1 Estas são as mensagens que, da parte do Senhor, foram comunicadas a Miqueias. Miqueias vivia na cidade de Moresete, durante os reinados de Jotão, Acaz e Ezequias, todos reis de Judá. Estas palavras do Senhor dirigem-se a Samaria e a Judá; Miqueias recebeu-as sob forma de visões.

2 Prestem atenção! Que todos os povos do mundo ouçam. O Senhor no seu santo templo tem acusações contra vocês!

3 O Senhor está a chegar! Está a deixar o seu trono no céu e vem até à Terra, andando sobre o cimo dos montes; estes derretem-se sob os seus pés, e escorrem em direcção dos vales como cera, sobre fogo, como água jorrando de uma encosta.

5 Por que razão está isto a acontecer? Por causa dos pecados de Israel e de Judá. Quais pecados? A idolatria e a transgressão que se intensificam nas cidades capitais: em Samaria e em Jerusalém.

6 Por isso toda a cidade de Samaria se desmoronará. Será transformada num campo aberto, as suas ruas serão lavradas para se plantarem vinhas! O Senhor deitará abaixo as muralhas, deixando-lhe os alicerces a descoberto; os blocos de pedra dessas construções rolarão até aos vales em baixo.

7 Todas as imagens esculpidas que lá havia serão feitas em mil pedaços; os templos da idolatria, belamente decorados, erguidos com o dinheiro de pagas de prostitutas, também em templos de prostituição se tornarão.

8 Por isso levanto este lamento, que é semelhante ao uivo de um chacal, ao grito de uma avestruz, atravessando as areias de um deserto, de noite. Andarei despido e descalço, na tristeza e na vergonha.

9 Porque a ferida do meu povo é demasiado profunda para se curar; estendeu-se por todo Judá; chegou até à porta de Jerusalém.

10 Não o declarem em Gate. Não chorem! Em Bete-le-Afra revolve-te no pó, com angústia e vergonha. Ali vão os moradores de Safir , levados como escravos - desamparados, nús, vexados. O povo de Zaanã nem ousa sequer mostrar-se fora das suas muralhas. Os alicerces de Bete-Ezel foram descobertos e desapareceram - eram os únicos fundamentos sobre os quais se mantinha.

12 O povo de Marote em vão esperou por melhores dias; mas é só amargura que espera por eles, enquanto o Senhor se mantiver contra Jerusalém.

13 Depressa! Preparem já os vossos mais rápidos carros e fujam neles, ó povo de Laquis, porque vocês foram os primeiros, de todas as cidades de Judá, a seguir Israel no seu pecado de idolatria. Foi depois de vocês que todas as outras cidades do sul foram atrás do vosso exemplo.

14 Por isso darás presentes de despedida a Moresete de Gate; não há esperança de salvação para eles. A cidade de Aczibe enganou os reis de Israel, pois prometeu uma ajuda que não pode dar.

15 Vocês, gente de Maressa, tornar-se-ão um prémio para os que vos tomarem. Aquele que é a glória de Israel virá até Adulão.

16 Chorem, chorem pelas vossas criancinhas. Rapa o cabelo até ficares calvo como o abutre. Os seus moradores partirão como escravos. Rapem as vossas cabeças em sinal de pesar!

1 The word of Yahweh which came unto Micah the Morashtite, in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah,of which he had vision concerning Samaria, and Jerusalem:

2 Hear ye peoples, all of you, Hearken, O earth and the fulness thereof,and let My Lord Yahweh be among you for a witness, My Lord out of his holy temple.

3 For lo! Yahweh, coming forth out of his place,that he may descend, and march along upon the high places of the earth.

4 Then shall the mountains be melted beneath him, and, the valleys, be cleft,as wax before the fire, as waters poured out in a steep place.

5 For the transgression of Jacob, is all this, and for the sin of the house of Israel,Whose is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samarias? And whose is the sin of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?

6 Therefore will I make of Samaria a heap in a field, the plantings in a vineyard,and I will pour down, into the valley, her stones, and, her foundations, will I lay bare;

7 And, all her images, shall be beaten in pieces, and, all her rewards for unchastity, shall be burned in the fire, and, all her idols, will I make a desolation,for, out of the reward of unchastity, she gathered

8 For this cause, will I lament and howl, I will go stript and bare,I will make a lamentation, like the wild dogs, and a mourning, like ostriches.

9 For dangerous are her wounds,for she hath come as far as Judah, she hath reached as far as the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem.

10 In Gath, do not tell, in Accho, do not weep,in Beth-laphrah, roll yourselves in dust.

11 Pass thou over (for you), thou inhabitress of Shaphir, of disgraceful disclosure,the inhabitress of Zaanan, hath not gone forth, at the lamentation of Beth-ezel, shall he take from you his station,

12 Though the inhabitress of Maroth waited for blessing,yet there came down calamity from Yahweh, to the gate of Jerusalem.

13 Bind the chariot to the steed, O inhabitress of Lachish,the beginning of sin, was she to the daughter of Zion, for, in thee, have been found the transgressions of Israel.

14 Therefore, shalt thou give a dismission, against Moresheth-gath,The houses of Achzib, served for a deception to the kings of Israel.

15 The time shall yet be when, the heir, I will bring unto thee, O inhabitress of Mareshah,as far as Adullam, shall enter the glory of Israel.

16 Make thee bald, and cut off thy hair, for the children of thy pleasures,enlarge thy baldness, like a vulture, for they are exiled from thee.
