To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.*14.3 filthy: Heb. stinking

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.*14.5 were…: Heb. they feared a fear

6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.*14.7 Oh…: Heb. Who will give

Die dwaas sê in sy hart: Daar is geen God nie. Sleg, afskuwelik maak hulle hul dade; daar is niemand wat goed doen nie.

2 Die Here het uit die hemel neergesien op die mensekinders, om te sien of daar iemand verstandig is, wat na God vra.

3 Hulle het almal afgewyk, tesame het hulle ontaard; daar is niemand wat goed doen, ook nie een nie.

4 Het al die werkers van ongeregtigheid dan geen kennis nie, die wat my volk opeet asof hulle brood eet? Hulle roep die Here nie aan nie.

5 Dáár het skrik hulle oorweldig, want God is by die regverdige geslag.

6 Die raad van die ellendige — julle kan dit tot skande maak; waarlik, die Here is sy toevlug.

7 Ag, mag die verlossing van Israel uit Sion kom! As die Here die lot van sy volk verander, dan sal Jakob juig, Israel sal bly wees.
