1 Depois Jeosafá dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com seus pais na cidade de Davi; e Jeorão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.2 E teve irmãos, filhos de Jeosafá: Azarias, Jeiel, Zacarias, Asarias, Micael e Sefatias; todos estes foram filhos de Jeosafá, rei de Israel.3 E seu pai lhes deu muitos presentes de prata, de ouro e de coisas preciosíssimas, juntamente com cidades fortificadas em Judá; porém, o reino, deu a Jeorão, porquanto era o primogênito.4 E, subindo Jeorão ao reino de seu pai, e havendo-se fortificado, matou a todos os seus irmãos à espada, como também a alguns dos príncipes de Israel.5 Da idade de trinta e dois anos era Jeorão, quando começou a reinar; e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém.6 E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como fazia a casa de Acabe; porque tinha a filha de Acabe por mulher; e fazia o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor.7 Porém o Senhor não quis destruir a casa de Davi, em atenção à aliança que tinha feito com Davi; e porque também tinha falado que lhe daria por todos os dias uma lâmpada, a ele e a seus filhos.8 Nos seus dias se revoltaram os edomitas contra o mando de Judá, e constituíram para si um rei.9 Por isso Jeorão passou adiante com os seus príncipes, e todos os carros com ele; levantou-se de noite, e feriu aos edomeus, que o tinham cercado, como também aos capitães dos carros.10 Todavia os edomitas se revoltaram contra o mando de Judá até ao dia de hoje; então no mesmo tempo Libna se revoltou contra o seu mando; porque deixara ao Senhor Deus de seus pais.11 Ele também fez altos nos montes de Judá; e fez com que se corrompessem os moradores de Jerusalém, e até a Judá impeliu a isso.12 Então lhe veio um escrito da parte de Elias, o profeta, que dizia: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Davi teu pai: Porquanto não andaste nos caminhos de Jeosafá, teu pai, e nos caminhos de Asa, rei de Judá,13 Mas andaste no caminho dos reis de Israel, e fizeste prostituir a Judá e aos moradores de Jerusalém, segundo a prostituição da casa de Acabe, e também mataste a teus irmãos da casa de teu pai, melhores do que tu;14 Eis que o Senhor ferirá com um grande flagelo ao teu povo, aos teus filhos, às tuas mulheres e a todas as tuas fazendas.15 Tu também terás grande enfermidade por causa de uma doença em tuas entranhas, até que elas saiam, de dia em dia, por causa do mal.16 Despertou, pois, o Senhor, contra Jeorão o espírito dos filisteus e dos árabes, que estavam do lado dos etíopes.17 Estes subiram a Judá, e deram sobre ela, e levaram todos os bens que se achou na casa do rei, como também a seus filhos e a suas mulheres; de modo que não lhe deixaram filho algum, senão a Jeoacaz, o mais moço de seus filhos.18 E depois de tudo isto o Senhor o feriu nas suas entranhas com uma enfermidade incurável.19 E sucedeu que, depois de muito tempo, ao fim de dois anos, saíram-lhe as entranhas por causa da doença; e morreu daquela grave enfermidade; e o seu povo não lhe queimou aroma como queimara a seus pais.20 Era da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém; e foi sem deixar de si saudades; e sepultaram-no na cidade de Davi, porém não nos sepulcros dos reis.

1 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son became king in his stead.2 And he had brothers the sons of Jehoshaphat: ‘Azaryah, and Jechiel, and Zecharyahu, and ‘Azaryahu, and Michael, and Shephatyahu, all these being sons of Jehoshaphat the king of Israel.3 And their father gave them many gifts consisting of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the first–born.4 Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.5 Thirty and two years was Jehoram old when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem.6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as had done the house of Achab; for the daughter of Achab had he for wife: and he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord.7 Yet would the Lord not destroy the house of David, on account of the covenant which he had made with David, and as he had said to give to him a government and to his sons at all times.8 In his days Edom revolted from under the power of Judah, and they appointed a king over themselves.9 Then did Jehoram go over with his princes, and all the chariots were with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots.10 Yet Edom revolted from under the power of Judah even until this day: then did Libnah revolt at the same time from under his power; because he had forsaken the Lord the God of his fathers.11 He also made high–places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, and misled Judah.12 And there came unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus hath said the Lord the God of David thy father, Inasmuch as thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Assa the king of Judah,13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray, as the house of Achab hath caused others to go astray, and hast also slain thy brothers of thy father’s house, who were better than thyself:14 Behold, the Lord will inflict a great plague on thy people, and on thy children, and on thy wives, and on all thy possessions;15 And thou shalt be afflicted with great diseases by a disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels pass out from thee by reason of the disease days upon days.16 And the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that are alongside of the Cushim:17 And they went up against Judah, and made an incursion into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and also his sons, and his wives; and there was not left unto him any son, save Jehoachaz, the youngest of his sons.18 And after all this did the Lord afflict him in his bowels with a disease which was incurable.19 And it came to pass, from days to days, and when the fixed time was expired, after two years, that his bowels passed out from him by reason of his disease: so he died of evil diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning for his fathers.20 Thirty and two years old was he when he became king, and eight years did he reign in Jerusalem, and departed without joy: and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
