1 And so it came to pass, in the four hundred and eightieth year, by the coming forth of the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year (in the month of Zif, the same, being the second month) of the reign over Israel, that he began to build the house unto Yahweh.2 Now, the house which King Solomon built unto Yahweh, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty in breadth,and thirty cubits in height.3 And, the porch in front of the temple of the house, was twenty cubits in length, according to the breadth of the house,ten cubits in breadth, in front of the house.4 And he made to the house windows, with closed bars.5 And he builtby the wall of the housea gallery, round about, against the walls of the house, round about, both to the temple, and to the shrine,and he made side chambers round about.6 The, lowest gallery, was five cubits broad, and, the middle, six cubits broad, and, the third, seven cubits broad,for he put, ledges, against the house round about, on the outer side, so as not to make fastenings in the walls of the house.7 Now, the house, when it was in building, with whole quarry-stones, was built,neither hammer, nor axe, nor any tools of iron, was heard in the house, when it was in building.8 The entrance of the lowest story, was on the right side of the house,and, by winding stairs, went they up unto the middle , and, out of the middle, into, the third.9 So he built the house, and finished it,and ceiled the house with planks and beams of cedar;10 and built the gallery against all the house, five cubits in height,and so fastened the house, with timber of cedar.11 Then came the word of Yahweh unto Solomon, saying:12 Concerning this house, which thou art building, If thou wilt walk in my statutes, and, my regulations, wilt practise, and so observe all my commandments, by walking in them, Then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father;13 and will make my habitation in the midst of the sons of Israel,and will not forsake my people Israel.14 Thus Solomon built the house, and finished it;15 and he built the walls of the house on the inside, with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house, unto the cross-beams of the ceiling, he overlaid it with wood, on the inside,and he overlaid the floor of the house with boards of fir.16 And he built twenty cubits, at the hinder part of the house, with boards of cedar, from the floor as far as the cross-beams,and he built it within, for a shrine, even for the holy of holies;17 but, forty cubits, was the house itself,the same, was the temple, before the oracle.18 And, the cedar for the house within, was carved with colocynths, and with festoons of flowers,the whole, was cedar, there was no stone to be seen.19 And, the shrine in the midst of the house within, made he ready,for placing there, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.20 And, the interior of the shrine, was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in height, and he overlaid it, with pure gold,and overlaid the altar with cedar.21 Thus then did Solomon overlay the house within, with pure gold,and he drew chains of gold across the front of the shrine, and overlaid it with gold;22 yea, all the house, overlaid he with gold, until he had made all the house into one whole,even all the altar that was by the shrine, overlaid he with gold.23 And he made, within the shrine, two cherubim of wild olive wood,ten cubits in height;24 and, five cubits, was the one wing of the cherub, and, five cubits, the second wing of the cherub,ten cubits, from the one end of his wings unto the other end of his wings.25 Ten cubits, also was the second cherub,of one size and one shape, were the two cherubim.26 The height of the one cherub, was ten cubits,and, so, of the second cherub.27 And he placed the cherubim in the midst of the inner house, and the cherubim stretched forth their wings,so that the wing of the one touched the wall, and the wing of the other cherub, was touching the other wall,and, their wings in the midst of the house, were touching, wing to wing.28 And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.29 And, all the walls of the house round about, carved he with figures of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers,within and without.30 Even the floor of the house, overlaid he with gold,within and without.31 And, the entrance of the shrine, made he with doors, of wild olive-wood, the pillars and posts being a fifth.32 The two doors, also were of olive-wood, and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold,yea he spread out, over the cherubim and over the palm-trees, the gold.33 So, also, made he for the entrance of the temple, with posts of wild olive-wood,a fourth part.34 And, the two doors, were of fir wood,the two leaves of the one door, were folding, and, the two leaves of the other door, were folding.35 And he carved cherubim, and palm-trees, and festoons of flowers, and overlaid them with gold, smoothed out on the carved work.36 And he built the inner court, with three rows of hewn stone,and a row of beams of cedar.37 In the fourth year, was laid the foundation of the house of Yahweh,in the month Zif;38 and, in the eleventh year, in the month Bulthe same, is the eighth month, was the house finished, as to all the particulars thereof, and as to all the appointments thereof,so then he built it in seven years.

