1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: 2 "Diz a Aarão e aos seus filhos que tenham muito cuidado em não profanar o meu santo nome, ao não consagrarem as ofertas sagradas do povo. Eu sou o Senhor.

3 Daqui em diante e para sempre, se um sacerdote que está cerimonialmente impuro sacrificar animais trazidos pelo povo, ou se manusear ofertas consagradas ao Senhor, será desqualificado do seu sacerdócio. Eu sou o Senhor!

4 Nenhum sacerdote que for leproso ou tiver um corrimento poderá comer das coisas sagradas enquanto não estiver curado. Qualquer sacerdote que tocar em alguma coisa tornada impura pelo contacto com um morto ou um homem que teve uma emissão seminal, 5 ou tocar num réptil ou em qualquer outra coisa proibida, ou que tocar mesmo noutro indivíduo cerimonialmente impuro por uma razão qualquer, 6 esse sacerdote será impuro até ao cair da noite, e não deverá comer dos sacrifícios santos antes de se ter lavado nessa noite. 7 Depois do pôr-do-sol, estará novamente puro e poderá comer do alimento santo, pois trata-se daquilo que o faz viver. 8 Não poderá comer nenhum animal encontrado morto ou que tenha sido despedaçado por outro, porque isto torná-lo-ia impuro. Eu sou o Senhor.

9 Avisa os sacerdotes que sigam cuidadosamente estas instruções pois correm o risco de serem considerados culpados e de virem a morrer por terem violado estas regras. Eu sou o Senhor que vos santifica.

10 Ninguém poderá comer dos santos sacrifícios a não ser um sacerdote; ninguém que esteja, por exemplo, de visita a um sacerdote poderá comer desse alimento; tão-pouco alguém que esteja a trabalhar por sua conta. 11 Há contudo uma exceção; se o sacerdote comprar um escravo com o seu próprio dinheiro, esse escravo poderá comer disso, assim como os filhos dos escravos que nascerem na sua casa. 12 Se a filha de um sacerdote se casar fora da sua tribo, não poderá comer mais desses sacrifícios. 13 Mas se enviuvar ou se se tiver divorciado, e não tiver nenhum filho que a mantenha, e se tiver regressado à casa do seu pai, pode então tornar a comer do alimento do pai. Fora disto, ninguém que não pertença às famílias sacerdotais poderá comer deste alimento.

14 Se alguém vier a comer dos sacrifícios sagrados, sem se dar conta do que está a fazer, deverá devolver ao sacerdote o equivalente daquilo que tomou, acrescido da quinta parte; 15 porque os sacrifícios sagrados trazidos pelo povo de Israel não devem ser profanados ao serem comidos por pessoas não indicadas para tal, porque se trata de coisas oferecidas ao Senhor. 16 Quem quer que seja que violar esta lei será culpado de algo que exige uma reparação, pois comeu das ofertas sagradas. Porque eu sou o Senhor que santifica essas ofertas."

17 O Senhor disse a Moisés: 18 "Diz a Aarão e aos seus filhos e a todo o povo de Israel que se um israelita ou outra pessoa que viver entre vocês fizer um sacrifício de holocausto ao Senhor, seja para cumprir uma promessa ou como oferta espontânea, 19 só será aceitável se for um animal macho sem defeito; deverá ser um novilho, um cordeiro ou uma cabra. 20 Nada que tenha defeito deverá ser ofertado, porque não seria aceite. 21 Alguém que faça uma oferta de paz ao Senhor tirada do rebanho das vacas ou das ovelhas, seja para cumprir um voto ou como uma oferta voluntária, deverá escolher um animal sem defeito, ou então não será aceite. 22 Um animal cego, com um membro partido ou aleijado, que tenha verrugas, sarna ou uma doença de pele qualquer, não deverá ser oferecido ao Senhor. 23 Se o boi ou o cordeiro apresentado ao Senhor tiver alguma parte do corpo ou um membro maior ou mais pequeno que os outros pode ser oferecido como oferta voluntária, mas não para cumprimento de um voto. 24 Um animal que seja ferido, esmagado, partido ou cortado não deverá ser oferecido ao Senhor em nenhuma altura. 25 Estas restrições aplicam-se aos sacrifícios feitos tanto pelos estrangeiros que estão no vosso meio como pelos que vocês mesmos fazem, pois nenhum animal defeituoso será aceite para este sacrifício."

26 E o Senhor disse a Moisés: 27 "Quando nascer um boi, um cordeiro ou uma cabra, ficará sete dias com a sua mãe, mas a partir do oitavo dia poderá ser apresentado como oferta queimada ao Senhor. 28 Não degolarás a mãe com a sua cria, no mesmo dia, quer se trate de um boi ou de gado miúdo.

29 Quando oferecerem ao Senhor um sacrifício de gratidão, deverão fazer isso corretamente, 30 comendo o animal do sacrifício no mesmo dia em que for morto. Não deixem nada para o dia seguinte. Eu sou o Senhor.

31 Guardem todos os meus mandamentos. Eu sou o Senhor.

32 Não devem tratar as coisas que me dizem respeito como se fossem comuns e vulgares. Reverenciem-me e santifiquem-me, porque eu, o Senhor, vos fiz santos, 33 e vos resgatei do Egito para que sejam o meu povo. Eu sou Senhor."

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. 3 Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. 4 What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;*22.4 running…: Heb. running of the reins 5 Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath; 6 The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water. 7 And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food. 8 That which dieth of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith: I am the LORD. 9 They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.

10 There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. 11 But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.*22.11 with…: Heb. with the purchase of his money 12 If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.*22.12 a stranger: Heb. a man a stranger 13 But if the priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s meat: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.

14 And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing. 15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD; 16 Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.*22.16 suffer…: or, lade themselves with the iniquity of trespass in their eating

17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18 Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering; 19 Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats. 20 But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you. 21 And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.*22.21 sheep: or, goats 22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD. 23 Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.*22.23 lamb: or, kid 24 Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land. 25 Neither from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.

26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 28 And whether it be cow or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.*22.28 ewe: or, she goat 29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will. 30 On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD. 31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD. 32 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you, 33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD.
