1 En vallfartssång; av David. Om HERREN icke hade varit med oss -- så säge Israel --2 om HERREN icke hade varit med oss, när människorna reste sig upp emot oss,3 då hade de uppslukat oss levande, när deras vrede upptändes mot oss;4 då hade vattnen fördränkt oss, strömmen gått över vår själ;5 ja, då hade de gått över vår själ, de svallande vattnen.6 Lovad vare HERREN för att han ej gav oss till rov åt deras tänder!7 Vår själ kom undan såsom en fågel ur fågelfängarnas snara; snaran gick sönder, och vi kommo undan.8 Vår hjälp är i HERRENS namn, hans som har gjort himmel och jord.

2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
