1 Depois disto, o homem me fez voltar à entrada do templo, e eis que água saía de debaixo do limiar do templo e corria na direção do leste. Porque a fachada do templo dava para o leste. A água vinha de debaixo do lado direito do templo, do lado sul do altar. 2 Ele me fez sair pelo portão do norte, para dar uma volta por fora, até o portão exterior, que dá para o leste; e eis que a água borbulhava do lado direito.

3 O homem saiu para o leste, tendo na mão um cordel de medir. Mediu quinhentos metros e me fez passar pela água, que me dava pelos tornozelos. 4 Mediu mais quinhentos metros e me fez passar pela água, que me dava pelos joelhos. Mediu mais quinhentos metros e me fez passar pela água, que agora me dava pela cintura. 5 Mediu ainda outros quinhentos metros, e era já um rio que eu não podia atravessar, porque as águas tinham crescido. Eram águas em que se podia nadar, um rio pelo qual não se podia passar andando. 6 Então ele me perguntou:

— Você viu isso, filho do homem?

Então o homem me levou de volta à margem do rio. 7 Quando cheguei lá, eis que à margem do rio havia grande abundância de árvores, dos dois lados do rio. 8 Então me disse:

— Estas águas correm para a região leste, descem ao vale do Jordão e entram no mar, cujas águas ficarão saudáveis. 9 Todos os seres vivos que povoam os lugares por onde este rio passar terão vida. E haverá muitíssimo peixe, porque essas águas chegaram lá. As águas do mar Morto se tornarão saudáveis, e tudo viverá por onde quer que esse rio passar. 10 Junto a ele se acharão pescadores. Desde En-Gedi até En-Eglaim haverá lugar para estender e secar as redes. Os peixes serão de muitas espécies, como os peixes do mar Grande. 11 Mas os seus charcos e os seus pântanos não se tornarão saudáveis; serão deixados para o sal. 12 Nas duas margens do rio nascerá todo tipo de árvore frutífera. As folhas dessas árvores não murcharão, e elas nunca deixarão de dar o seu fruto. Produzirão frutos novos todos os meses, porque são regadas pelas águas que saem do santuário. Os seus frutos servirão de alimento, e as suas folhas, de remédio.

13 — Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Estas serão as fronteiras pelas quais vocês repartirão a terra como herança para as doze tribos de Israel. José terá duas partes. 14 Repartam a terra em partes iguais, pois jurei dá-la aos pais de vocês. Assim, esta mesma terra lhes será dada como herança.

15 — Este será o limite da terra: do lado norte, desde o mar Grande, pelo caminho de Hetlom, até a entrada de Zedade, 16 Hamate, Berota, Sibraim, que ficam na fronteira entre Damasco e Hamate, até Hazer-Haticom, que está na fronteira de Haurã. 17 Assim, a fronteira será desde o mar até Hazar-Enom, na fronteira de Damasco, ao norte, que é também a fronteira de Hamate. Esta será a fronteira do lado norte.

18 — No lado leste, a fronteira será entre Haurã e Damasco; entre Gileade e a terra de Israel, será o Jordão; vocês medirão desde o limite do norte até o mar Morto. Esta será a fronteira do lado leste.

19 — No lado sul, a fronteira irá desde Tamar até as águas de Meribá-Cades, e então seguindo o ribeiro do Egito até o mar Grande. Esta será a fronteira do lado sul.

20 — No lado oeste, a fronteira será o mar Grande, subindo até diante da entrada de Hamate. Esta será a fronteira do lado oeste.

21 — Repartam esta terra entre vocês, segundo as tribos de Israel. 22 Vocês devem reparti-la como herança para vocês e para os estrangeiros que moram no meio de vocês, que gerarem filhos no meio de vocês. Eles deverão ser considerados como naturais entre os filhos de Israel; junto com vocês, eles receberão uma herança no meio das tribos de Israel. 23 Na tribo em que o estrangeiro estiver morando, ali vocês lhe darão a sua herança, diz o Senhor Deus.

1 He brought me back to the door of the temple; and behold, waters flowed out from under the threshold of the temple eastward, for the front of the temple faced toward the east. The waters came down from underneath, from the right side of the temple, on the south of the altar. 2 Then he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me around by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way of the gate that looks toward the east. Behold, waters ran out on the right side.

3 When the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the ankles. 4 Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the knees. Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through waters that were to the waist. 5 Afterward he measured one thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the waters had risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be walked through.

6 He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?"

Then he brought me and caused me to return to the bank of the river. 7 Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. 8 Then he said to me, "These waters flow out toward the eastern region and will go down into the Arabah. Then they will go toward the sea and flow into the sea which will be made to flow out; and the waters will be healed. 9 It will happen that every living creature which swarms, in every place where the rivers come, will live. Then there will be a very great multitude of fish; for these waters have come there, and the waters of the sea will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river comes. 10 It will happen that fishermen will stand by it. From En Gedi even to En Eglaim will be a place for the spreading of nets. Their fish will be after their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceedingly many. 11 But its swamps marshes will not be healed. They will be given up to salt. 12 By the river banks, on both sides, will grow every tree for food, whose leaf won’t wither, neither will its fruit fail. It will produce new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary. Its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing."

13 The Lord Yahweh says: "This shall be the border by which you shall divide the land for inheritance according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions. 14 You shall inherit it, one as well as another; for I swore to give it to your fathers. This land will fall to you for inheritance.

15 "This shall be the border of the land:

"On the north side, from the great sea, by the way of Hethlon, to the entrance of Zedad; 16 Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim (which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath), to Hazer Hatticon, which is by the border of Hauran. 17 The border from the sea shall be Hazar Enon at the border of Damascus; and on the north northward is the border of Hamath. This is the north side.

18 "The east side, between Hauran, Damascus, Gilead, and the land of Israel, shall be the Jordan; from the north border to the east sea you shall measure. This is the east side.

19 "The south side southward shall be from Tamar as far as the waters of Meriboth Kadesh, to the brook, to the great sea. This is the south side southward.

20 "The west side shall be the great sea, from the south border as far as opposite the entrance of Hamath. This is the west side.

21 "So you shall divide this land to yourselves according to the tribes of Israel. 22 You shall divide it by lot for an inheritance to you and to the aliens who live among you, who will father children among you. Then they shall be to you as the native-born among the children of Israel. They shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel. 23 In whatever tribe the stranger lives, there you shall give him his inheritance," says the Lord Yahweh.
