1 No décimo segundo ano, no décimo segundo mês, no primeiro dia do mês, a palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

2 — Filho do homem, faça uma lamentação sobre Faraó, rei do Egito, e diga-lhe:

"Você foi comparado

a um leão entre as nações,

mas não passa

de um crocodilo nas águas,

agitando as águas,

turvando-as com os pés,

sujando os rios."

3 Assim diz o Senhor Deus:

"Estenderei sobre você

a minha rede

no meio de muitos povos,

que o puxarão para fora

na minha rede.

4 Eu o deixarei no chão,

eu o lançarei em campo aberto.

Trarei sobre você

todas as aves do céu,

e os animais de toda a terra

se fartarão da sua carne.

5 Porei as suas carnes

sobre os montes

e encherei os vales

com o seu cadáver.

6 Com o seu sangue

que se derrama,

regarei a terra até os montes,

e dele se encherão os ribeiros.

7 Quando eu o extinguir,

cobrirei os céus

e farei escurecer as estrelas;

encobrirei o sol com uma nuvem,

e a lua não fará resplandecer

a sua luz.

8 Por sua causa, vestirei de preto

todos os brilhantes luzeiros

do céu

e trarei trevas sobre o seu país",

diz o Senhor Deus.

9 — "Afligirei o coração de muitos povos, quando se levar às nações, às terras que você não conheceu, a notícia da sua destruição. 10 Farei com que muitos povos fiquem espantados a seu respeito, e os seus reis tremam de medo, quando eu brandir a minha espada diante deles. No dia em que você cair, eles ficarão tremendo sem parar, com medo de perder a vida."

11 — Pois assim diz o Senhor Deus: "A espada do rei da Babilônia virá contra você. 12 Farei com que a multidão do seu povo caia à espada de valentes guerreiros, que são todos os mais terríveis das nações."

"Eles acabarão

com o orgulho do Egito,

e todo o seu povo será destruído.

13 Destruirei todos os seus animais

junto às muitas águas,

que nunca mais serão turvadas

por pés humanos

ou por cascos de animais.

14 Então farei assentar

as suas águas

e farei correr os seus rios

como o azeite",

diz o Senhor Deus.

15 "Quando eu tornar o Egito

em desolação

e a terra for destituída

de tudo o que a enchia,

e quando eu destruir

todos os que nela habitam,

então saberão

que eu sou o Senhor."

16 — Esta é a lamentação que se fará, que farão as filhas das nações; sobre o Egito e todo o seu povo se lamentará, diz o Senhor Deus.

17 No décimo segundo ano, aos quinze dias do primeiro mês, a palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

18 — Filho do homem, pranteie sobre a multidão do Egito e faça-a descer, ela e as filhas das nações poderosas, às profundezas da terra, juntamente com os que descem à cova. 19 Diga o seguinte:

"Você pensa que supera

os outros em beleza?

Pois agora desça e deite-se

com os incircuncisos."

20 — No meio daqueles que foram mortos à espada, eles cairão. Ele foi entregue à espada; arrastem o Egito e toda a sua multidão. 21 Do mundo dos mortos, os mais poderosos dos valentes, juntamente com os que o socorrem, lhe dirão: "Eles desceram, lá jazem eles, os incircuncisos, mortos à espada."

22 — Ali está a Assíria com todo o seu exército. Ao redor dela, todos os seus túmulos. Todos eles foram mortos; caíram à espada. 23 Os seus túmulos foram postos nas extremidades da cova, e todo o exército da Assíria se encontra ao redor do seu túmulo. Foram mortos, caíram à espada todos esses que tinham causado espanto na terra dos viventes.

24 — Ali está Elão com todo o seu exército, ao redor do seu túmulo. Todos foram mortos; caíram à espada. Desceram incircuncisos às profundezas da terra esses que causaram terror na terra dos viventes. Levaram a sua vergonha com os que desceram à cova. 25 No meio dos mortos, lhe puseram um leito entre todo o seu exército. Ao redor dele estão os seus túmulos. Todos esses incircuncisos foram mortos à espada, porque causaram terror na terra dos viventes e levaram a sua vergonha com os que desceram à cova. Foram postos no meio dos que foram mortos.

