1 The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying, 2 "Yahweh, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 ‘You said, "Woe is me now! For Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain! I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."’

4 "You shall tell him, Yahweh says: ‘Behold, that which I have built, I will break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land. 5 Do you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh,’ says Yahweh, ‘but I will let you escape with your life wherever you go.’"

1 Cuvântul*Cap. 36:1,4,32. pe care l-a spus prorocul Ieremia către Baruc, fiul lui Neriia, când a scris într-o carte cuvintele acestea, după spusele lui Ieremia, în al patrulea an al lui Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, sună astfel: 2 „Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel despre tine, Baruc: 3 ‘Tu zici: «Vai de mine! Căci Domnul a adus întristare peste durerea mea; îmi sleiesc puterile suspinând și nu găsesc odihnă!»’ 4 Spune-i: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul: «Iată că ce am zidit*Is. 5:5. voi dărâma; ce am sădit voi smulge, și anume țara aceasta. 5 Și tu umbli după lucruri mari? Nu umbla după ele! Căci iată*Cap. 25:26., voi aduce nenorocirea peste orice făptură», zice Domnul, «dar ție îți voi da ca pradă*Cap. 21:9;38:2;39:18. de război viața ta în toate locurile unde vei merge.»’"
