1 Um ramo surgirá do tronco de Jessé, e das suas raízes brotará um renovo.2 O Espírito do Senhor repousará sobre ele, o Espírito que dá sabedoria e entendimento, o Espírito que traz conselho e poder, o Espírito que dá conhecimento e temor do Senhor.3 E ele se inspirará no temor do Senhor. Não julgará pela aparência, nem decidirá com base no que ouviu;4 mas com retidão julgará os necessitados, com justiça tomará decisões em favor dos pobres. Com suas palavras, como se fossem um cajado, ferirá a terra; com o sopro de sua boca matará os ímpios.5 A retidão será a faixa de seu peito, e a fidelidade o seu cinturão.6 O lobo viverá com o cordeiro, o leopardo se deitará com o bode, o bezerro, o leão e o novilho gordo pastarão juntos; e uma criança os guiará.7 A vaca se alimentará com o urso, seus filhotes se deitarão juntos, e o leão comerá palha como o boi.8 A criancinha brincará perto do esconderijo da cobra, a criança colocará a mão no ninho da víbora.9 Ninguém fará nenhum mal, nem destruirá coisa alguma em todo o meu santo monte, pois a terra se encherá do conhecimento do Senhor como as águas cobrem o mar.10 Naquele dia as nações buscarão a Raiz de Jessé, que será como uma bandeira para os povos, e o seu lugar de descanso será glorioso.11 Naquele dia o Senhor estenderá o braço pela segunda vez para reivindicar o remanescente do seu povo que for deixado na Assíria, no Egito, em Patros, na Etiópia, em Elão, em Sinear, em Hamate e nas ilhas do mar.12 Ele erguerá uma bandeira para as nações a fim de reunir os exilados de Israel; ajuntará o povo disperso de Judá desde os quatro cantos da terra.13 O ciúme de Efraim desaparecerá, e a hostilidade de Judá será eliminada; Efraim não terá ciúme de Judá, nem Judá será hostil a Efraim.14 Eles se infiltrarão pelas encostas da Filístia, a oeste; juntos saquearão o povo do leste. Porão as mãos sobre Edom e Moabe, e os amonitas lhes estarão sujeitos.15 O Senhor fará secar o golfo do mar do Egito; com um forte vento varrerá com a mão o Eufrates, e o dividirá em sete riachos, para que se possa atravessá-lo de sandálias.16 Haverá uma estrada para o remanescente do seu povo que for deixado na Assíria, como houve para Israel quando saiu do Egito.

1 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse. And a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.2 And the Spirit of LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of LORD.3 And his delight shall be in the fear of LORD. And he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, nor decide according to the hearing of his ears,4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.5 And righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together. And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of LORD as the waters cover the sea.10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, and he who arises to rule over the Gentiles (LXX/NT). In him shall the Gentiles hope (LXX/NT), and his resting-place shall be glorious.11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that LORD will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from12 And he will set up an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, and those who vex Judah shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.14 And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west. Together they shall despoil the sons of the east. They shall put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.15 And LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea. And with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dry shod.16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, who shall remain, from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
