Deuteronômio 5

1 Moses called to all Israel, and said to them, "Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears today, that you may learn them, and observe to do them." 2 Yahweh our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 Yahweh didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today. 4 Yahweh spoke with you face to face on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, 5 (I stood between Yahweh and you at that time, to show you Yahweh’s word; for you were afraid because of the fire, and didn’t go up onto the mountain) saying,

6 "I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

7 "You shall have no other gods before me.

8 "You shall not make a carved image for yourself—any likeness of what is in heaven above, or what is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 9 You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me 10 and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 "You shall not misuse the name of Yahweh your God;*5:11 or, You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.

12 "Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as Yahweh your God commanded you. 13 You shall labor six days, and do all your work; 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God, in which you shall not do any work—neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore Yahweh your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

16 "Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you, that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

17 "You shall not murder.

18 "You shall not commit adultery.

19 "You shall not steal.

20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

21 "You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s."

22 Yahweh spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me. 23 When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; 24 and you said, "Behold, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives. 25 Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear Yahweh our God’s voice any more, then we shall die. 26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived? 27 Go near, and hear all that Yahweh our God shall say, and tell us all that Yahweh our God tells you; and we will hear it, and do it."

28 Yahweh heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me; and Yahweh said to me, "I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken. 29 Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

30 "Go tell them, ‘Return to your tents.’ 31 But as for you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess."

32 You shall observe to do therefore as Yahweh your God has commanded you. You shall not turn away to the right hand or to the left. 33 You shall walk in all the way which Yahweh your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

8 "Kei hanga koe i te whakapakoko mōu, i tētahi ritenga rānei o ngā mea o te rangi i runga, o te whenua rānei i raro, o te wai rānei i raro i te whenua. 9 Kei koropiko koe ki ēnā mea, kei mahi rānei ki ēnā mea; ko Ihowā hoki ahau ko tōu Atua, he Atua hae, e mea ana i ngā hara o ngā mātua kia tau iho ki ngā tamariki a te toru, te whā rā anō o ngā whakatupuranga o te hunga e kino ana ki ahau; 10 e whakaputa aroha ana hoki ki ngā mano, ki te hunga e aroha ana ki ahau, e whakarite ana i āku ture.

11 "Kei whakahuatia noatia e koe te ingoa o Ihowā, o tōu Atua; e kore hoki a Ihowā e mea he harakore te tangata e whakahua noa ana i tōna ingoa.

12 "Kia mau ki te rā hāpati, kia whakatapua, kia pērā me tā Ihowā, me tā tōu Atua i whakahau ai ki a koe. 13 E ono ngā rā e mahi ai koe, e mea ai hoki i āu mea katoa. 14 Tēnā ko te rā whitu, he hāpati nō Ihowā, nō tōu Atua; kaua e mahia tētahi mahi i reira – e koe, e tāu tama, e tāu tamāhine, e tāu pononga tāne, e tāu pononga wahine, e tāu kau, e tāu kāihe, e āu kararehe katoa hoki, me tōu tangata kē i roto i ōu tatau; kia okioki ai tāu pononga tāne, tāu pononga wahine, kia pēnā ai me koe. 15 Kia mahara anō he pononga koe i te whenua o Īhipa, ā, nā Ihowā, nā tōu Atua koe i whakaputa mai i reira, i runga i te ringa kaha, i te ringa mārō. Nā reira i whakahau ai a Ihowā, tōu Atua, i a koe kia whakaritea te rā hāpati.

16 "Whakahōnoretia tōu pāpā me tōu whaea, kia rite ki tā Ihowā, ki tā tōu Atua i whakahau ai ki a koe; kia roa ai ōu rā, kia whiwhi ai hoki koe ki te pai i runga i te whenua e hōmai nei e Ihowā, e tōu Atua, ki a koe.

17 "Aua e patu.

18 "Aua e pūremu.

19 "Aua e tāhae.

20 "Aua e whakapae teka ki tōu hoa.

21 "Aua hoki e hiahia ki te wahine a tōu hoa, aua hoki e hiahia ki te whare o tōu hoa, ki tāna māra, ki tāna pononga tāne, ki tāna pononga wahine, ki tāna kau, ki tana kāihe, ki tētahi mea rānei a tōu hoa.

22 "Ko ēnei kupu i kōrerotia mai e Ihowā ki tō koutou huihui katoa i te maunga, i waenganui o te ahi, o te kapua, o te pōuri hoki, he nui anō hoki te reo; ā, kāhore atu anō āna kupu. Ā, tuhituhia iho e ia ki ngā papa kōhatu e rua, ā, hōmai ana ki ahau."

23 Ā, nō tō koutou rongonga i te kupu i roto i te pōuri, ko te maunga hoki e kā ana i te ahi, ka whakatata mai ki ahau, arā ngā upoko katoa o ō koutou iwi, me ō koutou kaumātua; 24 ā, ka mea mai, "Nā, kua whakakite mai a Ihowā, tō tātou Atua, i tōna korōria, i tōna nui ki a tātou, kua rongo hoki tātou i tōna reo i roto i te ahi; kua kite tātou i tēnei rā ka kōrero a Ihowā ki te tangata, ā, ka ora anō ia. 25 Nā, kia mate mātou hei aha? Ka pau hoki mātou i tēnei ahi nui; ki te rongo anō mātou i te reo o Ihowā, o tō tātou Atua, nā, ka mate mātou. 26 Ko wai hoki o ngā kikokiko katoa i rongo ki te reo o te Atua ora e kōrero ana i roto i te ahi, me tātou nei i rongo, ā, i ora anō? 27 Māu e whakatata atu, e whakarongo ki ngā mea katoa e kōrero ai a Ihowā, tō tātou Atua; māu hoki e kōrero ki a mātou ngā mea katoa e kōrero ai a Ihowā, tō tātou Atua, ki a koe; ā, mā mātou e whakarongo, e mahi."

28 Ā, ka rongo mai a Ihowā i te puaki o ā koutou kupu, i a koutou e kōrero ana ki ahau; nā, ka mea a Ihowā ki ahau: "Kua rongo ahau i te puaki mai o ngā kupu a te iwi nei, i kōrero rā rātou ki a koe; he pai ngā mea katoa i kōrero rā rātou. 29 Ē! Me i pēnā ō rātou ngākau i roto i a rātou, te wehi i ahau, te pupuri hoki i āku whakahau katoa i ngā rā katoa, kia whiwhi ai rātou ki te pai me ā rātou tamariki hoki ake tonu atu!

30 "Haere, mea atu ki a rātou, ‘Hoki atu koutou ki ō koutou tēneti.’ 31 Ko koe ia, e tū ki konei tāua, ā, māku e kōrero ki a koe ngā whakahau katoa, me ngā tikanga, me ngā whakaritenga e whakaako ai koe ki a rātou, hei mahi mā rātou ki te whenua e hoatu nei e ahau kia nohoia e rātou."

32 Nā, kia mahara koutou kia pērā te mahi me tā Ihowā, me tā tō koutou Atua, i whakahau ai ki a koutou; kaua e peka kē ki matau, ki mauī. 33 Haere i ngā huarahi katoa i whakahau ai a Ihowā, tō koutou Atua ki a koutou, kia ora ai koutou, kia whiwhi ai ki te pai, kia roa ai hoki ō koutou rā ki te whenua ka riro nei i a koutou.
