1 Assim me disse o Senhor: "Vá comprar um cinto de linho e ponha-o em volta da cintura, mas não o deixe encostar na água".2 Comprei um cinto e o pus em volta da cintura, como o Senhor me havia instruído.3 O Senhor me dirigiu a palavra pela segunda vez, dizendo:4 "Pegue o cinto que você comprou e está usando, vá agora a Perate e esconda-o ali numa fenda da rocha".5 Assim, fui e o escondi em Perate, conforme o Senhor me havia ordenado.6 Depois de muitos dias, o Senhor me disse: "Vá agora a Perate e pegue o cinto que lhe ordenei que escondesse ali".7 Então fui a Perate, desenterrei o cinto e o tirei do lugar em que o havia escondido. O cinto estava podre e se tornara completamente inútil.8 E o Senhor dirigiu-me a palavra, dizendo:9 "Assim diz o Senhor: Do mesmo modo também arruinarei o orgulho de Judá e o orgulho desmedido de Jerusalém.10 Este povo ímpio, que se recusa a ouvir as minhas palavras, que age segundo a dureza de seus corações, seguindo outros deuses para prestar-lhes culto e adorá-los, que este povo seja como aquele cinto: completamente inútil!11 Assim como um cinto se apega à cintura de um homem, da mesma forma fiz com que toda a comunidade de Israel e toda a comunidade de Judá se apegasse a mim, para que fosse o meu povo para o meu renome, louvor e honra. Mas eles não me ouviram", declara o Senhor.12 "Diga-lhes também: ‘Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Deve-se encher de vinho toda vasilha de couro’. E, se eles lhe disserem: ‘Será que não sabemos que se deve encher de vinho toda vasilha de couro? ’13 Então você lhes dirá: ‘Assim diz o Senhor: Farei com que fiquem totalmente embriagados todos os habitantes desta terra, bem como os reis que se assentam no trono de Davi, os sacerdotes, os profetas e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém.14 Eu os despedaçarei, colocando uns contra os outros, os pais e os filhos, diz o Senhor. Nem a piedade, nem a misericórdia nem a compaixão me impedirão de destruí-los’ ".15 Escutem e dêem atenção, não sejam arrogantes, pois o Senhor falou.16 Dêem glória ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, antes que ele traga trevas, antes que os pés de vocês tropecem nas colinas ao escurecer. Vocês esperam a luz, mas ele fará dela uma escuridão profunda sim, ele a transformará em densas trevas.17 Mas, se vocês não ouvirem, eu chorarei em segredo por causa do orgulho de vocês. Todo o Judá foi levado para o exílio, todos os exilados.20 Erga os olhos, Jerusalém, e veja aqueles que vêm do norte. Onde está o rebanho que lhe foi confiado, as ovelhas das quais você se orgulhava?21 O que você dirá quando sobre você dominarem aqueles que você sempre teve como aliados? Você não irá sentir dores como as de uma mulher em trabalho de parto?22 E se você se perguntar: ‘Por que aconteceu isso comigo? ’, saiba que foi por causa dos seus muitos pecados que as suas vestes foram levantadas e você foi violentada.23 Será que o etíope pode mudar a sua pele? Ou o leopardo as suas pintas? Assim também vocês são incapazes de fazer o bem, vocês que estão acostumados a praticar o mal.24 "Espalharei vocês como a palha levada pelo vento do deserto.25 Esta é a sua parte, a porção que lhe determinei", declara o Senhor, "porque você se esqueceu de mim e confiou em deuses falsos.26 Eu mesmo levantarei as suas vestes até o seu rosto para que as suas vergonhas sejam expostas,27 Tenho visto os seus atos repugnantes os seus adultérios, os seus relinchos, a sua prostituição desavergonhada sobre as colinas e nos campos. 1 Thus says LORD to me, Go, and buy thee a linen sash, and put it upon thy loins, and do not put it in water.2 So I bought a sash according to the word of LORD, and put it upon my loins.3 And the word of LORD came to me the second time, saying,4 Take the sash that thou have bought, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.5 So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as LORD commanded me.6 And it came to pass after many days, that LORD said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the sash from there, which I commanded thee to hide there.7 Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the sash from the place where I had hid it. And, behold, the sash was rotten. It was good for nothing.8 Then the word of LORD came to me, saying,9 Thus says LORD, After this manner I will mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.10 This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this sash, which is good for nothing.11 For as the sash clings to the loins of a man, so I have caused to cling to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says LORD, that they may be to me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory12 Therefore thou shall speak to them this word. Thus says LORD, the God of Israel: Every bottle shall be filled with wine. And they shall say to thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?13 Then thou shall say to them, Thus says LORD: Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkennes14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says LORD. I will not pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them.15 Hear ye, and give ear, be not proud, for LORD has spoken.16 Give glory to LORD your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains. And, while ye look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for [your] pride. And my eye shall weep greatly, and run down with tears, because LORD's flock is taken captive.18 Say thou to the king and to the queen-mother: Humble yourselves. Sit down, for your coronets have come down, even the crown of your glory.19 The cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open them. Judah is carried away captive, all of it. It is wholly carried away captive.20 Lift up your eyes, and behold those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?21 What will thou say when he shall set over thee as head those whom thou thyself have taught to be friends to thee? Shall not sorrows take hold of thee as of a woman in travail?22 And if thou say in thy heart, Why have these things come upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity thy skirts are uncovered, and thy heels suffer violence.23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then ye also may do good, who are accustomed to do evil.24 Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.25 This is thy lot, the portion measured to thee from me, says LORD, because thou have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.26 Therefore I will also uncover thy skirts upon thy face, and thy shame shall appear.27 I have seen thine abominations, even thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, on the hills, in the field. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem! Thou will not be made clean. How long shall it yet be?
