1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:2 "Dize a Aarão, a seus filhos e a todos os israelitas o seguinte: eis as ordens do Senhor:3 Todo israelita que imolar um boi, uma ovelha ou uma cabra, no acampamento ou fora dele,4 sem apresentá-lo à entrada da tenda de reunião para oferecê-lo ao Senhor diante do seu tabernáculo, será réu do sangue oferecido. Esse homem derramou sangue, e será cortado do meio de seu povo.5 Por isso os israelitas, em lugar de ofereceram os seus sacrifícios no campo, apresentarão as vítimas ao sacerdote, diante do Senhor, à entrada da tenda de reunião, e as oferecerão ao Senhor em sacrifício pacífico.6 O sacerdote derramará o seu sangue sobre o altar do Senhor, à entrada da tenda de reunião, e queimará a gordura em odor agradável ao Senhor.7 Nunca mais oferecerão os seus sacrifícios aos sátiros, com os quais se prostituem. Esta será para eles uma lei perpétua de geração em geração.8 Dir-lhes-ás: todo israelita ou todo estrangeiro que habita no meio deles, e que oferecer um holocausto ou outro sacrifício,9 sem levar a vítima à entrada da tenda de reunião para sacrificá-la ao Senhor, será cortado do meio de seu povo.10 A todo israelita ou a todo estrangeiro, que habita no meio deles, e que comer qualquer espécie de sangue, voltarei minha face contra ele, e exterminá-lo-ei do meio de seu povo.11 Pois a alma da carne está no sangue, e dei-vos esse sangue para o altar, a fim de que ele sirva de expiação por vossas almas, porque é pela alma que o sangue expia.12 Eis por que eu disse aos israelitas: ninguém dentre vós comerá sangue, nem o estrangeiro que habita no meio de vós.13 Se um israelita ou um estrangeiro que habita no meio deles capturar na caça um animal ou pássaro que se possa comer, derramará o seu sangue, e o cobrirá com terra,14 porque a alma de toda carne é o seu sangue, que é sua alma. Eis por que eu disse aos israelitas: não comereis sangue de animal algum, porque a alma de toda carne é o seu sangue; quem o comer será elimitado.15 Toda pessoa, natural ou estrangeira, que comer um animal morto ou dilacerado, lavará suas vestes, banhar-se-á em água e ficará impura até a tarde; e depois será pura.16 Mas, se não lavar as vestes e o corpo, levará sobre si a sua iniqüidade."

1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, saying,3 Any man whatsoever of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or a sheep, or a goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,4 And bringeth it not to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it as an offering unto the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord: as blood–guiltiness shall it be imputed unto that man, blood hath he shed; and that man shall be cut off from among his people.5 In order that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they slay in the open field, and bring them unto the Lord, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and slay them as sacrifices of peace–offerings unto the Lord.6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and he shall burn the fat for a sweet savor unto the Lord.7 So that they shall offer no more their sacrifices unto evil spirits, after which they have gone astray: a statute for ever shall this be unto them throughout their generations.8 And unto them shalt thou say, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who may sojourn among them, that offereth a burnt–offering or a sacrifice,9 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord: even that man shall be cut off from among his people.10 And if there be any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that eateth any manner of blood: I will set my face against the person that eateth the blood, and I will cut him off from among his people.11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have appointed it for you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls; for the blood it is that maketh an atonement for the soul.12 Therefore have I said unto the children of Israel, No one of you shall eat blood, and the stranger that sojourneth among you shall not eat blood.13 And if there be any man whatsoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who catcheth by hunting any beast or fowl that may be eaten: then shall he pour out the blood thereof, and cover it up with dust.14 For the life of all flesh is its blood, on which its life dependeth; therefore have I said unto the children of Israel, The blood of every manner of flesh shall ye not eat; for the life of all flesh is its blood, every one who eateth it shall be cut off.15 And every person that eateth that which hath died of itself, or that which was torn by beasts, be this one born in your own country, or a stranger, shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening, when he shall be clean.16 But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh, then shall he bear his iniquity.
