1 []2 This is what Yahweh said to me: Make bonds and bars for yourself, and put them on your neck;3 and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the sons of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers that come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah;4 and give them a charge to their masters, saying, Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Thus you{+} will say to your{+} masters:5 I have made the earth, and man and beast that are on the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me.6 And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my slave; and the beasts of the field also I have given him to serve him.7 And all the nations will serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes: and then many nations and great kings will make him their slaves.8 And it will come to pass, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish, says Yahweh, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.9 But as for you{+}, don't listen to your{+} prophets, or to your{+} fortune-tellers, or to your{+} dreamers, or to your{+} psychics, or to your{+} sorcerers, that speak to you{+}, saying, You{+} will not serve the king of Babylon:10 for they prophesy a lie to you{+}, to remove you{+} far from your{+} land, and that I should drive you{+} out, and you{+} should perish.11 But the nation that will bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that [nation] I will let remain in their own land, says Yahweh; and they will till it, and dwell in it.12 And I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your{+} necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.13 Why will you{+} die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?14 And don't listen to the words of the prophets that speak to you{+}, saying, You{+} will not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you{+}.15 For I haven't sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you{+} out, and that you{+} may perish, you{+}, and the prophets that prophesy to you{+}.16 Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Don't listen to the words of your{+} prophets that prophesy to you{+}, saying, Look, the vessels of Yahweh's house will now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you{+}.17 Don't listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: why should this city become a desolation?18 But if they are prophets, and if the word of Yahweh is with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don't go to Babylon.19 For this is what Yahweh of Hosts says concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;21 yes, thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:22 They will be carried to Babylon, and there they will be, until the day that I visit them, says Yahweh; then I will bring them up, and restore them to this place.

1 No início do reinado de Zedequias, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, veio esta palavra a Jeremias da parte do Senhor:2 Assim me ordenou o Senhor: "Faça para você um jugo com cordas e madeira e ponha-o sobre o pescoço.3 Depois mande uma mensagem aos reis de Edom, de Moabe, de Amom, de Tiro e de Sidom, por meio dos embaixadores que vieram a Jerusalém para ver Zedequias, rei de Judá.4 Esta é a mensagem que deverão transmitir aos seus senhores: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel:5 ‘Eu fiz a terra, os seres humanos e os animais que nela estão, com o meu grande poder e com meu braço estendido, e eu a dou a quem eu quiser.6 Agora, sou eu mesmo que entrego todas essas nações nas mãos do meu servo Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia; sujeitei a ele até mesmo os animais selvagens.7 Todas as nações estarão sujeitas a ele, a seu filho e a seu neto; até que chegue a hora em que a terra dele seja subjugada por muitas nações e por reis poderosos.8 " ‘Se, porém, alguma nação ou reino não se sujeitar a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, nem colocar o pescoço sob o seu jugo, eu castigarei aquela nação com a guerra, a fome e a peste’, declara o Senhor, ‘e por meio dele eu a destruirei completamente.9 Não ouçam os seus profetas, os seus adivinhos, os seus intérpretes de sonhos, os seus médiuns e os seus feiticeiros, os quais lhes dizem para não se sujeitar ao rei da Babilônia.10 Porque são mentiras o que eles profetizam para vocês, o que os levará para longe de sua terra. Eu banirei vocês, e vocês perecerão.11 Mas, se alguma nação colocar o pescoço sob o jugo do rei da Babilônia e a ele se sujeitar, então deixarei aquela nação permanecer na sua própria terra para cultivá-la e nela viver’, declara o Senhor".12 Entreguei a mesma mensagem a Zedequias, rei de Judá, dizendo-lhe: Coloquem o pescoço sob o jugo do rei da Babilônia, sujeitem-se a ele e ao seu povo, e vocês viverão.13 Por que razão você e o seu povo morreriam pela guerra, pela fome e pela peste, com as quais o Senhor ameaça a nação que não se sujeitar ao rei da Babilônia?14 Não dêem atenção às palavras dos profetas que dizem que vocês não devem sujeitar-se ao rei da Babilônia; estão profetizando mentiras.15 "Eu não os enviei! ", declara o Senhor. "Eles profetizam mentiras em meu nome. Por isso, eu banirei vocês, e vocês perecerão juntamente com os profetas que lhes estão profetizando".16 Então eu disse aos sacerdotes e a todo este povo: Assim diz o Senhor: "Não ouçam os seus profetas que dizem que em breve os utensílios do templo do Senhor serão trazidos de volta da Babilônia. Eles estão profetizando mentiras".17 Não os ouçam. Sujeitem-se ao rei da Babilônia, e vocês viverão. Por que deveria esta cidade ficar em ruínas?18 Se eles são profetas e têm a palavra do Senhor, que implorem ao Senhor dos Exércitos, pedindo que os utensílios que restam no templo do Senhor no palácio do rei de Judá e em Jerusalém não sejam levados para a Babilônia.19 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos acerca das colunas, do tanque, dos suportes e dos outros utensílios que foram deixados nesta cidade,20 os quais Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, não levou consigo de Jerusalém para a Babilônia, quando exilou Joaquim, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, com os nobres de Judá e de Jerusalém.21 Sim, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel, acerca dos utensílios que restaram no templo do Senhor e no palácio do rei de Judá e em Jerusalém:22 "Serão levados para a Babilônia e ali ficarão até o dia em que eu os quiser buscar", declara o Senhor. "Então os trarei de volta e os restabelecerei a este lugar".
