1 Paulus, Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes Willen, und Timotheus, der Bruder, an die Gemeinde Gottes, die in Korinth ist, samt allen Heiligen, die in ganz Achaja sind: 2 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unsrem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus! 3 Gelobt sei der Gott und Vater unsres Herrn Jesus Christus, der Vater der Barmherzigkeit und Gott alles Trostes, 4 der uns tröstet in all unsrer Trübsal, auf daß wir die trösten können, welche in allerlei Trübsal sind, durch den Trost, mit dem wir selbst von Gott getröstet werden. 5 Denn gleichwie die Leiden Christi sich reichlich über uns ergießen, so fließt auch durch Christus reichlich unser Trost. 6 Haben wir Trübsal, so geschieht es zu eurem Trost und Heil; werden wir getröstet, so geschieht es zu eurem Trost, der sich kräftig erweist in standhafter Erduldung derselben Leiden, welche auch wir leiden, und unsre Hoffnung für euch ist fest; 7 denn wir wissen, daß, gleichwie ihr der Leiden teilhaftig seid, so auch des Trostes. 8 Denn wir wollen euch, Brüder, nicht in Unkenntnis lassen über die Trübsal, die uns in Asien widerfahren ist, daß wir übermäßig schwer zu tragen hatten, über Vermögen, so daß wir selbst am Leben verzweifelten; 9 ja wir hatten bei uns selbst schon das Todesurteil über uns gefällt, damit wir nicht auf uns selbst vertrauten, sondern auf den Gott, der die Toten auferweckt. 10 Er hat uns denn auch von solchem Tod errettet und rettet uns noch, und wir hoffen auf ihn, daß er uns auch ferner erretten wird, 11 vorausgesetzt, daß auch ihr uns behilflich seid durch eure Fürbitte, damit für die von vielen Personen für uns erbetene Gnadengabe auch von vielen gedankt werde für uns. 12 Denn unser Ruhm ist der: das Zeugnis unsres Gewissens, daß wir in Einfalt und göttlicher Lauterkeit, nicht in fleischlicher Weisheit, sondern in göttlicher Gnade gewandelt sind in der Welt, allermeist aber bei euch. 13 Denn wir schreiben euch nichts anderes, als was ihr leset oder auch erkennet; 14 ich hoffe aber, daß ihr uns bis ans Ende so erkennen werdet, wie ihr uns zum Teil schon kennen gelernt habt, nämlich daß wir euch zum Ruhm gereichen, gleichwie auch ihr uns, am Tage unsres Herrn Jesus. 15 In dieser Zuversicht beabsichtigte ich, zuerst zu euch zu kommen, damit ihr eine doppelte Gunst empfinget; 16 und über eure Stadt wollte ich dann nach Mazedonien ziehen und von Mazedonien wieder zu euch kommen, um von euch nach Judäa geleitet zu werden. 17 Habe ich nun mit Leichtfertigkeit gehandelt, als ich diesen Reiseplan entwarf? Oder mache ich überhaupt meine Pläne nach dem Fleisch, so daß bei mir das Ja Ja auch Nein Nein wäre? 18 Gott aber ist treu, daß unser Wort an euch nicht Ja und Nein ist! 19 Denn der Sohn Gottes, Jesus Christus, der unter euch durch uns gepredigt worden ist, durch mich und Silvanus und Timotheus, der war nicht Ja und Nein, sondern in ihm ist das Ja geworden; 20 denn soviele Gottesverheißungen es gibt, in ihm ist das Ja, und deshalb durch ihn auch das Amen, Gott zum Lobe durch uns! 21 Der Gott aber, der uns samt euch für Christus befestigt und uns gesalbt hat, 22 der hat uns auch versiegelt und in unsre Herzen das Pfand des Geistes gegeben. 23 Ich berufe mich aber auf Gott als Zeugen für meine Seele, daß ich, um euch zu schonen, noch nicht nach Korinth gekommen bin. 24 Denn wir wollen nicht Herren sein über euren Glauben, sondern Gehilfen eurer Freude; denn ihr stehet im Glauben.
