1 Ο Κύριος μου είπε: «Τώρα πήγαινε πάλι και πάρε πίσω τη γυναίκα σου που αγαπάς, παρ’ όλο που έχει γίνει μοιχαλίδα, όπως κι εγώ αγαπάω τους Ισραηλίτες, παρ’ όλο που αυτοί έχουν στραφεί σε ξένους θεούς και λαχταράνε τις σταφιδόπιτες*σταφιδόπιτες. Μοιράζονταν στους λατρευτές του Βάαλ κατά τις θρησκευτικές τους τελετές (βλ. Ησ 16:7 και πρβλ. Ιερ 7:18· 44:19).». 2 Έτσι πήγα κι απέκτησα πάλι τη γυναίκα μου, δίνοντας δεκαπέντε αργυρά νομίσματα και ενάμισυ χομόρ κριθάρι. 3 Και της είπα: «Θα μείνεις μαζί μου για πολύν καιρό. Δε θα πηγαίνεις με άλλους άντρες, μα ούτε κι εγώ θα πλαγιάζω μαζί σου». 4 Το ίδιο κι ο λαός του Ισραήλ: Πολύν καιρό θα μείνουν δίχως βασιλιά και δίχως άρχοντες, χωρίς θυσίες, χωρίς τις πέτρινες λατρευτικές στήλες και χωρίς εφώδ και ειδώλια. 5 Πολύ αργότερα θα επιστρέψουν στον Κύριο και θα αποζητήσουν το Θεό τους και τον απόγονο του Δαβίδ, το βασιλιά τους. Θα έρχονται με σεβασμό στον Κύριο και θα δέχονται τ’ αγαθά του.
