1 Então Jó em resposta disse:
2 "Bildade, eu estou fraco, sem forças;
como você me ajuda e me consola!…
3 Como você é bom para dar conselhos
e gastar a sua sabedoria com um ignorante como eu!
4 Quem foi que o ajudou a dizer essas palavras?
Quem o inspirou a falar assim?"
5 "Os mortos tremem de medo
nas águas debaixo da terra.
6 Para Deus o mundo dos mortos é aberto;
não há cobertura que o impeça de ver o que lá acontece.
7 Deus estendeu o céu sobre o vazio
e suspendeu a terra por cima do nada.
8 Ele prende a água nas nuvens,
e elas não se rasgam com o seu peso.
9 Ele cobre a cara da lua cheia,
estendendo sobre ela uma nuvem.
10 Deus separou a luz da escuridão
por meio de um círculo desenhado no mar.
11 Quando ele ameaça as colunas que sustentam o céu,
elas se assustam e tremem de medo.
12 Com o seu poder, Deus dominou o Mar ;
com a sua inteligência, derrotou o monstro Raabe .
13 Com o seu sopro, Deus limpou o céu
e, com a sua mão, matou a Serpente fugitiva .
14 Mas essas coisas são apenas uma amostra,
um eco bem fraco do que Deus é capaz de fazer.
Quem pode compreender a verdadeira grandeza do seu poder?"

1 But Job answered and said,2 How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?3 How hast thou counseled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou abundantly declared the thing as it is?4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?5 Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.10 He hath encompassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.12 He divideth the sea by his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
