1 Eu sou a videira verdadeira, e meu Pai é o agricultor. Todo ramo que não der fruto em mim, ele o cortará;2 e podará todo o que der fruto, para que produza mais fruto.3 Vós já estais puros pela palavra que vos tenho anunciado.4 Permanecei em mim e eu permanecerei em vós. O ramo não pode dar fruto por si mesmo, se não permanecer na videira. Assim também vós: não podeis tampouco dar fruto, se não permanecerdes em mim.5 Eu sou a videira; vós, os ramos. Quem permanecer em mim e eu nele, esse dá muito fruto; porque sem mim nada podeis fazer.6 Se alguém não permanecer em mim será lançado fora, como o ramo. Ele secará e hão de ajuntá-lo e lançá-lo ao fogo, e queimar-se-á.7 Se permanecerdes em mim, e as minhas palavras permanecerem em vós, pedireis tudo o que quiserdes e vos será feito.8 Nisto é glorificado meu Pai, para que deis muito fruto e vos torneis meus discípulos.9 Como o Pai me ama, assim também eu vos amo. Perseverai no meu amor.10 Se guardardes os meus mandamentos, sereis constantes no meu amor, como também eu guardei os mandamentos de meu Pai e persisto no seu amor.11 Disse-vos essas coisas para que a minha alegria esteja em vós, e a vossa alegria seja completa.12 Este é o meu mandamento: amai-vos uns aos outros, como eu vos amo.13 Ninguém tem maior amor do que aquele que dá a sua vida por seus amigos.14 Vós sois meus amigos, se fazeis o que vos mando.15 Já não vos chamo servos, porque o servo não sabe o que faz seu senhor. Mas chamei-vos amigos, pois vos dei a conhecer tudo quanto ouvi de meu Pai.16 Não fostes vós que me escolhestes, mas eu vos escolhi e vos constituí para que vades e produzais fruto, e o vosso fruto permaneça. Eu assim vos constituí, a fim de que tudo quanto pedirdes ao Pai em meu nome, ele vos conceda.17 O que vos mando é que vos ameis uns aos outros.18 Se o mundo vos odeia, sabei que me odiou a mim antes que a vós.19 Se fôsseis do mundo, o mundo vos amaria como sendo seus. Como, porém, não sois do mundo, mas do mundo vos escolhi, por isso o mundo vos odeia.20 Lembrai-vos da palavra que vos disse: O servo não é maior do que o seu senhor. Se me perseguiram, também vos hão de perseguir. Se guardaram a minha palavra, hão de guardar também a vossa.21 Mas vos farão tudo isso por causa do meu nome, porque não conhecem aquele que me enviou.22 Se eu não viesse e não lhes tivesse falado, não teriam pecado; mas agora não há desculpa para o seu pecado.23 Aquele que me odeia, odeia também a meu Pai.24 Se eu não tivesse feito entre eles obras, como nenhum outro fez, não teriam pecado; mas agora as viram e odiaram a mim e a meu Pai.25 Mas foi para que se cumpra a palavra que está escrita na sua lei: Odiaram-me sem motivo {Sl 34,19; 68,5}.26 Quando vier o Paráclito, que vos enviarei da parte do Pai, o Espírito da Verdade, que procede do Pai, ele dará testemunho de mim.27 Também vós dareis testemunho, porque estais comigo desde o princípio

1 I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he shall take away; and every one that bears fruit, he shall purge that they may bring forth more fruit.3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abides in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me.5 I AM the vine, ye [are] the branches: he that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.6 He who does not abide in me shall be cast forth as an [unsound] branch and shall wither, and they are gathered and cast into the fire and are burned.7 If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.8 In this is my Father clarified, in that ye bear much fruit; and in this manner ye shall be my disciples.9 As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, even as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.11 These things I have spoken unto you that my joy may abide in you and [that] your joy might be fulfilled.12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his soul for his friends.14 Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.15 From now on I do not call you servants, for the servant does not know what his lord does; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it [unto] you.17 This I command you, that ye love one another.18 If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.19 If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.21 But they will do all these things unto you for my name's sake, because they do not know him that sent me.22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.23 He that hates me hates my Father also.24 If I had not done among them works which no other man has done, they would not have sin; but now they have seen [them] and hate both me and my Father.25 But [this comes to pass] that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me;27 and ye also shall bear witness because ye have been with me from the beginning.:
