19 And the men of the city said to Elisha, Behold, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.

20 And he said, Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it. So they brought it to him.

21 And he went out to the spring of the water, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus says Jehovah: I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.

22 Thus the waters remain healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he had spoken.

19 E os homens da cidade disseram a Eliseu: Eis que boa é a habitação desta cidade, como o meu senhor vê; porém as águas são más, e a terra é estéril. 20 E ele disse: Trazei-me uma salva nova, e ponde nela sal. E lha trouxeram. 21 Então saiu ele ao manancial das águas, e deitou sal nele; e disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Sararei a estas águas; não haverá mais nelas morte nem esterilidade. 22 Ficaram pois sãs aquelas águas até ao dia de hoje, conforme à palavra que Eliseu tinha dito.
