1 Alle Gebote, die ich dir heute gebiete, sollt ihr behalten, um sie zu tun, auf daß ihr lebet und gemehret werdet und hineinkommet und das Land einnehmet, das der HERR euren Vätern geschworen hat. 2 Gedenke auch des ganzen Weges, durch den der HERR, dein Gott, dich geleitet hat diese vierzig Jahre lang in der Wüste, daß er dich demütigte und versuchte, auf daß kundwürde, was in deinem Herzen ist, ob du seine Gebote halten würdest oder nicht. 3 Er demütigte dich und ließ dich hungern und speiste dich mit Manna, das weder du noch deine Väter gekannt hatten, um dir kundzutun, daß der Mensch nicht vom Brot allein lebt, sondern daß er von allem dem lebt, was aus dem Munde des HERRN geht. 4 Deine Kleider sind nicht zerlumpt an dir, und deine Füße sind nicht geschwollen diese vierzig Jahre lang. 5 So erkenne nun in deinem Herzen, daß der HERR, dein Gott, dich gezüchtigt hat, wie ein Mann seinen Sohn züchtigt. 6 Und beobachte die Gebote des HERRN, deines Gottes, daß du in seinen Wegen wandelst und ihn fürchtest; 7 denn der HERR, dein Gott, führt dich in ein gutes Land, in ein Land, darin Wasserbäche, Quellen und Seen sind, die auf den Bergen und in den Tälern entspringen; 8 ein Land, darin Weizen, Gerste, Weinstöcke, Feigenbäume und Granatäpfel sind, ein Land voller Olivenbäume und Honig; 9 ein Land, davon du dich nicht kümmerlich nähren mußt, worin es dir an nichts mangelt; ein Land, dessen Steine Eisen sind, wo du Erz aus den Bergen hauen wirst. 10 Darum, wenn du gegessen hast und satt geworden bist, sollst du den HERRN, deinen Gott, loben für das gute Land, das er dir gegeben hat. 11 Hüte dich, daß du des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht vergessest, so daß du seine Gebote, seine Satzungen und Rechte, die ich dir heute gebiete, nicht beobachtest; 12 daß, wenn du nun gegessen hast und satt geworden bist, und schöne Häuser erbauest und darin wohnest, 13 und deine Rinder und Schafe, Silber und Gold, und alles, was du hast, sich mehren, 14 dein Herz sich alsdann nicht erhebe und du vergessest des HERRN, deines Gottes, der dich aus Ägyptenland, aus dem Diensthause, geführt hat; 15 der dich durch diese große und schreckliche Wüste geleitet hat, da feurige Schlangen waren und Skorpione und Dürre und kein Wasser; der dir auch Wasser aus dem harten Felsen entspringen ließ; 16 der dich in der Wüste mit Manna speiste, von welchem deine Väter nichts wußten, auf daß er dich demütigte und auf die Probe stellte, um dir hernach wohlzutun; 17 und daß du nicht sagest in deinem Herzen: Meine eigene Kraft und meine fleißigen Hände haben mir diesen Reichtum verschafft. 18 Sondern du sollst des HERRN, deines Gottes, gedenken; denn er ist es, der dir Kraft gibt, solchen Reichtum zu erwerben; auf daß er seinen Bund aufrechterhalte, den er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, wie es heute geschieht. 19 Wirst du aber des HERRN, deines Gottes, vergessen und andern Göttern nachfolgen und ihnen dienen und sie anbeten, so bezeuge ich heute über euch, daß ihr gewiß umkommen werdet. 20 Wie die Heiden, die der Herr vor eurem Angesicht umbringt, also werdet auch ihr umkommen, weil ihr der Stimme des HERRN, eures Gottes, nicht gehorsam seid.

6 Nā, kia mau ki ngā whakahau a Ihowā, a tōu Atua, haere hoki i āna huarahi me te wehi anō ki a ia. 7 Nā te mea e kawe ana a Ihowā, tōu Atua, i a koe ki te whenua pai, ki te whenua o ngā awa wai, o ngā puna, o ngā wai hōhonu, e pupū mai ana i ngā raorao, i ngā maunga; 8 ki te whenua o te wīti, o te pārei, o te wāina, o te piki, o te pamekaranete; ki te whenua o te hinu ōriwa, o te honi, 9 ki te whenua e kore ai e onge tāu taro e kai ai koe, e kore rawa ai koe e hapa i tētahi mea; ki te whenua he rino ōna kōhatu, ka keri anō koe i te parāhi i roto i ōna maunga. 10 Ā, ka kai koe, ka mākona, nā, kia whakapai atu koe ki a Ihowā, ki tōu Atua, mō te whenua pai kua hōmai e ia ki a koe.
