1 Coríntios 10

1 Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and all ate the same spiritual food; 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ. 5 However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."✝10:7 Exodus 32:6 8 Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell. 9 Let’s not test Christ,*10:9 NU reads "the Lord" instead of "Christ". as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents. 10 Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.

13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread. 18 Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?

19 What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons. 21 You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

23 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good. 25 Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience, 26 for "the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness."✝10:26 Psalms 24:1 27 But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience. 28 But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For "the earth is the Lord’s, with all its fullness." 29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?

31 Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God; 33 even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

Varnande exempel

5 *4 Mos 14:33, Hebr 3:17f. Men de flesta av dem hade Gud inte behag till, utan de föll och låg utspridda i öknen. 6 *4 Mos 11:4. Det som hände dem har blivit ett varnande exempel för oss, för att vi inte ska ha begär till det onda som de hade. 7 Bli inte heller avgudadyrkare som några av dem, som det står skrivet: Folket satte sig för att äta och dricka och reste sig för att roa sig.*10:7roa sigmed dans kring guldkalven (2 Mos 32:6, 18f).8 Vi ska inte heller begå sexuell synd som några av dem gjorde – på en enda dag föll tjugotretusen*10:8på en enda dag föll tjugotretusenTretusen dödades med svärd (2 Mos 32:27f), de övriga av Herrens straffdom (2 Mos 32:35).. 9 *2 Mos 17:2, 4 Mos 21:5f. Det som hände dem är exempel, och det skrevs ner för att varna oss som har världens slut inpå oss.

12 *Rom 11:20. Därför ska den som tror sig stå se till att han inte faller. 13 Ingen annan frestelse*10:13frestelseAnnan översättning: "prövning" (jfr "påfrestning"). Varje frestelse är en prövning, och varje prövning är en frestelse att överge Gud. har drabbat er än vad människor får möta. Och Gud är trofast, han ska inte tillåta att ni frestas över er förmåga. Samtidigt med frestelsen kommer han också att ge en utväg, så att ni kan härda ut.

Nattvarden och offermåltiderna

Eftersom brödet är ett, är vi som är många en enda kropp, för alla får vi del av ett och samma bröd. 18 *3 Mos 7:6, 15, 1 Kor 9:13. Se på det jordiska Israel. Har inte de som äter av offren del i altaret?

19 *1 Kor 8:4f. Så vad menar jag? Att avgudaoffer betyder något eller att en avgud betyder något? 20 *5 Mos 32:17. Nej, men vad hedningarna offrar, det offrar de åt onda andar och inte åt Gud, och jag vill inte att ni ska ha gemenskap med de onda andarna. 21 *2 Kor 6:15f. Samvetets frihet

23 *1 Kor 6:12. Allt är tillåtet, men allt är inte nyttigt. Allt är tillåtet, men allt bygger inte upp. 24 *Rom 15:2, Fil 2:4. Ingen ska söka sitt eget bästa, utan den andres. 25 Ät allt som säljs på torget utan att ställa frågor för samvetets skull, 26 för jorden är Herrens med allt vad den rymmer.*10:26Ps 24:1.

27 Om någon av dem som inte tror bjuder hem er och ni vill gå, ät då allt som sätts fram åt er utan att ställa frågor för samvetets skull. 28 *1 Kor 8:10f. Men om någon skulle säga till er: "Det här är offerkött", avstå då från att äta av hänsyn till den som sade det och för samvetets skull.

29 *Rom 14:14f. Jag menar då inte ditt eget samvete utan den andres. Varför ska min frihet dömas av en annans samvete? 30 *Rom 14:6, 1 Tim 4:4. Om jag äter med tacksamhet, varför blir jag då kritiserad för något som jag tackar Gud för?

31 *Kol 3:17. Alltså: om ni äter eller dricker eller vad ni än gör, så gör allt till Guds ära. 32 *Rom 14:13. Väck inte anstöt vare sig hos judar eller greker eller i Guds församling. 33 *1 Kor 10:24, 1 Kor 9:19f. Själv försöker jag i allt foga mig efter alla och söker inte mitt eget bästa utan de mångas, för att de ska bli frälsta.
