1 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim, dizendo:

2 — Filho do homem, faça uma lamentação sobre Tiro. 3 Diga a Tiro, que habita nas entradas do mar e negocia com os povos em muitas terras do mar: Assim diz o Senhor Deus:

"Ó Tiro, você diz que é

a Perfeição da Formosura.

4 As suas fronteiras estão

no coração dos mares;

os que a construíram

aperfeiçoaram a sua beleza.

5 Fabricaram

todos os seus conveses

de ciprestes de Senir;

trouxeram cedros do Líbano

para fazer o seu mastro.

6 Fizeram os seus remos

de carvalhos de Basã;

os seus bancos, fizeram-nos

de marfim engastado

em pinho de Chipre.

7 A sua vela era de linho fino

bordado do Egito,

para servir de estandarte;

azul e púrpura das ilhas de Elisá

eram o seu toldo.

8 Os moradores de Sidom

e de Arvade

foram os seus remadores;

os seus sábios, ó Tiro,

que se achavam

dentro de você,

esses foram os seus pilotos.

9 Os anciãos de Gebal

e os seus sábios

estavam dentro de você

para reparar as brechas;

todos os navios do mar

e os marinheiros

se achavam dentro de você,

para comprar

as suas mercadorias."

10 — Os persas, os lídios e os de Pute serviam no seu exército como homens de guerra; penduravam em você os seus escudos e capacetes; foram eles que a cobriram de glória. 11 Os filhos de Arvade e o seu exército estavam sobre as muralhas que a rodeavam, e os gamaditas ficavam de vigia nas torres; penduravam os seus escudos nas suas muralhas e aperfeiçoavam a sua beleza.

12 — Társis negociava com você, por causa da abundância de todo tipo de riquezas; em troca das suas mercadorias lhe traziam prata, ferro, estanho e chumbo. 13 Javã, Tubal e Meseque negociavam com você; em troca das suas mercadorias, davam escravos e objetos de bronze. 14 Os da casa de Togarma, em troca das suas mercadorias, davam cavalos, ginetes e mulas. 15 Os filhos de Dedã negociavam com você; muitas terras do mar eram o mercado das suas manufaturas; em troca, traziam dentes de marfim e madeira de ébano. 16 A Síria negociava com você por causa da multidão das suas manufaturas; por suas mercadorias, eles davam esmeralda, púrpura, obras bordadas, linho fino, coral e pedras preciosas. 17 Judá e a terra de Israel negociavam com você; pelas suas mercadorias, davam o trigo de Minite, confeitos, mel, azeite e bálsamo. 18 Damasco negociava com você, por causa da multidão das suas manufaturas, por causa da abundância de todo tipo de riquezas, dando em troca vinho de Helbom e lã de Saar. 19 Também Dã e Javã, de Uzal, pelas suas mercadorias, davam em troca ferro trabalhado, cássia e cálamo, que assim entravam no seu comércio. 20 Dedã negociava com você, trazendo mantas para cavalos. 21 A Arábia e todos os príncipes de Quedar eram seus clientes; negociavam com você, trazendo cordeiros, carneiros e bodes; nisto, negociavam com você. 22 Os mercadores de Sabá e Raamá negociavam com você; pelas suas mercadorias, davam em troca os mais finos aromas, pedras preciosas e ouro. 23 Harã, Cane e Éden, mercadores de Sabá, Assíria e Quilmade eram seus clientes. 24 Negociavam com você, trazendo todo tipo de mercadorias, tecidos de púrpura e bordados, tapetes de várias cores e cordas trançadas e fortes. 25 Os navios de Társis transportavam as suas mercadorias.

"Você se enriqueceu

e ficou famosa

no coração dos mares.

26 Os seus remadores conduziram

você sobre grandes águas;

o vento leste a destroçou

no coração dos mares.

27 As suas riquezas,

as suas mercadorias, os seus bens,

os seus marinheiros,

os seus pilotos,

os encarregados

de reparar as brechas,

os seus comerciantes

e todos os soldados

que estão dentro de você,

juntamente com toda a multidão

do povo que está

dentro de você,

se afundarão no coração dos mares

no dia da sua ruína, ó Tiro.

