1 So sollst du nun den HERRN, deinen Gott, lieben, und seine Ordnung, seine Satzungen, seine Rechte und Gebote beobachten dein Leben lang. 2 Und ihr sollt heute erkennen (was eure Kinder nicht wissen und nicht gesehen haben) die Zucht des HERRN, eures Gottes, und seine Majestät und seine mächtige Hand und seinen ausgereckten Arm 3 und seine Zeichen und Werke, die er getan hat unter den Ägyptern an dem Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, und an seinem ganzen Land; 4 und was er getan hat an der Heeresmacht der Ägypter, an ihren Rossen und Wagen, da er sie mit dem Wasser des Schilfmeers überschwemmte, als sie euch nachjagten, und wie sie der HERR vertilgte, bis auf diesen Tag; 5 und was er in der Wüste an euch getan hat, bis ihr an diesen Ort gekommen seid; 6 auch was er Datan und Abiram tat, den Söhnen Eliabs, des Sohnes Rubens, wie die Erde ihren Mund auftat und sie verschlang samt ihren Familien und Zelten und ihrem ganzen Anhang, inmitten von ganz Israel. 7 Ja, eure Augen haben die großen Werke des HERRN gesehen, die er getan hat. 8 Darum sollt ihr alle Gebote bewahren, die ich euch heute gebiete, daß ihr erstarket und hineinkommet und das Land erblich besitzet, in das ihr hinüberzieht, um es einzunehmen; 9 und daß ihr lange lebet im Lande, von dem der HERR euren Vätern geschworen hat, daß er es ihnen und ihrem Samen geben werde, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig fließt. 10 Denn das Land, da du hinkommst, um es einzunehmen, ist nicht wie das Land Ägypten, davon ihr ausgezogen seid, da du deinen Samen sätest, und das du mit deinem Fuß wässertest wie einen Gemüsegarten; 11 sondern das Land, dahin ihr ziehet, um es einzunehmen, hat Berge und Täler, die Wasser vom Regen des Himmels trinken. 12 Es ist ein Land, zu welchem der HERR, dein Gott, Sorge trägt; auf welches die Augen des HERRN, deines Gottes, immerdar gerichtet sind, von Anfang bis Ende des Jahres. 13 Werdet ihr nun meinen Geboten fleißig gehorchen, die ich euch heute gebiete, daß ihr den HERRN, euren Gott, liebet und ihm mit ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer Seele dienet, 14 so will ich eurem Lande Regen geben zu seiner Zeit, Frühregen und Spätregen, daß du dein Korn, deinen Most und dein Öl einsammeln kannst. 15 Und ich will deinem Vieh auf deinem Felde Gras geben, daß ihr esset und satt werdet. 16 Hütet euch aber, daß sich euer Herz nicht überreden lasse, daß ihr abtretet und andern Göttern dienet und sie anbetet, 17 und daß alsdann der Zorn des HERRN über euch entbrenne und den Himmel zuschließe, daß kein Regen komme, und die Erde ihr Gewächs nicht gebe, und ihr bald umkommet auf dem guten Land, das euch der HERR gegeben hat! 18 So fasset nun diese meine Worte zu Herzen und in eure Seele, und bindet sie zum Zeichen auf eure Hände, daß sie ein Schmuck seien zwischen euren Augen. 19 Lehret sie eure Kinder, indem ihr davon redet, wenn du in deinem Hause sitzest oder auf dem Wege gehest, wenn du dich niederlegst und wenn du aufstehst. 20 Und schreibe sie auf die Pfosten deines Hauses und an deine Tore, 21 auf daß du und deine Kinder lange leben in dem Lande, von dem der HERR deinen Vätern geschworen hat, daß er es ihnen geben werde, solange der Himmel über der Erde steht. 22 Denn wenn ihr dieses ganze Gesetz, das ich euch gebe, getreulich erfüllt und tut und den HERRN, euren Gott, liebet, wenn ihr in allen seinen Wegen wandelt und ihm anhanget, 23 so wird der HERR alle diese Völker vor euch her vertreiben, so daß ihr größere und stärkere Völker als ihr seid, aus ihrem Besitz verdränget. 24 Alle Orte, darauf eure Fußsohle tritt, sollen euer sein; von der Wüste an, vom Libanon und dem Euphratstrom bis an das westliche Meer soll euer Gebiet reichen. 25 Niemand wird vor euch bestehen; der HERR, euer Gott, wird Furcht und Schrecken vor euch über alle Länder kommen lassen, die ihr betretet, wie er euch versprochen hat. 26 Siehe, ich lege euch heute vor den Segen und den Fluch: 27 den Segen, wenn ihr den Geboten des HERRN, eures Gottes, die ich euch heute gebiete, gehorsam seid: 28 den Fluch aber, wenn ihr den Geboten des HERRN, eures Gottes, nicht gehorsam sein werdet und von dem Wege, den ich euch heute gebiete, abtretet, so daß ihr andern Göttern nachwandelt, die ihr nicht kennet. 29 Und wenn dich der HERR, dein Gott, in das Land bringt, darein du kommst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen, so sollst du den Segen auf dem Berge Garizim sprechen und den Fluch auf dem Berge Ebal. 30 Sind sie nicht jenseits des Jordan, dort, wo die Sonne untergeht, im Lande der Kanaaniter, die auf dem flachen Felde wohnen, Gilgal gegenüber, bei dem Eichenwald More? 31 Denn ihr werdet über den Jordan gehen, daß ihr hineinkommt, das Land einzunehmen, das euch der HERR, euer Gott, gegeben hat; und ihr werdet es in Besitz nehmen und darin wohnen. 32 So achtet nun darauf, daß ihr alle Satzungen und Rechte tut, die ich euch heute vorlege!