1 E sucedeu que, no ano quatrocentos e oitenta, depois de saírem os filhos de Israel do Egito, no ano quarto do reinado de Salomão sobre Israel, no mês de zive (este é o mês segundo), Salomão começou a edificar a Casa do Senhor. 2 E a casa que o rei Salomão edificou ao Senhor era de sessenta côvados de comprimento, e de vinte côvados de largura, e de trinta côvados de altura. 3 E o pórtico diante do templo da casa era de vinte côvados de comprimento, segundo a largura da casa, e de dez côvados de largura, diante da casa. 4 E fez à casa janelas de vista estreita. 5 Edificou ao redor da parede da casa câmaras, ao redor das paredes da casa, tanto do templo como do oráculo; e assim lhe fez câmaras colaterais em redor. 6 A câmara de baixo era de cinco côvados de largura, e a do meio, de seis côvados de largura, e a terceira, de sete côvados de largura, porque, pela parte de fora da casa ao redor, fizera encostos, para não travarem as paredes da casa. 7 E edificava-se a casa com pedras preparadas; como as traziam, se edificava, de maneira que nem martelo, nem machado, nem nenhum outro instrumento de ferro se ouviu na casa quando a edificavam. 8 A porta da câmara do meio estava do lado direito da casa, e por caracóis se subia à do meio, e da do meio, à terceira. 9 Assim, pois, edificou a casa, e a aperfeiçoou, e cobriu a casa com pranchões e tabuados de cedro. 10 Também edificou as câmaras a toda a casa, de cinco côvados de altura, e as travou com a casa com madeira de cedro.

11 Então, veio a palavra do Senhor a Salomão, dizendo: 12 Quanto a esta casa que tu edificas, se andares nos meus estatutos, e fizeres os meus juízos, e guardares todos os meus mandamentos, andando neles, confirmarei para contigo a minha palavra, a qual falei a Davi, teu pai; 13 e habitarei no meio dos filhos de Israel e não desampararei o meu povo de Israel.

14 Assim edificou Salomão aquela casa e a aperfeiçoou. 15 Também cobriu as paredes da casa por dentro com tábuas de cedro; desde o soalho da casa até ao teto, tudo cobriu com madeira por dentro e cobriu o soalho da casa com tábuas de faia. 16 Edificou mais vinte côvados de tábuas de cedro nos lados da casa, desde o soalho até às paredes, e por dentro lhas edificou para o oráculo, para o Santo dos Santos. 17 Era, pois, a casa de quarenta côvados, a saber, o templo interior. 18 E o cedro da casa por dentro era lavrado de botões e flores abertas; tudo era cedro; pedra nenhuma se via. 19 E, por dentro da casa interior, preparou o oráculo, para pôr ali a arca do concerto do Senhor. 20 E o oráculo no interior era de vinte côvados de comprimento, e de vinte côvados de largura, e de vinte côvados de altura; e o cobriu de ouro puro e também cobriu de cedro o altar. 21 E cobriu Salomão a casa por dentro de ouro puro, e, com cadeias de ouro, pôs um véu diante do oráculo, e o cobriu com ouro. 22 Assim, toda a casa cobriu de ouro, até acabar toda a casa; também todo o altar que estava diante do oráculo cobriu de ouro.

23 E, no oráculo, fez dois querubins de madeira de oliveira, cada um da altura de dez côvados. 24 E uma asa de um querubim era de cinco côvados, e a outra asa do querubim, de outros cinco côvados; dez côvados havia desde a extremidade de uma das suas asas até à extremidade da outra das suas asas. 25 Assim era também de dez côvados o outro querubim; ambos os querubins eram de uma mesma medida e de um mesmo talhe. 26 A altura de um querubim, de dez côvados, e, assim, a do outro querubim. 27 E pôs estes querubins no meio da casa de dentro; e os querubins estendiam as asas, de maneira que a asa de um tocava na parede, e a asa do outro querubim tocava na outra parede, e as suas asas no meio da casa tocavam uma na outra. 28 E cobriu de ouro os querubins.

29 E todas as paredes da casa ao redor lavrou de esculturas e de entalhes de querubins, e de palmas, e de flores abertas, por dentro e por fora. 30 Também cobriu de ouro o soalho da casa, por dentro e por fora. 31 E, à entrada do oráculo, fez portas de madeira de oliveira; a verga com as ombreiras formavam a quinta parte da parede. 32 Também as duas portas eram da madeira de oliveira; e lavrou nelas entalhes de querubins, e de palmas, e de flores abertas, os quais cobriu de ouro; também estendeu ouro sobre os querubins e sobre as palmas. 33 E assim fez à porta do templo ombreiras de madeira de oliveira, da quarta parte da parede. 34 E eram as duas portas de madeira de faia; e as duas folhas de uma porta eram dobradiças, assim como eram também dobradiças as duas folhas entalhadas das outras portas. 35 E as lavrou de querubins, e de palmas, e de flores abertas e as cobriu de ouro acomodado ao lavor.

36 Também edificou o pátio interior de três ordens de pedras lavradas e de uma ordem de vigas de cedro. 37 No ano quarto, se pôs o fundamento da Casa do Senhor, no mês de zive. 38 E, no ano undécimo, no mês de bul, que é o mês oitavo, se acabou esta casa com todas as suas dependências e com tudo o que lhe convinha; e a edificou em sete anos.
