1 O deserto e a terra ressequida se regozijarão; o ermo exultará e florescerá como a tulipa;2 irromperá em flores, mostrará grande regozijo e cantará de alegria. A glória do Líbano lhe será dada, como também o resplendor do Carmelo e de Sarom; verão a glória do Senhor, o resplendor do nosso Deus.3 Fortaleçam as mãos cansadas, firmem os joelhos vacilantes;4 digam aos desanimados de coração: "Sejam fortes, não temam! Seu Deus virá, virá com vingança; com divina retribuição virá para salvá-los".5 Então se abrirão os olhos dos cegos e se destaparão os ouvidos dos surdos.6 Então os coxos saltarão como o cervo, e a língua do mudo cantará de alegria. Águas irromperão no ermo e riachos no deserto.7 A areia abrasadora se tornará um lago; a terra seca, fontes borbulhantes. Nos antros onde outrora havia chacais, crescerão a relva, o junco e o papiro.8 E ali haverá uma grande estrada, um caminho que será chamado Caminho de Santidade. Os impuros não passarão por ele; servirá apenas aos que são do Caminho; os insensatos não o tomarão.9 Ali não haverá leão algum, e nenhum animal feroz passará por ele; não se acharão ali. Só os redimidos andarão por ele,10 e os que o Senhor resgatou voltarão. Entrarão em Sião com cantos de alegria; duradoura alegria coroará suas cabeças. Júbilo e alegria se apoderarão deles, e a tristeza e o suspiro fugirão.

1 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad. And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of LORD, the excellency of our God.3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not. Behold, your God will come [with] vengeance, [with] the recompense of God. He will come and save you.5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.6 Then the lame man shall leap as a hart, and the tongue of the mute shall sing. For waters in the wilderness shall break out, and streams in the desert.7 And the glowing sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. In the habitation of jackals, where they lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.8 And a highway shall be there, and a way. And it shall be called The way of holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but is shall be for [the redeemed], the wayfaring men. Yea fools shall not err [in it].9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up in it. They shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk [there].10 And the ransomed of LORD shall return, and come with singing to Zion. And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain gladness and joy. And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