26 — Ali estão Meseque e Tubal com todo o seu exército. Ao redor deles estão os seus túmulos. Todos eles são incircuncisos e foram mortos à espada, porque causaram terror na terra dos viventes. 27 E estão com os valentes dos tempos antigos que, dentre os incircuncisos, foram mortos e desceram ao mundo dos mortos com as suas próprias armas de guerra e com a espada debaixo da cabeça. A iniquidade deles está sobre os seus ossos, porque eram o terror dos heróis na terra dos viventes.

28 — Também você, Egito, será quebrado no meio dos incircuncisos e jazerá com os que foram mortos à espada.

29 — Ali está Edom, os seus reis e todos os seus príncipes, que, apesar do seu poder, jazem com os que foram mortos à espada; estes jazem com os incircuncisos e com os que desceram à cova.

30 — Ali estão os príncipes do Norte, todos eles, e todos os sidônios, que desceram com os que foram mortos, envergonhados com o terror causado pelo seu poder. Eles jazem incircuncisos com os que foram mortos à espada e levam a sua vergonha com os que desceram à cova.

31 — Faraó os verá e se consolará sobre toda a sua multidão. Sim, o próprio Faraó e todo o seu exército foram mortos à espada, diz o Senhor Deus. 32 Porque também eu pus o meu espanto na terra dos viventes. Por isso, ele jazerá no meio dos incircuncisos, com os que foram mortos à espada, Faraó e todo o seu povo, diz o Senhor Deus.

1 And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first [day] of the month, that the word of LORD came to me, saying,2 Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him, Thou were compared to a young lion of the nations. Yet thou are as a monster in the seas, and thou broke forth with thy rivers, and troubled the waters w3 Thus says lord LORD: I will spread out my net upon thee with a company of many peoples, and they shall bring thee up in my net.4 And I will leave thee upon the land. I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the birds of the heavens to settle upon thee, and I will satisfy the beasts of the whole earth with thee.5 And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.6 I will also water the land, in which thou swim, with thy blood, even to the mountains. And the watercourses shall be full of thee.7 And when I shall extinguish thee, I will cover the heavens, and make the stars of it dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.8 All the bright lights of heaven I will make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, says lord LORD.9 I will also vex the hearts of many peoples when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou have not known.10 Yea, I will make many peoples amazed at thee. And their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee when I shall brandish my sword before them. And they shall tremble at every moment, each man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.11 For thus says lord LORD: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee.12 By the swords of the mighty I will cause thy multitude to fall. They are all the terrible of the nations. And they shall bring to nothing the pride of Egypt, and all the multitude of it shall be destroyed.13 I will destroy also all the beasts thereof from beside many waters. Neither the foot of man shall trouble them any more, nor the hoofs of beasts trouble them.14 Then I will make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil, says lord LORD.15 When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate and waste, a land destitute of that of which it was full, when I shall smite all those who dwell therein, then they shall know that I am LORD.16 This is the lamentation with which they shall lament. The daughters of the nations shall lament with that over Egypt, and over all her multitude. They shall lament with that, says lord LORD.17 It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, that the word of LORD came to me, saying,18 Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the nether parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.19 Whom do thou pass in beauty? Go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.20 They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword. She is delivered to the sword. Draw her away and all her multitudes.21 The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of Sheol with those who help him. They have gone down. They lay still, even the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.22 Asshur is there and all her company. Her graves are round about her, all of them slain, fallen by the sword,23 whose graves are set in the outermost parts of the pit. And her company is round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror in the land of the living.24 There is Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have bor25 They have set a bed for her in the midst of the slain with all her multitude. Her graves are round about her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword. For their terror was caused in the land of the living, and they have borne26 There is Meshech, Tubal, and all their multitude. But their iniquities are upon their bones, for [they w28 But thou shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shall lay with those who are slain by the sword.29 There is Edom, her kings and all her rulers, who in their might are laid with those who are slain by the sword. They shall lay with the uncircumcised, and with those who go down to the pit.30 There are the rulers of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain. In the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame. And they lay uncircumcised with those who are slain by31 Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says lord LORD.32 For I have put his terror in the land of the living, and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says lord LORD.
