1 No ano quatrocentos e oitenta, depois que os filhos de Israel saíram do Egito, Salomão, no quarto ano do seu reinado sobre Israel, no mês de zive, que é o segundo mês, começou a edificar a Casa do Senhor. 2 O templo que o rei Salomão edificou ao Senhor tinha vinte e sete metros de comprimento, nove de largura e treze e meio de altura. 3 O pórtico à entrada do templo media nove metros no sentido da largura do Lugar Santo, contra quatro e meio de fundo. 4 Para o templo, fez janelas de ripas fixas superpostas. 5 Contra a parede do templo, tanto do santuário como do Santo dos Santos, edificou andares ao redor e fez câmaras laterais ao redor. 6 O andar de baixo tinha dois metros e vinte e cinco de largura, o do meio, dois metros e setenta, e o terceiro, três metros e dez. Pela parte de fora do templo ele fez reentrâncias para que as vigas não fossem introduzidas nas paredes.

7 O templo foi construído com pedras já preparadas nas pedreiras, de maneira que, durante a construção, não se ouviu nenhum barulho de martelo, machado ou qualquer outro instrumento de ferro. 8 A porta da câmara do andar térreo ficava no lado sul do templo, e por uma escada se subia ao segundo andar e, deste, ao terceiro. 9 Assim Salomão construiu o templo e o rematou, cobrindo-o com um tabuado de cedro. 10 Os andares que edificou em volta do templo tinham dois metros e vinte e cinco de altura cada um, e estavam ligados ao templo por meio de vigas de cedro.

11 Então a palavra do Senhor veio a Salomão, dizendo:

12 — Quanto a este templo que você está edificando, se você andar nos meus estatutos, e executar os meus juízos, e guardar todos os meus mandamentos, andando neles, cumprirei para com você a minha palavra, a qual falei a Davi, seu pai. 13 E habitarei no meio dos filhos de Israel e não abandonarei o meu povo.

14 Assim Salomão construiu o templo e o rematou. 15 Também revestiu as paredes do templo por dentro com tábuas de cedro. Desde o soalho até o teto, cobriu as paredes com madeira por dentro; e cobriu o piso do templo com tábuas de cipreste. 16 Revestiu também os nove metros dos fundos do templo com tábuas de cedro, desde o chão até o teto; e esse interior ele constituiu em santuário, a saber, o Santo dos Santos. 17 O Santo Lugar do templo media dezoito metros de comprimento. 18 O cedro do templo por dentro era enfeitado com entalhes de frutos e flores abertas. Tudo era cedro; não se via nenhuma pedra. 19 No mais interior do templo, preparou o Santo dos Santos para nele colocar a arca da aliança do Senhor. 20 O Santo dos Santos tinha nove metros de comprimento, nove de largura e nove de altura; cobriu-o de ouro puro. Cobriu também de ouro o altar de cedro. 21 Por dentro, Salomão revestiu o templo de ouro puro; e fez passar correntes de ouro por dentro do Santo dos Santos, que também havia revestido de ouro. 22 Assim revestiu de ouro todo o interior do templo, e também todo o altar que estava diante do Santo dos Santos.

23 No Santo dos Santos, Salomão fez dois querubins de madeira de oliveira, cada um com quatro metros e meio de altura. 24 Cada asa de um querubim media dois metros e vinte e cinco. Portanto, de uma a outra extremidade de suas asas havia quatro metros e meio. 25 Assim, o outro querubim também era de quatro metros e meio; ambos os querubins tinham a mesma medida e a mesma forma. 26 A altura de um querubim era de quatro metros e meio; e essa era também a altura do outro. 27 Ele pôs os querubins no mais interior do templo. Os querubins estavam de asas estendidas, de maneira que a asa de um tocava numa parede, e a asa do outro tocava na outra parede; e as suas asas no meio da sala tocavam uma na outra. 28 E cobriu de ouro os querubins.

29 Em todas as paredes ao redor do templo, tanto na parte mais interior como na parte exterior, Salomão mandou esculpir entalhes de querubins, palmeiras e flores abertas. 30 Também revestiu de ouro o soalho, tanto na parte mais interior do templo como na parte exterior. 31 Para a entrada do Santo dos Santos, fez uma porta dupla de madeira de oliveira; a verga com as ombreiras formavam uma porta pentagonal. 32 Assim, fabricou de madeira de oliveira duas portas e mandou esculpir nelas entalhes de querubins, de palmeiras e de flores abertas; a estas, como as palmeiras e os querubins, revestiu de ouro. 33 Para a entrada do Santo Lugar, fez batentes de madeira de oliveira; entrada quadrilateral, 34 cujas duas portas eram de madeira de cipreste; e as duas tábuas de cada porta eram dobradiças. 35 E mandou esculpir nelas entalhes de querubins, de palmeiras e de flores abertas e revestiu esses entalhes de ouro.

36 Também edificou o átrio interior de três ordens de pedras cortadas e de uma ordem de vigas de cedro.

37 No quarto ano, no mês de zive, foi lançado o fundamento da Casa do Senhor. 38 E, no décimo primeiro ano, no mês de bul, que é o oitavo mês, o templo foi concluído com todas as suas dependências, tal como devia ser. Salomão levou sete anos para edificá-lo.

1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to bui2 And the house which king Solomon built for LORD, the length of it was sixty cubits, and the breadth of it twenty [cubits], and the height of it thirty cubits,3 and the porch in front of the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length of it, according to the breadth of the house, [and] ten cubits was the breadth of it in front of the house.4 And he made windows of fixed lattice-work for the house.5 And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle. And he made side-chambers round about.6 The lowest story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad, for on the outside he made offsets [in the wall] of the house round about, that [the beams] should not be fastened i7 And the house, when it was being built, was built of stone made ready at the quarry. And there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was being built.8 The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house. And they went up by winding stairs into the middle [story], and out of the middle into the third.9 So he built the house, and finished it. And he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.10 And he built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.11 And the word of LORD came to Solomon, saying,12 Concerning this house that thou are building, if thou will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with thee, which I spoke to David thy father.13 And I will dwell among the sons of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.14 So Solomon built the house, and finished it.15 And he built the walls of the house inside with boards of cedar. From the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. And he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir.16 And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the walls [of the ceiling]. He built [them] for it inside, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.17 And the house, that is, the temple in front of [the oracle], was forty cubits [long].18 And there was cedar on the house inside, carved with knops and open flowers. All was cedar; there was no stone seen.19 And he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house inside, to set there the ark of the covenant of LORD.20 And inside the oracle was [a space of] twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height of it. And he overlaid it with pure gold. And he covered the altar with cedar.21 So Solomon overlaid the house inside with pure gold. And he drew chains of gold across before the oracle, and he overlaid it with gold.22 And the whole house he overlaid with gold until all the house was finished. Also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.23 And in the oracle he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.24 And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub. From the outermost part of the one wing to the outermost part of the other were ten cubits.25 And the other cherub was ten cubits; both of the cherubim were of one measure and one form.26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so it was of the other cherub.27 And he set the cherubim inside the inner house. And the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall. And their wings touched28 And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.29 And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, inside and outside.30 And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, inside and outside.31 And for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood. The lintel [and] door-posts were a fifth part [of the wall].32 So [he made] two doors of olive-wood. And he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. And he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm trees.33 So he also made for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood out of a fourth part [of the wall],34 and two doors of fir-wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.35 And he carved [thereon] cherubim and palm trees and open flowers. And he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.36 And he built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams.37 In the fourth year the foundation of the house of LORD was laid, in the month Ziv.38 And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all the parts of it, and according to all the fashion of it. So he was seven years in building it.
