1 "Escute isto, ó comunidade de Jacó, vocês que são chamados pelo nome de Israel e vêm da linhagem de Judá, vocês que fazem juramentos pelo nome do Senhor e invocam o Deus de Israel, mas não em verdade ou retidão;2 vocês que chamam a si mesmos cidadãos da cidade santa e dependem do Deus de Israel; o Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome:3 Eu predisse há muito as coisas passadas, minha boca as anunciou, e eu as fiz conhecidas; então repentinamente agi, e elas aconteceram.4 Pois eu sabia o quão obstinado você era; os tendões de seu pescoço eram ferro, a sua testa era bronze.5 Por isso há muito lhe contei essas coisas; antes que acontecessem eu as anunciei a você para que você não pudesse dizer: ‘Meus ídolos as fizeram; minha imagem de madeira e meu deus de metal as determinaram’.6 Você tem ouvido essas coisas; olhe para todas elas. Você não irá admiti-las? De agora em diante eu lhe contarei coisas novas, coisas ocultas, que você desconhece.7 Elas foram criadas agora, e não há muito tempo; você nunca os conheceu antes. Por isso você não pode dizer: ‘Sim, eu as conhecia’.8 Você não tinha conhecimento nem entendimento; desde a antigüidade, o seu ouvido tem se fechado. Sei quão traiçoeiro você é; desde o nascimento você foi chamado rebelde.9 Por amor do meu próprio nome eu adio a minha ira; por amor de meu louvor eu a contive, para que você não fosse eliminado.10 Veja, eu refinei você, embora não como prata; eu o provei na fornalha da aflição.11 Por amor de mim mesmo, por amor de mim mesmo, eu faço isso. Como posso permitir que eu mesmo seja difamado? Não darei minha glória a um outro.12 "Escute-me, ó Jacó, Israel, a quem chamei: Eu sou sempre o mesmo; eu sou o primeiro e eu sou o último.13 Minha própria mão lançou os alicerces da terra, e a minha mão direita estendeu os céus; quando eu os convoco, todos juntos se põem de pé.14 "Reúnam-se, todos vocês, e escutem: Qual dos ídolos predisse essas coisas? O amado do Senhor cumprirá seu propósito contra a Babilônia; seu braço será contra os babilônios.15 Eu, eu mesmo, falei; sim, eu o chamei. Eu o trarei, e ele será bem sucedido em sua missão.16 "Aproximem-se de mim e escutem isto: "Desde o primeiro anúncio não falei secretamente; na hora em que acontecer, estarei ali. " E agora o Soberano Senhor me enviou, com seu Espírito.17 Assim diz o Senhor, o seu redentor, o Santo de Israel: "Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus, que lhe ensina o que é melhor para você, que o dirige no caminho em que você deve ir.18 Se tão-somente você tivesse prestado atenção às minhas ordens, sua paz seria como um rio, sua retidão, como as ondas do mar.19 Seus descendentes seriam como a areia, seus filhos, como seus inúmeros grãos; o nome deles jamais seria eliminado nem destruído de diante de mim".20 Deixem a Babilônia, fujam do meio dos babilônios! Anunciem isso com gritos de alegria e o proclamem. Enviem-no aos confins da terra; digam: "O Senhor resgatou seu servo Jacó".21 Não tiveram sede quando ele os conduziu através dos desertos; ele fez água fluir da rocha para eles; fendeu a rocha, e a água jorrou.22 "Não há paz alguma para os ímpios", diz o Senhor.

1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and have come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness2 (for they call themselves of the holy city, and steady themselves upon the God of Israel, LORD of hosts is his name):3 I have declared the former things from of old. Yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them. Suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.4 Because I knew that thou are obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass,5 therefore I have declared it to thee from of old. Before it came to pass I showed it to thee, lest thou should say, My idol has done them. And my graven image, and my molten image, has commanded them.6 Thou have heard it, behold all this, and ye, will ye not declare it? I have shown thee new things from this time, even hidden things, which thou have not known.7 They are created now, and not from of old. And thou have not heard them before this day, lest thou should say, Behold, I knew them.8 Yea, thou heard not. Yea, thou knew not. Yea, from of old thine ear was not opened. For I knew that thou dealt very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.9 For my name's sake I will defer my anger, and for my praise I will refrain for thee, that I not cut thee off.10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver. I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.11 For my own sake, for my own sake, I will do it. For how should [my name] be profaned? And I not will give my glory to another.12 Hearken to me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he. I am the first. I also am the last.13 Yea, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens. When I call to them, they stand up together.14 Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear: Who among them has declared these things? He whom LORD loves shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm, the Chaldeans.15 I, even I, have spoken, yea, I have called him. I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.16 Come ye near to me, hear ye this: From the beginning I have not spoken in secret. From the time that it was, there I am. And now lord LORD and his Spirit has sent me.17 Thus says LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am LORD thy God, who teaches thee to profit, who leads thee by the way that thou should go.18 Oh that thou had hearkened to my commandments! Then thy peace would have been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.19 Thy seed also would have been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains of it. His name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.20 Go ye forth from Babylon. Flee ye from the Chaldeans. With a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth. Say ye, LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.21 And they did not thirst when he led them through the deserts. He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them. He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out.22 There is no peace, says LORD, to the wicked.
