1 Por isso, tendo este ministério, como alcançamos misericórdia, não desmaiamos;2 porém temos renunciado as coisas ocultas, que são vergonhosas, não andando em astúcia, nem mercadejando com a palavra de Deus, mas pela manifestação da verdade recomendando-nos à consciência de todos os homens diante de Deus.3 Se ainda um véu permanece sobre o nosso Evangelho, naqueles que perecem está o véu,4 nos quais o deus deste mundo cegou as mentes dos incrédulos, para que não lhes raiasse a luz do Evangelho da glória de Cristo, o qual é a imagem de Deus.5 Pois não nos pregamos a nós mesmos, mas a Cristo Jesus como Senhor, e nós mesmos como vossos servos por amor de Jesus.6 Pois Deus que diz: Das trevas brilhará a luz, é quem brilhou em nossos corações para iluminação do conhecimento da glória de Deus na face de Cristo.7 Temos, porém, este tesouro em vasos de barro, a fim de que a excelência do poder seja de Deus, e não venha de nós.8 Em tudo somos atribulados, mas não angustiados; perplexos, mas não desesperados;9 perseguidos, mas não abandonados; derribados, mas não destruídos;10 sempre levando no corpo a mortificação de Jesus, para que também a vida de Jesus seja manifestada em nosso corpo.11 Pois nós que vivemos, estamos sempre entregues à morte por amor de Jesus, para que também a vida de Jesus seja manifestada na nossa carne mortal.12 Assim a morte opera em nós, mas a vida em vós.13 Mas tendo o mesmo espírito da fé, conforme está escrito: Cri, por isso falei; também nós cremos, por isso também falamos,14 sabendo que aquele que ressuscitou ao Senhor Jesus, também nos ressuscitará a nós com Jesus e nos apresentará convosco.15 Pois tudo é por amor de vós, para que a graça, sendo multiplicada por muitos, faça abundar a ação de graças para a glória de Deus.16 Por isso não desmaiamos; mas ainda que em nós pereça o homem exterior, o homem interior renova-se de dia em dia.17 Pois a nossa leve aflição momentânea para nós produz cada vez mais abundantemente um eterno peso de glória,18 enquanto não olhamos para as coisas que se vêem, mas sim para as que se não vêem; porque as coisas que se vêem, são temporais, mas as coisas que se não vêem, são eternas.

1 Therefore, since we have this ministry through the mercy shown to us, we do not get discouraged.2 Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not use trickery or pervert God's word. By clear statements of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience before God.3 So if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are dying.4 In their case, the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe to keep them from seeing the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.5 For we do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as merely your servants for Jesus’ sake.6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Jesus Christ.7 But we have this treasure in clay jars to show that its extraordinary power comes from God and not from us.8 In every way we're troubled but not crushed, frustrated but not in despair,9 persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed.10 We are always carrying around the death of Jesus in our bodies, so that the life of Jesus may be clearly shown in our bodies.11 While we are alive, we are constantly being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be clearly shown in our dying bodies.12 And so death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.13 Now since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with what is written—"I believed, and so I spoke"—we also believe, and so we speak.14 We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to God together with you.15 All this is for your sake so that, as his grace spreads, it will increase the thanksgiving of more and more people to the glory of God.16 That's why we are not discouraged. No, even if our outer man is wearing out, our inner man is being renewed day by day.17 This light, temporary nature of our suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory, far beyond any comparison,18 because we do not look for things that can be seen but for things that cannot be seen. For things that can be seen are temporary, but things that cannot be seen are eternal.
