1 Pois quanto à ministração para com os santos, é-me supérfluo escrever-vos;2 porque sei a vossa boa vontade, pela qual de vós me glorio diante dos macedônios, por estar a Acaia pronta desde o ano passado e ter servido o vosso zelo de estímulo à maior parte deles.3 Mas enviei os irmãos, para que neste particular não se tornasse vão o nosso louvor a vosso respeito, a fim de que fôsseis preparados, como eu o disse,4 para não sermos envergonhados nós, por não dizer vós, nesta confiança, se, porventura, forem comigo macedônios e não vos acharem preparados.5 Portanto julguei necessário rogar aos irmãos, que fossem adiante ter convosco, e que preparassem de antemão a vossa liberalidade prometida há tempos, para que assim estivesse pronta, como liberalidade e não como extorsão.6 Mas digo isto: Aquele que semeia pouco, também colherá pouco; e aquele que semeia em abundância, também colherá em abundância.7 Faça cada um conforme resolveu em seu coração, não com tristeza, nem por necessidade; porque Deus ama ao que dá alegremente.8 Deus pode fazer abundar em vós toda a graça, a fim de que, tendo sempre toda a suficiência em tudo, abundeis em toda a boa obra,9 como está escrito: Espalhou, deu aos pobres, A sua justiça permanece para sempre.10 Aquele que supre o semeador de semente e de pão para alimento, suprirá e multiplicará a vossa sementeira, e aumentará os frutos da vossa justiça;11 sendo enriquecidos em tudo para toda a liberalidade, a qual resulta por nós em ações de graças a Deus.12 Pois a ministração deste serviço não somente supre as necessidades dos santos, mas também aumenta mediante muitas ações de graças a Deus;13 visto que pela prova desta ministração eles glorificam a Deus pela obediência da vossa confissão ao Evangelho de Cristo e pela liberalidade da vossa contribuição para eles e para todos;14 enquanto também, orando eles por vós, sentem ardente afeto por vós, por causa da superabundante graça de Deus que há em vós.15 Graças a Deus pelo seu dom inefável.

1 I do not need to write to you any further about the ministry to the saints.2 For I know how willing you are, and I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year, and your enthusiasm has stimulated most of them.3 Now I have sent the brothers so that our boasting about you in this matter may not prove to be an idle boast, and so that you may stand ready, just as I said.4 Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find out that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—in this undertaking.5 Therefore, I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to visit you ahead of me, to make arrangements in advance for this gift you promised, and to have it ready as something given generously and not forced.6 Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.7 Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.8 Besides, God is able to make every blessing of yours overflow for you, so that in every situation you will always have all you need for any good work.9 As it is written, "He scatters everywhere and gives to the poor;his righteousness lasts forever."10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread to eat will also supply you with seed and multiply it and enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.11 In every way you will grow richer and become even more generous, and this will produce thanksgiving to God because of us.12 For this ministry you render is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but it is also overflowing with more and more prayers of thanksgiving to God.13 Because of the proof that this service of yours brings, you will glorify God because of your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and because of your generosity in sharing with them and everyone else.14 And so in their prayers for you they will long for you because of God's exceptional grace that was shown to you.15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
