1 Ai de você, destruidor, que ainda não foi destruído! Ai de você, traidor, que não foi traído! Quando você parar de destruir, será destruído; quando parar de trair, será traído.2 Senhor, tem misericórdia de nós; pois por ti esperamos! Sê tu a nossa força cada manhã, nossa salvação na hora do perigo.3 Diante do trovão da tua voz, os povos fogem; quando te levantas, dispersam-se as nações.4 O seu despojo, ó nações, será reunido como fazem os gafanhotos novos; como gafanhotos em nuvem, dele se apoderam os homens.5 O Senhor é exaltado, pois habita no alto; ele encherá Sião de retidão e justiça.6 Ele será o firme fundamento nos tempos a que você pertence, uma grande riqueza de salvação, sabedoria e conhecimento; o temor do Senhor é a chave desse tesouro.7 Vejam! Os seus heróis gritam nas ruas; os embaixadores da paz choram amargamente.8 As estradas estão abandonadas, ninguém viaja por elas. Rompeu-se o acordo, suas testemunhas são desprezadas, não se respeita ninguém.9 A terra pranteia e fraqueja, o Líbano murcha, envergonhado; Sarom é como a Arabá, e Basã e o Carmelo perdem sua folhagem.10 "Agora me levantarei", diz o Senhor. "Agora eu me erguerei; agora serei exaltado.11 Vocês concebem palha, e dão à luz restolho; seu sopro é um fogo que o consome.12 Os povos serão queimados como se faz com a cal; como espinheiros cortados, serão postos no fogo. "13 Vocês que estão longe, atentem para o que eu fiz! Vocês, que estão perto, reconheçam o meu poder!14 Em Sião os pecadores estão aterrorizados; o tremor se apodera dos ímpios: "Quem de nós pode conviver com o fogo consumidor? Quem de nós pode conviver com a chama eterna? "15 Aquele que anda corretamente e fala o que é reto, que recusa o lucro injusto, cuja mão não aceita suborno, que tapa os ouvidos para as tramas de assassinatos e fecha os olhos para não contemplar o mal,16 é esse o homem que habitará nas alturas; seu refúgio será a fortaleza das rochas; terá suprimento de pão, e água não lhe faltará.17 Seus olhos verão o rei em seu esplendor e vislumbrarão o território em toda a sua extensão.18 Em seus pensamentos você lembrará terrores passados: "Onde está o oficial maior? Onde está o que recebia tributos? Onde o encarregado das torres? "19 Você não tornará a ver aquele povo arrogante, aquele povo de fala obscura, com sua língua estranha, incompreensível.20 Olhe para Sião, a cidade das nossas festas; seus olhos verão Jerusalém, morada pacífica, tenda que não será removida; suas estacas jamais serão arrancadas, nem se romperá nenhuma de suas cordas.21 Ali o Senhor será o Poderoso para nós. Será como uma região de rios e canais largos, mas nenhum navio a remo os percorrerá, e nenhuma nau poderosa velejará neles.22 Pois o Senhor é o nosso juiz, o Senhor é o nosso legislador, o Senhor é o nosso rei; é ele que nos salvará.23 Suas cordas se afrouxam: O mastro não está firme, as velas não estão estendidas. Então será dividida grande quantidade de despojos, e até o aleijado levará sua presa.24 Nenhum morador de Sião dirá: "Estou doente! " E os pecados dos que ali habitam serão perdoados.

1 Woe to thee who destroys, and thou were not destroyed, and deal treacherously, and they did not deal treacherously with thee! When thou have ceased to destroy, thou shall be destroyed, and when thou have made an end of dealing trea2 O LORD, be gracious to us, we have waited for thee. Be thou our arm every morning, also our salvation in the time of trouble.3 At the noise of the tumult the peoples have fled. At the lifting up of thyself the nations are scattered.4 And your spoil shall be gathered as the caterpillar gathers. As locusts leap, men shall leap upon it.5 LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high. He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.6 And there shall be stability in thy times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of LORD is thy treasure.7 Behold, their valiant ones cry outside. The ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.8 The highways lay waste. The wayfaring man ceases. [The enemy] has broken the covenant. He has despised the cities. He does not regard man.9 The land mourns and languishes. Lebanon is confounded and withers away. Sharon is like a desert, and Bashan and Carmel shake off [their leaves].10 Now I will arise, says LORD. Now I will lift up myself. Now I will be exalted.11 Ye shall conceive chaff. Ye shall bring forth stubble. Your breath is a fire that shall devour you.12 And the peoples shall be as the burnings of lime, as thorns cut down that are burned in the fire.13 Hear, ye who are far off, what I have done, and ye who are near, acknowledge my might.14 The sinners in Zion are afraid. Trembling has seized the profane. Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?15 He who walks righteously, and speaks uprightly. He who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands from taking a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking upon evil.16 He shall dwell on high. His place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks. His bread shall be given. His waters shall be sure.17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty. They shall behold a land that reaches afar.18 Thy heart shall muse on the terror. Where is he who counted? Where is he who weighed [the tribute]? Where is he who counted the towers?19 Thou shall not see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that thou cannot comprehend, of a strange tongue that thou cannot understand.20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities. Thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tent that shall not be removed. The stakes of which shall never be plucked up, nor shall any of the cords of it be broken.21 But LORD will be with us there in majesty. A place of broad rivers and streams, in which shall go no galley with oars, nor shall a gallant ship pass thereby.22 For LORD is our judge. LORD is our lawgiver. LORD is our king, he will save us.23 Thy tacklings are loosed. They could not strengthen the foot of their mast. They could not spread the sail. Then the prey of a great spoil was divided. The lame took the prey.24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick. The people who dwell in it shall be forgiven their iniquity.
