1 And the people of the land took Jehoahaz, son of Josiah,and made him king instead of his father, in Jerusalem.2 Twenty-three years old, was Joahaz when he began to reign,and, three months, reigned he in Jerusalem.3 And the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem,and condemned the land, in a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim,but Neco took, Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.5 Twenty-five years old, was Jehoiakim when he began to reign, and, eleven years, reigned he in Jerusalem,and he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh his God.6 Against him, came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,and bound him in fetters of bronze, to carry him to Babylon.7 And, some of the utensils of the house of Yahweh, did Nebuchadnezzar carry to Babylon,and put them in his own temple in Babylon.8 But, the rest of the story of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he made, and that which was found upon him, there they are, written in the book of the Kings of Israel and Judah,and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.9 Eight years old, was Jehoiachin when he began to reign, and, three months and ten days, reigned he in Jerusalem, and he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh;10 and, when the year came round, King Nebuchadnezzar sent, and carried him to Babylon, with the precious utensils of the house of Yahweh,and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.11 Twenty-one years old, was Zedekiah when he began to reign,and, eleven years, reigned he in Jerusalem.12 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh his God,-he humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet, from the mouth of Yahweh.13 Moreover alsoagainst King Nebuchadnezzar, he rebelled, who had made him swear by God,-and he stiffened his neck, and emboldened his heart, from turning unto Yahweh, God of Israel.14 Also, all the rulers of the priests and of the people, abounded in committing treachery, according to all the abominable ways of the nations,and polluted the house of Yahweh, which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.15 And, though Yahweh God of their fathers sent unto them through his messengers, zealously sending them,because he had compassion upon his people and upon his habitation,16 yet became they mockers of the messengers of God, and despisers of his words, and mimics of his prophets,until the mounting up of the wrath of Yahweh against his people, until there was no healing.17 So he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword, in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or virgin, elder or ancient,-all, delivered he into his hand.18 And, all the utensils of the house of God, both great and small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and of his rulers, the whole, carried he to Babylon;19 and they burned the house of God, and threw down the wall of Jerusalem,and, all the palaces thereof, burned they with fire, and, all the precious vessels thereof, he destroyed;20 and he exiled the remnant left from the sword, into Babylon,where they became his and his sons, as servants, until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:21 to fulfil the word of God, by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had paid off her sabbaths,all the days of her lying desolate, she kept sabbath, to fulfil seventy years.22 But, in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to accomplish the word of God by the mouth of Jeremiah, Yahweh aroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made proclamation throughout all his kingdom, moreover also in writing, saying:23 Thus, saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth, hath Yahweh God of the heavens, given unto me, and, he himself, hath laid charge upon me, to build to him a house, in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people with whom is Yahweh his God? Then let him go up.

1 Então, o povo da terra tomou a Joacaz, filho de Josias, e o fez rei em lugar de seu pai, em Jerusalém. 2 Era Joacaz da idade de vinte e três anos quando começou a reinar e três meses reinou em Jerusalém. 3 Porque o rei do Egito o depôs em Jerusalém e condenou a terra à contribuição de cem talentos de prata e um talento de ouro. 4 E o rei do Egito pôs a Eliaquim, irmão de Joacaz, rei sobre Judá e Jerusalém e mudou-lhe o nome para Jeoaquim; mas a seu irmão Joacaz tomou Neco e levou-o para o Egito.

5 Era Jeoaquim de vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e onze anos reinou em Jerusalém; e fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, seu Deus. 6 Subiu, pois, contra ele Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia e o amarrou com cadeias, para o levar à Babilônia. 7 Também alguns dos utensílios da Casa do Senhor levou Nabucodonosor para a Babilônia e pô-los no seu templo em Babilônia. 8 Quanto ao mais dos atos de Jeoaquim, e às abominações que fez, e ao mais que se achou nele, eis que estão escritos no livro da história dos reis de Israel e de Judá; e Joaquim, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

9 Era Joaquim da idade de oito anos quando começou a reinar e três meses e dez dias reinou em Jerusalém; e fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor.

10 E, no decurso de um ano, o rei Nabucodonosor mandou que o levassem à Babilônia, com também os mais preciosos utensílios da Casa do Senhor, e pôs a Zedequias, seu irmão, rei sobre Judá e Jerusalém.

11 Era Zedequias da idade de vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar e onze anos reinou em Jerusalém. 12 E fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, seu Deus; nem se humilhou perante o profeta Jeremias, que falava da parte do Senhor. 13 Além disso, também se rebelou contra o rei Nabucodonosor, que o tinha ajuramentado por Deus; mas endureceu a sua cerviz e tanto se obstinou no seu coração, que se não converteu ao Senhor, Deus de Israel. 14 Também todos os chefes dos sacerdotes e o povo aumentavam de mais em mais as transgressões, segundo todas as abominações dos gentios; e contaminaram a Casa do Senhor, que ele tinha santificado em Jerusalém.

15 E o Senhor, Deus de seus pais, lhes enviou a sua palavra pelos seus mensageiros, madrugando e enviando-lhos, porque se compadeceu do seu povo e da sua habitação. 16 Porém zombaram dos mensageiros de Deus, e desprezaram as suas palavras, e escarneceram dos seus profetas, até que o furor do Senhor subiu tanto, contra o seu povo, que mais nenhum remédio houve.

17 Porque fez subir contra eles o rei dos caldeus, o qual matou os seus jovens à espada, na casa do seu santuário; e não teve piedade nem dos jovens, nem das moças, nem dos velhos, nem dos decrépitos; a todos os deu nas suas mãos. 18 E todos os utensílios da Casa de Deus, grandes e pequenos, e os tesouros da Casa do Senhor, e os tesouros do rei e dos seus príncipes, tudo levou para a Babilônia. 19 E queimaram a Casa de Deus, e derribaram os muros de Jerusalém, e todos os seus palácios queimaram, destruindo também todos os seus preciosos objetos. 20 E os que escaparam da espada levou para a Babilônia; e fizeram-se servos dele e de seus filhos, até ao tempo do reino da Pérsia, 21 para que se cumprisse a palavra do Senhor, pela boca de Jeremias, até que a terra se agradasse dos seus sábados; todos os dias da desolação repousou, até que os setenta anos se cumpriram.

22 Porém, no primeiro ano de Ciro, rei da Pérsia (para que se cumprisse a palavra do Senhor, pela boca de Jeremias), despertou o Senhor o espírito de Ciro, rei da Pérsia, o qual fez passar pregão por todo o seu reino, como também por escrito, dizendo: 23 Assim diz Ciro, rei da Pérsia: O Senhor, Deus dos céus, me deu todos os reinos da terra e me encarregou de lhe edificar uma casa em Jerusalém, que está em Judá; quem, dentre vós é de todo o seu povo, que suba, e o Senhor, seu Deus, seja com ele.
