way that they lived and based on everything that they had done.20 »Wherever they went among the nations, they dishonored my holy name. People said about them: ‘These are Jehovah’s people, yet they had to leave his land.’21 »I became concerned about my holy name because my people dishonored it among the nations wherever they went.« (Romans 2:21-24)22 »So tell the people of Israel, ‘the Lord Jehovah says: »I am about to do something, people of Israel. I will not do this for your sake but for the sake of my holy name, which you have dishonored among the nations wherever you have gone.« ’23 »I will reveal the holiness of my great name, which has been dishonored by the nations. It is the name that you have dishonored among them. Then the nations will know that I am Jehovah. This is because I will reveal my holiness among you as they watch,’ declares the Lord Jehovah.24 »I will take you from the nations and gather you from every country. I will bring you back to your own land.25 »I will sprinkle clean water on you and make you clean instead of unclean. Then I will cleanse you from all your idols.26 »I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove your stubborn hearts and give you obedient hearts.27 »I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my Laws, and you will obey my rules.28 »Then you will live in the land that I gave your ancestors. You will be my people, and I will be your God.’29 »‘I will rescue you from all your uncleanness. I will make the grain grow so that you will never again have famines.30 »‘I will make fruit grow on the trees and crops grow in the fields so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famines.31 »‘Then you will remember your evil ways and the bad things that you did. You will hate yourselves for all these wicked and disgusting things.32 »‘I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake,’ proclaims the Lord Jehovah. ‘Be ashamed and disgraced because of your ways, people of Israel.’33 »This is what the Lord Jehovah says: ‘On the day that I cleanse you from all your wickedness, I will cause your cities to be lived in again, and your ruins will be rebuilt.34 The wasteland will be cultivated. It will no longer remain empty for everyone passing by to see.35 People will say: »This wasteland has become like the Garden of Eden. The cities were destroyed. They were empty and ruined, but now they are fortified and have people living in them.36 ‘The surrounding nations that are left will know that I, Jehovah, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted crops in the land that was empty. I, Jehovah, have spoken, and I have done it.’37 »This is what the Lord Jehovah says: ‘I will also let the people of Israel ask me to make them as numerous as sheep.38 »They will be like the sheep for sacrifices, like the sheep in Jerusalem during the appointed festivals. Their ruined cities will be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am Jehovah.’«
