1 Deu-se-me uma cana semelhante a uma vara, e foi-me dito: Levanta-te, e mede o santuário de Deus e o altar e os que nele adoram.2 Mas o átrio que está fora do santuário, deixa-o, e não o meças, porque foi dado aos gentios. Eles hão de pisar debaixo dos pés a cidade santa por quarenta e dois meses.3 Darei às minhas duas testemunhas que, vestidas de saco, profetizem durante mil e duzentos e sessenta dias.4 Estes são as duas oliveiras e os dois candeeiros, postos diante do Senhor da terra.5 Se alguém lhes quiser fazer dano, da sua boca sairá fogo e devorará os seus inimigos; e se alguém lhes quiser fazer dano, é assim que ele deve ser morto.6 Estes têm o poder de fechar o céu, para que não caia chuva durante os dias da sua profecia; e têm poder de converter as águas em sangue, e de ferir a terra com toda a sorte de pragas todas as vezes que o quiserem.7 Quando tiverem acabado o seu testemunho, a besta que sobe do abismo lhes fará guerra, os vencerá e os matará.8 Os seus cadáveres jazerão nas ruas da grande cidade, a qual espiritualmente se chama Sodoma e Egito, onde também o seu Senhor foi crucificado.9 Dentre os povos, e tribos, e línguas e nações muitos verão os cadáveres durante três dias e meio, e não permitirão que os seus cadáveres sejam dados à sepultura.10 Os habitantes da terra se alegrarão sobre eles, e se regalarão, e enviarão presentes uns aos outros, porque estes dois profetas atormentaram aos que habitavam sobre a terra.11 Passados os três dias e meio, o espírito de vida, vindo de Deus, entrou neles, e sobre os seus pés se levantaram; e grande temor caiu sobre os que os viram.12 Do céu ouviram uma grande voz, dizendo-lhes: Subi para cá. Subiram ao céu em uma nuvem; e os viram os inimigos deles.13 Naquela hora houve um grande terremoto: caiu a décima parte da cidade, e sete mil homens pereceram no terremoto; os mais ficaram aterrorizados e deram glória ao Deus do céu.14 O segundo ai já passou; eis que cedo vem o terceiro.15 O sétimo anjo tocou a trombeta. Houve grandes vozes no céu, dizendo: O reino do mundo passou a ser de nosso Senhor e de seu Cristo, ele reinará pelos séculos dos séculos.16 Os vinte e quatro anciãos, que estão sentados diante de Deus sobre os seus tronos, prostraram-se os seus rostos e adoraram a Deus,17 dizendo: Graças te damos, Senhor Deus Todo-poderoso, que és e que eras; porque tens tomado o teu grande poder, e entraste no teu reino.18 As nações encheram-se de ira, mas veio a tua ira e o tempo de serem julgados os mortos, e de dar a recompensa aos teus servos, os profetas, e aos santos e aos que temem ao teu nome, aos pequenos e aos grandes, e de destruir os destruidores da terra.19 Abriu-se o santuário de Deus, que está no céu, e no seu santuário foi vista a arca da sua aliança. Houve relâmpagos, e vozes, e trovões, e terremoto e tempestade de saraiva.

1 Then I was given a stick like a measuring rod. I was told, "Stand up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count those who worship there.2 But don't measure the courtyard outside the temple. Leave that out, because it is given to the nations, and they will trample the Holy City for forty-two months.3 I will give my two witnesses who wear sackcloth the authority to prophesy for 1,260 days."4 These witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing in the presence of the Lord of the earth.5 And if anyone should want to hurt them, fire comes out of their mouths and burns up their enemies. If anyone wants to hurt them, he must be killed in the same way.6 These witnesses have authority to shut the sky in order to keep rain from falling during the days of their prophesying. They also have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with any plague as often as they desire.7 When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the bottomless pit will wage war against them, conquer them, and kill them.8 Their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.9 For three and a half days some members of the peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will look at their dead bodies and will not allow them to be placed in a tomb.10 Those living on earth will gloat over them, celebrate, and send gifts to each other, because these two prophets had tormented those living on earth.11 But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Those who watched them were terrified.12 Then the witnesses heard a loud voice from heaven calling to them, "Come up here!" So they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.13 At that moment a powerful earthquake struck. One-tenth of the city collapsed, 7,000 people were killed by the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.14 The second catastrophe is over. The third catastrophe is coming very soon.15 When the seventh angel blew his trumpet, there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ,and he will rule forever and ever."16 Then the twenty-four elders who were sitting on their thrones in God's presence fell on their faces and worshiped God.17 They said, "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,who is and who was,because you have taken your great powerand have begun to rule.18 The nations were angry,but your wrath has come. It is time for the dead to be judged—to reward your servants, the prophets, the saints, and all who fear your name,both unimportant and important,and to destroy those who destroy the earth."19 Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen inside his temple. There were flashes of lightning, noises, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.
