1 Povo de Israel, escute!
Escutem, descendentes de Judá!
Vocês juram pelo nome do Senhor
e dizem que adoram ao Deus de Israel,
mas nisso não são honestos nem sinceros.
2 Vocês dizem que são moradores da cidade santa
e que confiam no Deus de Israel,
naquele que se chama Senhor Todo-Poderoso.
3 O Senhor diz a vocês:
"Há muito tempo, eu falei de coisas do futuro,
disse claramente o que ia acontecer.
De repente, agi, e tudo aconteceu como eu tinha dito.
4 Eu sabia que vocês são teimosos,
que são duros como o ferro ou o bronze.
5 Por isso, falei dessas coisas há muito tempo;
antes que elas acontecessem, eu as havia anunciado a vocês.
Portanto, vocês não podem dizer que foram as suas imagens e os seus ídolos
que fizeram essas coisas acontecerem.
6 "Tudo aconteceu como eu tinha dito,
e vocês precisam reconhecer que falei a verdade.
Mas agora vou falar de coisas novas,
de coisas secretas, que vocês ainda não conhecem.
7 Só agora é que vou fazer com que aconteçam;
vocês nunca tinham ouvido falar nelas
e assim não podem dizer que já as conheciam.
8 Eu sabia que não podia confiar em vocês;
sabia muito bem que sempre foram rebeldes.
Por isso, vocês não tinham ouvido essas coisas,
não sabiam que elas iam acontecer.
9 "Eu poderia ter descarregado a minha ira sobre vocês
e os poderia ter destruído completamente,
mas isso teria trazido desonra para o meu nome.
Portanto, tive paciência com vocês,
pois eu sou Deus e mereço que me louvem.
10 Eu os fiz sofrer, mas foi para purificá-los,
como a prata é purificada na fornalha.
11 É por amor ao meu próprio nome que vou agir;
não permito que o meu nome seja profanado.
Não deixo que nenhum outro deus
receba o louvor que somente eu mereço."
12 O Senhor Deus diz:
"Escute, povo de Israel,
o povo que eu escolhi!
Eu, o Senhor, sou o único Deus:
sou o primeiro e o último.
13 Com as minhas mãos, coloquei a terra no seu lugar
e estendi o céu.
Dei uma ordem,
e eles começaram a existir.
14 "Reúnam-se todos e escutem!
Nenhum dos deuses anunciou que ia acontecer isto:
o homem que eu, o Senhor, amo
fará o que eu quero
e com o meu poder atacará a Babilônia.
15 Fui eu mesmo quem o chamou;
dei a ordem, e ele veio.
Eu farei com que tudo o que ele fizer dê certo.
16 Agora, venham cá e escutem o que estou dizendo:
desde o princípio, nunca falei em segredo
e tenho governado todas as coisas desde que começaram."
Agora, o Senhor Deus me deu o seu Espírito e me enviou .
17 O Senhor, o Santo Deus de Israel,
o seu Salvador, diz ao seu povo:
"Eu sou o Senhor, seu Deus.
Eu os ensino para o seu próprio bem
e os guio no caminho que devem seguir.
18 Ah! Se vocês tivessem obedecido aos meus mandamentos!
A sua prosperidade iria aumentando
como se fosse uma enchente,
e as suas vitórias teriam sido constantes,
tão constantes como as ondas do mar.
19 Os seus descendentes seriam tantos
como os grãos de areia da praia do mar;
eu nunca os esqueceria,
e eles estariam sempre na minha presença."
20 Saiam da Babilônia, fujam de lá!
Com gritos de alegria,
anunciem esta boa notícia ao mundo inteiro:
"O Senhor salvou o seu servo,
o povo de Israel!"
21 Quando Deus guiou o seu povo pelo deserto,
ninguém ficou com sede;
ele fez com que corresse água da rocha,
ele partiu a rocha, e a água jorrou.
22 Mas o Senhor diz aos que praticam o mal:
"Para vocês não há segurança."

1 Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.2 For they call themselves after the holy city, and anchor themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.4 Because I knew that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew, and your brow bronze;5 I have even from the beginning declared it to you; before it came to pass I showed it to you: lest you should say, my idol has done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, has commanded them.6 You have heard, now see all this; and will you not declare it? I have showed you new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them.7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when you heard them not; lest you should say, Behold, I knew them.8 Yea, you heard not; yea, you knew not; yea, from of old your ear was not opened: for I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.9 For my name's sake will I defer my anger, and for my praise will I restrain it for you, that I cut you not off.10 Behold, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.11 For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be profaned? and I will not give my glory unto another.12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.13 My hand also has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.14 All you, assemble yourselves, and hear; who among them has declared these things? The LORD has loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.16 Come near unto me, hear this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, has sent me.17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.18 O that you had hearkened to my commandments! then had your peace been as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea:19 Your descendants also had been as the sand, and the offspring of your body like its grains; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.20 Go forth from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare you, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say, The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he split the rock also, and the waters gushed out.22 There is no peace, says the LORD, unto the wicked.
