1 No quarto ano do reinado de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, depois que Baruque, filho de Nerias, escreveu num rolo as palavras ditadas por Jeremias, este lhe disse:2 "Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, a você, Baruque:3 Você disse, ‘Ai de mim! Você deveria buscar coisas especiais para você? Não as busque; pois trarei desgraça sobre toda a humanidade’, diz o Senhor, ‘mas eu o deixarei escapar com vida onde quer que você vá’ ".

1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these word in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,2 Thus says LORD, the God of Israel, to thee, O Baruch:3 Thou said, Woe is me now!
