1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar: and he said, Smite the capitals, that the thresholds may shake; and break them in pieces on the head of all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall not one of them flee away, and there shall not one of them escape. 2 Though they dig into Sheol, thence shall my hand take them; and though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. 3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and it shall bite them. 4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

5 For the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, is he that toucheth the land and it melteth, and all that dwell therein shall mourn; and it shall rise up wholly like the River, and shall sink again, like the River of Egypt; 6 it is he that buildeth his chambers in the heavens, and hath founded his vault upon the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; Jehovah is his name.

7 Are ye not as the children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith Jehovah. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir? 8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord Jehovah are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; save that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith Jehovah. 9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations, like as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least kernel fall upon the earth. 10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say, The evil shall not overtake nor meet us.

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old; 12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations that are called by my name, saith Jehovah that doeth this. 13 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. 14 And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them, saith Jehovah thy God.

Rămășița lor însă o voi pierde cu sabia, așa că niciunul*Cap. 2:14. din ei nu va putea să scape fugind și niciunul din cei ce vor scăpa nu va scăpa. 2 De ar pătrunde chiar până în Locuința morților*Ps. 139:8., și de acolo îi va smulge mâna Mea; de s-ar sui chiar în ceruri*Iov 20:6.Ier. 51:53.Obad. 4., și de acolo îi voi coborî. 3 De s-ar ascunde chiar pe vârful Carmelului, și acolo îi voi căuta și-i voi lua; de s-ar ascunde de privirile Mele chiar în fundul mării, și acolo*Lev. 26:33.Deut. 28:65.Ezec. 5:12. voi porunci șarpelui să-i muște. 4 De ar merge în robie chiar înaintea vrăjmașilor lor, și acolo voi porunci sabiei să-i piardă; voi pune astfel ochii*Lev. 17:10.Ier. 44:11. pe ei ca să le fac rău, nu bine." 5 Domnul Dumnezeul oștirilor atinge pământul și se topește*Mica 1:4. și toți locuitorii lui jelesc*Cap. 8:8.. Se înalță ca râul Nil și se coboară ca râul Egiptului. 6 El Și-a zidit cămara*Ps. 104:3,13. în ceruri, Și-a întemeiat bolta deasupra pământului; cheamă apele*Cap. 5:8. mării și le varsă pe fața pământului. Domnul*Cap. 4:13. este Numele Lui! 7 „Nu sunteți voi oare pentru Mine ca și copiii etiopienilor, copii ai lui Israel?", zice Domnul. „N-am scos Eu pe Israel din țara Egiptului ca și pe filisteni*Ier. 47:4. din Caftor*Deut. 2:23.Ier. 47:4. și pe sirieni din Chir*Cap. 1:5.? 8 Iată, Domnul Dumnezeu are ochii*Vers. 4. pironiți peste împărăția aceasta vinovată, ca s-o nimicesc*Ier. 30:11;31:35,36.Obad. 16,17. de pe fața pământului; totuși nu voi nimici de tot casa lui Iacov", zice Domnul. 9 „Căci, iată, voi porunci și voi vântura casa lui Israel între toate neamurile, cum se vântură cu ciurul, fără să cadă un singur bob la pământ! 10 Toți păcătoșii poporului Meu vor muri de sabie, cei ce zic*Cap. 6:3.: ‘Nu ne va ajunge nenorocirea și nu va veni peste noi.’ 11 În vremea aceea*Fapte 15:16,17. voi ridica din căderea lui cortul lui David, îi voi drege spărturile, îi voi ridica dărâmăturile și-l voi zidi iarăși cum era odinioară, 12 ca să stăpânească*Obad. 19. rămășița Edomului*Num. 24:18. și toate neamurile peste care a fost chemat Numele Meu", zice Domnul, care va împlini aceste lucruri. 13 „Iată, vin*Lev. 26:5. zile", zice Domnul, „când plugarul va ajunge pe secerător și cel ce calcă strugurii, pe cel ce împrăștie sămânța, când mustul va picura din*Ioel 3:18. munți și va curge de pe toate dealurile. 14 Voi aduce înapoi*Ier. 30:3. pe prinșii de război ai poporului Meu Israel; ei vor zidi iarăși*Is. 61:4;65:21.Ezec. 36:33-36. cetățile pustiite și le vor locui, vor sădi vii și le vor bea vinul, vor face grădini și le vor mânca roadele. 15 Îi voi sădi în țara lor și nu vor mai fi smulși*Is. 60:21.Ier. 32:41.Ezec. 34:28.Ioel 3:20. din țara pe care le-am dat-o", zice Domnul Dumnezeul tău.
