"Ele lhes disse: ‘Vão vocês também trabalhar na vinha’.8 "Ao cair da tarde, o dono da vinha disse a seu administrador: ‘Chame os trabalhadores e pague-lhes o salário, começando com os últimos contratados e terminando nos primeiros’.9 "Vieram os trabalhadores contratados por volta das cinco horas da tarde, e cada um recebeu um denário.10 Quando vieram os que tinham sido contratados primeiro, esperavam receber mais. Mas cada um deles também recebeu um denário.11 Quando o receberam, começaram a se queixar do proprietário da vinha,12 dizendo-lhe: ‘Estes homens contratados por último trabalharam apenas uma hora, e o senhor os igualou a nós, que suportamos o peso do trabalho e o calor do dia’.13 "Mas ele respondeu a um deles: ‘Amigo, não estou sendo injusto com você. Você não concordou em trabalhar por um denário?14 Receba o que é seu e vá. Eu quero dar ao que foi contratado por último o mesmo que lhe dei.15 Não tenho o direito de fazer o que quero com o meu dinheiro? Ou você está com inveja porque sou generoso? ’16 "Assim, os últimos serão primeiros, e os primeiros serão últimos".17 Enquanto estava subindo para Jerusalém, Jesus chamou em particular os doze discípulos e lhes disse:18 "Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, e o Filho do homem será entregue aos chefes dos sacerdotes e aos mestres da lei. Eles o condenarão à morte19 e o entregarão aos gentios para que zombem dele, o açoitem e o crucifiquem. No terceiro dia ele ressuscitará! "20 Então, aproximou-se de Jesus a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu com seus filhos e, prostrando-se, fez-lhe um pedido.21 "O que você quer? ", perguntou ele. Ela respondeu: "Declara que no teu Reino estes meus dois filhos se assentarão um à tua direita e o outro à tua esquerda".22 Disse-lhes Jesus: "Vocês não sabem o que estão pedindo. Podem vocês beber o cálice que eu vou beber? " "Podemos", responderam eles.23 Jesus lhes disse: "Certamente vocês beberão do meu cálice; mas o assentar-se à minha direita ou à minha esquerda não cabe a mim conceder. Esses lugares pertencem àqueles para quem foram preparados por meu Pai".24 Quando os outros dez ouviram isso, ficaram indignados com os dois irmãos.25 Jesus os chamou e disse: "Vocês sabem que os governantes das nações as dominam, e as pessoas importantes exercem poder sobre elas.26 Não será assim entre vocês. Pelo contrário, quem quiser tornar-se importante entre vocês deverá ser servo,27 e quem quiser ser o primeiro deverá ser escravo;28 como o Filho do homem, que não veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar a sua vida em resgate por muitos".29 Ao saírem de Jericó, uma grande multidão seguiu a Jesus.30 Dois cegos estavam sentados à beira do caminho e, quando ouviram falar que Jesus estava passando, puseram-se a gritar: "Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós! "31 A multidão os repreendeu para que ficassem quietos, mas eles gritavam ainda mais: "Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós! "32 Jesus, parando, chamou-os e perguntou-lhes: "O que vocês querem que eu lhes faça? "33 Responderam eles: "Senhor, queremos que se abram os nossos olhos".34 Jesus teve compaixão deles e tocou nos olhos deles. Imediatamente eles recuperaram a visão e o seguiram.

1 For the kingdom of the heavens is compared to a man, a house-ruler, who went out in the early morning at the same time to hire workmen for his vineyard.2 And having agreed with the workmen for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.3 And having gone out about the third hour, he saw others having stood idle in the marketplace.4 And he said to those men, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatever would be right I will give you, and they went.5 Again having gone out about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did likewise.6 And having gone out about the eleventh hour, he found others who have stood idle. And he says to them, Why have ye stood here idle the whole day?7 They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatever would be right ye will receive.8 And having become evening, the lord of the vineyard says to his manager, Call the workmen, and render to them their wage, having begun from the last until the first.9 And those who came about the eleventh hour, each received a denarius.10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more. And they also received a denarius each.11 And when they received it, they murmured against the house-ruler,12 saying, These last did one hour, and thou have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat.13 But having answered, he said to one of them, Friend, I do not wrong thee. Did thou not agree with me for a denarius?14 Take thine and go. But I want to give to this last man, as to thee also.15 Is it not permitted for me to do what I want with my own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?16 So the last will be first, and the first last, for many are called but few chosen.17 And while going up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples in private on the way, and he said to them,18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and scholars. And they will condemn him to death,19 and will deliver him to the Gentiles to ridicule, and to scourge, and to crucify. And the third day he will rise.20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, worshiping, and asking something from him.21 And he said to her, What do thou want? She says to him, Speak that these my two sons may sit, one at thy right hand and one at thy left hand in thy kingdom.22 But having answered, Jesus said, Ye know not what ye are asking. Are ye able to drink the cup that I am going to drink, or to be immersed the immersion that I am immersed? They say to him, We are able.23 And he says to them, Ye will indeed drink my cup, and ye will be immersed the immersion that I am immersed. But to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but to whom it has been prepared by my Father.24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant about the two brothers.25 But having summoned them, Jesus said, Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord over them, and their eminent men have power over them.26 But it shall not be so among you. Rather whoever wants to become great among you, he shall be your helper,27 and whoever wants be first among you shall be your bondman.28 Just as the Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.29 And when they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Be merciful to us, Lord, thou son of David.31 And the multitude rebuked them, so that they would be quiet, but they cried out greater, saying, Be merciful to us, Lord, thou son of David.32 And having stood still, Jesus called them and said, What do ye want that I would do to you?33 They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.34 And having felt compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and straightaway they received their sight, and followed him.