28 Ao estrondo da gritaria

dos seus pilotos,

as praias tremerão.

29 Todos os remadores,

os marinheiros,

e todos os pilotos do mar

descerão de seus navios

e pararão em terra.

30 Farão ouvir a sua voz

por causa de você

e gritarão amargamente;

lançarão pó sobre a cabeça

e rolarão na cinza.

31 Raparão a cabeça por sua causa,

vestirão roupa feita

de pano de saco

e chorarão por você

com amargura de alma

e com amarga lamentação.

32 Em seu pranto, farão

uma lamentação sobre você,

dizendo:

‘Quem era como Tiro,

que agora está reduzida ao silêncio

no meio do mar?

33 Quando as suas mercadorias

eram exportadas pelos mares,

você satisfez muitos povos;

com as suas muitas riquezas

e suas mercadorias

você enriqueceu os reis da terra.

34 Agora você foi destroçada

nos mares,

nas profundezas das águas;

se afundaram as suas mercadorias

e toda a multidão

que estava dentro de você.’"

35 "Todos os moradores das ilhas

se espantam por causa de você;

os seus reis estão apavorados

e trazem o medo

estampado no rosto.

36 Os mercadores entre os povos

zombam de você;

você se tornou objeto de espanto

e deixará de existir para sempre."

1 The word of LORD came again to me, saying,2 And thou, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre,3 and say to Tyre, O thou that dwells at the entry of the sea, that is the merchant of the peoples to many isles, thus says lord LORD: Thou, O Tyre, have said, I am perfect in beauty.4 Thy borders are in the heart of the seas. Thy builders have perfected thy beauty.5 They have made all thy planks of fir trees from Senir. They have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for thee.6 Of the oaks of Bashan they have made thine oars. They have made thy benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim.7 Of fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was thy sail, that it might be to thee for an ensign. Blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was thine awning.8 The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were thy rowers. Thy wise men, O Tyre, were in thee; they were thy pilots.9 The old men of Gebal and, the wise men thereof, were thy caulkers in thee. All the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to deal in thy merchandise.10 Persia and Lud and Put were in thine army, thy men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in thee. They set forth thy comeliness.11 The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and valorous men were in thy towers. They hung their shields upon thy walls round about. They have perfected thy beauty.12 Tarshish was thy merchant because of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with silver, iron, tin, and lead. They traded for thy wares.13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants. They traded the persons of men, and vessels of brass for thy merchandise.14 Those of the house of Togarmah traded for thy wares with horses and war-horses and mules.15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants. Many isles were the mart of thy hand. They brought thee in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.16 Syria was thy merchant because of the multitude of thy handiworks. They traded for thy wares with emeralds, purple, and embroidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and rubies.17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants. They traded for thy merchandise wheat of Minnith, and pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.18 Damascus was thy merchant for the multitude of thy handiworks, because of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with the wine of Helbon, and white wool.19 Vedan and Javan traded with yarn for thy wares. Bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were among thy merchandise.20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious cloths for riding.21 Arabia, and all the rulers of Kedar, they were the merchants of thy hand, in lambs, and rams, and goats. In these they were thy merchants.22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants. They traded for thy wares with the chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.23 Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur [and] Chilmad, were thy merchants.24 These were thy merchants in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and embroidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.25 The ships of Tarshish were thy caravans for thy merchandise. And thou were replenished, and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters. The east wind has broken thee in the heart of the seas.27 Thy riches, and thy wares, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy caulkers, and the dealers in thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, who are in thee, with all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall int28 At the sound of the cry of thy pilots the suburbs shall shake.29 And all who handled the oar, the mariners, [and] all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships. They shall stand upon the land,30 and shall cause their voice to be heard over thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads. They shall wallow themselves in the ashes.31 And they shall make themselves bald for thee, and gird with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, [saying], Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea?33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filled many peoples. Thou enriched the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.34 In the time that thou were broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thy company fell in the midst of thee.35 All the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at thee, and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance.36 The merchants among the peoples hiss at thee. Thou have become a horror, and thou shall nevermore have any being.
