1 I could wish ye would bear with me as to some little foolishness,Nay! do even bear with me!2 For I am jealous over you with a jealousy, of God; for I myself betrothed you unto one husband, to present, a chaste virgin, unto the Christ,3 But I fear lest, by any means, as, the serpent, completely deceived Eve, in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the singleness and the chasteness which are unto the Christ.4 For, if, indeed, he that cometh, is proclaiming, another Jesus, whom we have not proclaimed, or, a different Spirit, ye are receiving, which ye had not received, or a different glad-message, which ye have never welcomed, ye are, well, bearing.5 For I reckon not to have come a whit behind the exceeding overmuch apostles;6 And, even if uncultured in my discourse, certainly not in my knowledge,but, in every way, having made manifest, in all things, unto you.7 Or, a sin, did I commitabasing, myself, that, ye, might be exalted,in that, free of charge, Gods glad-message, I announced unto you?8 Other assemblies, I despoiled, receiving supplies that I might minister, unto you;9 And, being present with you, and having come short, I was not burdensome to anyone,for, my deficiency, the brethren, coming from Macedonia, helped to make up;and, in everything, without burden unto you, I kept, myselfand will keep!10 Truth of Christ is in me, that, this boasting, shall not be silenced unto me, in the regions of Achaia.11 Wherefore? Because I love you not? God, knoweth!12 But, what I am doing, I also will do,that I may cut off the occasion of them who are wishing an occasion, that, wherein they are boasting themselves, they may be found even as also, we.13 For, such as these, are false apostles, deceitful workers, transfiguring themselves into apostles of Christ.14 And no marvel! for, Satan himself, doth transfigure himself into a messenger of light!15 No great thing, therefore, if, his ministers also, are transfiguring themselves as ministers of righteousness!whose end, shall be according to their works.16 Again, I saylet no one deem me to be, foolish; but, otherwise, at least, as foolish, give me welcome, that, I also, some little, may boast myself.17 What I am saying, not according to the Lord, am I saying, but as in foolishness,in this my boastful confidence!18 Since, many, are boasting after the flesh, I also, will boast;19 For, gladly, do ye bear with the foolish, being , discreet,20 For ye bear with itif anyone enslaveth you, if any devoureth, if anyone taketh, if anyone lifteth himself up, if anyone, on the face, doth smite you!21 By way of disparagement, am I speaking,as though, we, had been weak! whereas, in whatsoever anyone dareth, in foolishness I speak, I also, dare:22 Hebrews, are they? I also, Israelites, are they? I also, seed of Abraham, are they? I also,23 Ministers of Christ, are they? As one deranged I am talking, I, above measure!in toils, superabundantly, in prisons, superabundantly, in stripes, to excess, in deaths, oft,24 From Jews, five times, forty-save-one, have I received,25 Thrice, have I been beaten with rods, once, have I been stoned, thrice, have I been shipwrecked, a day and night, in the deep, have I spent;26 In journeyings oft, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from my own race, in perils from Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the desert, in perils by the sea, in perils among false brethren,27 in toil and hardship, in watchings, oft, in hunger and thirst, in fasting, oft, in cold and nakedness:28 Apart from the things without, my daily care,my anxiety for all the assemblies;29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is caused to stumble, and, I, am not burning?30 If, to boast, is needful, in the things that concern my weakness, will I boast.31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus, knowethHe who is blessed unto the agesthat I am not speaking falsely:32 In Damascus, the governor under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of Damascenes, to apprehend me,33 And, through a window, was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

1 Tomara que me suportásseis um pouco na minha loucura! Suportai-me, porém, ainda. 2 Porque estou zeloso de vós com zelo de Deus; porque vos tenho preparado para vos apresentar como uma virgem pura a um marido, a saber, a Cristo. 3 Mas temo que, assim como a serpente enganou Eva com a sua astúcia, assim também sejam de alguma sorte corrompidos os vossos sentidos e se apartem da simplicidade que há em Cristo. 4 Porque, se alguém for pregar-vos outro Jesus que nós não temos pregado, ou se recebeis outro espírito que não recebestes, ou outro evangelho que não abraçastes, com razão o sofrereis. 5 Porque penso que em nada fui inferior aos mais excelentes apóstolos. 6 E, se sou rude na palavra, não o sou, contudo, na ciência; mas já em tudo nos temos feito conhecer totalmente entre vós.

7 Pequei, porventura, humilhando-me a mim mesmo, para que vós fôsseis exaltados, porque de graça vos anunciei o evangelho de Deus? 8 Outras igrejas despojei eu para vos servir, recebendo delas salário; e, quando estava presente convosco e tinha necessidade, a ninguém fui pesado. 9 Porque os irmãos que vieram da Macedônia supriram a minha necessidade; e em tudo me guardei de vos ser pesado e ainda me guardarei. 10 Como a verdade de Cristo está em mim, esta glória não me será impedida nas regiões da Acaia. 11 Por quê? Porque vos não amo? Deus o sabe. 12 Mas o que eu faço o farei para cortar ocasião aos que buscam ocasião, a fim de que, naquilo em que se gloriam, sejam achados assim como nós. 13 Porque tais falsos apóstolos são obreiros fraudulentos, transfigurando-se em apóstolos de Cristo. 14 E não é maravilha, porque o próprio Satanás se transfigura em anjo de luz. 15 Não é muito, pois, que os seus ministros se transfigurem em ministros da justiça; o fim dos quais será conforme as suas obras.

16 Outra vez digo: ninguém me julgue insensato ou, então, recebei-me como insensato, para que também me glorie um pouco. 17 O que digo, não o digo segundo o Senhor, mas, como por loucura, nesta confiança de gloriar-me. 18 Pois que muitos se gloriam segundo a carne, eu também me gloriarei. 19 Porque, sendo vós sensatos, de boa mente tolerais os insensatos. 20 Pois sois sofredores, se alguém vos põe em servidão, se alguém vos devora, se alguém vos apanha, se alguém se exalta, se alguém vos fere no rosto. 21 Envergonhado o digo, como se nós fôssemos fracos, mas, no que qualquer tem ousadia (com insensatez falo), também eu tenho ousadia. 22 São hebreus? Também eu. São israelitas? Também eu. São descendência de Abraão? Também eu. 23 São ministros de Cristo? (Falo como fora de mim.) Eu ainda mais: em trabalhos, muito mais; em açoites, mais do que eles; em prisões, muito mais; em perigo de morte, muitas vezes. 24 Recebi dos judeus cinco quarentenas de açoites menos um; 25 três vezes fui açoitado com varas, uma vez fui apedrejado, três vezes sofri naufrágio, uma noite e um dia passei no abismo; 26 em viagens, muitas vezes; em perigos de rios, em perigos de salteadores, em perigos dos da minha nação, em perigos dos gentios, em perigos na cidade, em perigos no deserto, em perigos no mar, em perigos entre os falsos irmãos; 27 em trabalhos e fadiga, em vigílias, muitas vezes, em fome e sede, em jejum, muitas vezes, em frio e nudez. 28 Além das coisas exteriores, me oprime cada dia o cuidado de todas as igrejas. 29 Quem enfraquece, que eu também não enfraqueça? Quem se escandaliza, que eu não me abrase?

30 Se convém gloriar-me, gloriar-me-ei no que diz respeito à minha fraqueza. 31 O Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que é eternamente bendito, sabe que não minto. 32 Em Damasco, o que governava sob o rei Aretas pôs guardas às portas da cidade dos damascenos, para me prenderem, 33 e fui descido num cesto por uma janela da muralha; e assim escapei das suas mãos.
