1 A mão do Senhor desceu sobre mim. Ele me arrebatou em espírito e me colocou no meio de uma planície, que estava coberta de ossos.2 Ele fez-me circular em todos os sentidos no meio desses ossos numerosos que jaziam na superfície. Vi que estavam inteiramente secos.3 Disse-me o Senhor: filho do homem, poderiam esses ossos retornar à vida? Senhor Javé, respondi, só vós o sabeis.4 Ele disse-me então: Profere um oráculo sobre esses ossos. Ossos dessecados, dir-lhes-ás tu, escutai a palavra do Senhor:5 Eis o que vos declara o Senhor Javé: vou fazer reentrar em vós o sopro da vida para vos fazer reviver.6 Porei em vós músculos, farei vir carne sobre vós, cobrir-vos-ei de pele; depois farei entrar em vós o sopro da vida, a fim de que revivais. E sabereis assim que eu sou o Senhor.7 Profetizei, pois, assim como tinha recebido ordem. No momento em que comecei, um barulho se fez ouvir, em seguida um ruído ensurdecedor, enquanto os ossos se vinham unir aos outros.8 Prestando atenção, vi que se formavam sobre eles músculos, que nascia neles carne e que uma pele os recobria. Todavia, não tinham espírito.9 Profetiza ao espírito, disse-me o Senhor, profetiza, filho do homem, e dirige-te ao espírito: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vem, espírito, dos quatro cantos do céu, sopra sobre esses mortos para que revivam.10 Proferi o oráculo que ele me havia ditado, e daí a pouco o espírito penetrou neles. Retornando à vida, eles se levantaram sobre seus pés: um grande, um imenso exército.11 Então o Senhor me disse: filho do homem, esses ossos são toda a raça dos israelitas. Eles dizem: nossos ossos estão secos, nossa esperança está morta; estamos perdidos!12 Por isso, dirige-lhes o seguinte oráculo: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: ó meu povo, vou abrir os vossos túmulos; eu vos farei sair deles para vos transportar à terra de Israel.13 Sabereis então que eu é que sou o Senhor, ó meu povo, quando eu abrir os vossos túmulos e vos fizer sair deles,14 quando eu meter em vós o meu espírito para vos fazer voltar à vida e quando vos hei de restabelecer em vossa terra. Sabereis então que sou eu o Senhor, que o disse e o executei - oráculo do Senhor.15 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:16 filho do homem, toma um pedaço de madeira e escreve nele: Judá e os israelitas que estão com ele. Em seguida, tomarás outro no qual escreverás: José, madeira de Efraim, e todos os israelitas que estão com ele.17 Em seguida, os ajuntarás um ao outro, de modo que só formem um pedaço em tua mão.18 Quando teus compatriotas te perguntarem o que queres dizer com isso,19 responderás: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou tomar o lenho de José, que está na mão de Efraim, assim como as tribos de Israel que estão com ele, para juntá-lo ao lenho de Judá, de modo que, unidos na mão, não sejam senão um.20 Guardarás ostensivamente na mão os pedaços de madeira em que houveres feito essas inscrições,21 e tu dirás: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: vou recolher os israelitas de entre as nações onde se acham dispersos; vou congregá-los de toda parte e trazê-los para a sua terra.22 Farei com que, em sua terra, sobre as montanhas de Israel, não formem mais do que uma só nação, que não possuam mais do que um rei. Não mais existirá a divisão em dois povos e em dois reinos.23 Não mais se mancharão com seus ídolos nem cometerão infames abominações: libertá-los-ei de todas as transgressões de que se tornaram culpados e purificá-los-ei. Eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus.24 Meu servo Davi será o seu rei; não terão todos senão um só pastor; obedecerão aos meus mandamentos, observarão as minhas leis e as porão em prática.25 Habitarão a terra que concedi a meu servidor Jacó, aquela em que vossos pais residiram; eles aí permanecerão; eles, seus filhos e os filhos de seus filhos para sempre. Davi, meu servo, será para sempre o seu rei.26 Concluirei com eles uma aliança de paz, um tratado eterno. Eu os plantarei e multiplicá-los-ei. Estabelecerei para sempre o meu santuário entre eles.27 Minha residência será no meio deles. Eu serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo.28 E as nações saberão que sou eu, o Senhor, quem santifica Israel, quando o meu santuário se achar constituído para sempre no meio do {meu} povo.

1 And the hand of the LORD was upon me and took me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of a field which [was] full of bones,2 and caused me to pass by them round about; and, behold, [there were] very many upon the face of the field; and [they were] very dry.3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.4 Then he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones hear the word of the LORD.5 Thus hath the Lord GOD said unto these bones: Behold, I will cause spirit to enter into you, and ye shall live:6 And I will lay nerves upon you and will bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put spirit in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD.7 So I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I prophesied, there was a thunder, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.8 And I beheld, and behold nerves upon them and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but [there was] no spirit in them.9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Come from the four winds, O spirit, and breathe upon these slain, and they shall live.10 And I prophesied as he commanded me, and the spirit entered into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, all these bones are the house of Israel; behold, they say, Our bones have dried, and our hope is lost, and in ourselves we are totally cut off.12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, O my people, I open your graves and will cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel.13 And ye shall know that I [am] the LORD when I have opened your graves, O my people and brought you up out of your graves14 and shall put my Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall cause you to rest upon your [own] land; then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken [it] and performed [it], said the LORD.15 And the word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,16 Thou, son of man, take one stick and write upon it: To Judah, and to the sons of Israel his companions; then take another stick and write upon it: To Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and to all the house of Israel his companions:17 and join them one to another that they might become one; and they shall be one in thy hand.18 And when the sons of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not show us what thou [meanest] by these?19 Say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, I take the stick of Joseph, which [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows and will put them with him, [even] with the stick of Judah and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.20 And the sticks upon which thou dost write shall be in thine hand before their eyes.21 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said; Behold, I take the sons of Israel from among the Gentiles, where they be gone and will gather them on every side and bring them into their [own] land;22 and I will make them one nation in the land in the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall no longer be two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:23 neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their abominations, nor with all their rebellions, but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, in which they have sinned and will cleanse them, so they shall be my people, and I will be their God.24 And David my servant [shall be] king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk within my rights and keep my statutes and do them.25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, [even] they and their sons and their son's sons for ever; and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever.26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will plant them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.27 And my tabernacle shall be in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.28 And the Gentiles shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.:
