1 Disse Jeová a Moisés:2 Fala aos filhos de Israel: Se uma mulher tiver o seu parto, e der à luz um menino, será imunda sete dias; como nos dias da impureza da sua enfermidade será imunda.3 Ao oitavo dia a carne de prepúcio do menino será circuncidada.4 Ela permanecerá trinta e três dias no sangue da sua purificação; em nenhuma coisa sagrada tocará, nem entrará no santuário, até que se cumpram os dias da sua purificação.5 Mas, se der à luz uma menina, será imunda duas semanas, como na sua impureza; e permanecerá sessenta e seis dias no sangue da sua purificação.6 Quando forem cumpridos os dias da sua purificação, ou por filho, ou por filha, trará até a entrada da tenda da revelação ao sacerdote um cordeiro de um ano para holocausto, e um pombinho, ou uma rola, para oferta pelo pecado.7 O sacerdote o oferecerá diante de Jeová, e fará expiação por ela; e ela será purificada da fonte do seu sangue. Esta é a lei da que dá à luz um filho ou uma filha.8 Se as suas posses não lhe permitirem trazer um cordeiro, tomará duas rolas, ou dois pombinhos: um para holocausto, o outro para oferta pelo pecado. O sacerdote fará expiação por ela, e ela será limpa.

1 Jehovah spoke to Moses:2 »Tell the Israelites: ‘When a woman gives birth to a boy, she will be unclean for seven days. This is the same number of days she is unclean for her monthly period.3 »‘The boy must be circumcised when he is eight days old.4 »‘She must stay at home for thirty-three days in order to be made clean from her bleeding. She must not touch anything holy or go into the holy place until the days needed to make her clean are over.5 »‘When a woman gives birth to a girl, she will be unclean as in her monthly period. She will be unclean for two weeks. Then she must stay at home for sixty-six days in order to be made clean from her bleeding.6 »‘When the days needed to make her clean are over, she must bring a one-year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a pigeon or a mourning dove as an offering for sin. She should bring them to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.7 »‘The priest will offer them in Jehovah’s presence to pay compensation for sin and make peace with Jehovah for her. Then she will be clean from her flow of blood. These are the instructions for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl.8 »‘If she cannot afford a lamb, she must use two mourning doves or two pigeons. One will be the burnt offering and the other the offering for sin. So the priest will pay compensation for sin and make peace with Jehovah for her and she will be clean.’«
