1 "Não fareis ídolos. Não levantareis estátuas nem estelas, e não poreis em vossa terra pedra alguma adornada de figuras, para vos prostrardes diante dela, porque eu sou o Senhor, vosso Deus.2 Guardareis os meus sábados e reverenciareis o meu santuário. Eu sou o Senhor.3 Se seguirdes minhas leis e guardardes os meus preceitos e os praticardes, eu vos darei as chuvas nos seus tempos.4 A terra dará o seu produto e as árvores da terra se carregarão de frutos.5 A debulha do trigo prolongar-se-á até a vindima, e a vindima até a sementeira; comereis o vosso pão à saciedade, e habitareis em segurança na vossa terra.6 Darei paz à vossa terra, e vosso sono não será perturbado. Afastarei da terra os animais nocivos, e a espada não passará pela vossa terra.7 Quando perseguirdes os vossos inimigos, cairão sob vossa espada.8 Cinco dentre vós perseguirão um cento, e cem dos vossos perseguirão dez mil, e os vossos inimigos cairão sob vossa espada.9 Eu me voltarei para vós, e vos farei crescer; multiplicar-vos-ei e ratificarei a minha aliança convosco.10 Comereis as colheitas antigas, bem conservadas, e lançareis fora as velhas, para dar lugar às novas.11 Porei o meu tabernáculo no meio de vós, e a minha alma não vos rejeitará.12 Andarei entre vós: serei o vosso Deus e vós sereis o meu povo.13 Eu sou o Senhor, vosso Deus, que vos tirei do Egito para livrar-vos da escravidão. Quebrei as cadeias de vosso jugo, e vos fiz andar com a cabeça erguida.14 Mas se não me escutardes e não guardardes os meus mandamentos,15 se desprezardes os meus preceitos e vossa alma aborrecer as minhas leis, de sorte que não pratiqueis todos os meus mandamentos e violeis minha aliança, eis como vos hei de tratar:16 enviarei terríveis flagelos sobre vós: a tísica e a febre que empanarão vosso olhar e vos farão desfalecer. Debalde semeareis a vossa semente, porque vossos inimigos a comerão.17 Voltarei minha face contra vós e sereis vencidos pelos vossos inimigos: eles vos dominarão, e fugireis sem que ninguém vos persiga.18 Se nem ainda assim me ouvirdes, castigar-vos-ei sete vezes mais pelos vossos pecados.19 Quebrarei o orgulho de vosso poder, tornarei o vosso céu como ferro e a vossa terra como bronze.20 Inutilmente se gastará a vossa força, pois vossa terra não dará os seus produtos, e as árvores da terra não produzirão os seus frutos.21 Se me puserdes obstáculos e não quiserdes ouvir-me, ferir-vos-ei sete vezes mais, conforme os vossos pecados.22 Mandarei contra vós as feras do campo, que devorarão vossos filhos, matarão vossos animais e vos reduzirão a um pequeno número, de modo que os vossos caminhos se tornarão desertos.23 Se apesar desses castigos não vos quiserdes corrigir, e vos obstinardes em resistir-me,24 eu vos resistirei por minha vez e vos ferirei sete vezes mais, por causa dos vossos pecados.25 Farei cair sobre vós a espada para vingar a minha aliança. Se vos ajuntardes em vossas cidades, lançarei a peste no meio de vós e sereis entregues nas mãos de vossos inimigos.26 Tirar-vos-ei o pão, vosso sustentáculo, de tal sorte que dez mulheres o cozerão em um só forno e vo-lo entregarão por peso; comereis e não ficareis saciados.27 Se, apesar disso, não me ouvirdes, e me resistirdes ainda,28 marcharei contra vós em meu furor e vos castigarei sete vezes mais, por causa dos vossos pecados.29 Comereis a carne de vossos filhos e de vossas filhas.30 Destruirei vossos lugares altos e quebrarei vossas estelas solares; amontoarei vossos cadáveres sobre os de vossos ídolos, e minha alma vos abominará.31 Reduzirei a deserto as vossas cidades, devastarei vossos santuários e não aspirarei mais o suave odor de vossos perfumes.32 Desolarei vossa terra e vossos inimigos ficarão estupefatos com ela quando a habitarem.33 Eu vos dispersarei entre as nações, e desembainharei a espada atrás de vós; vossa terra será devastada e vossas cidades se tornarão desertas.34 Então gozará a terra os seus sábados enquanto durar a sua solidão, quando estiverdes na terra de vossos inimigos; então a terra gozará os seus sábados e repousará.35 Nos dias em que for devastada, ela terá o repouso que não gozou nos sábados do tempo em que a habitáveis.36 Naqueles dentre vós que sobreviverem, porei tal espanto em seus corações na terra de seus inimigos, que o ruído de uma folha agitada pelo vento os porá em fuga: fugirão como se foge diante da espada e cairão sem que ninguém os persiga.37 Sem que ninguém os persiga, tropeçarão uns sobre os outros, como diante da espada. Não podereis resistir aos vossos inimigos.38 Perecereis entre as nações e a terra inimiga vos consumirá.39 Os que sobreviverem consumir-se-ão por causa de suas iniqüidades na terra de seus inimigos, e serão também consumidos por causa das iniqüidades de seus pais, que levarão sobre si.40 Eles confessarão, então, as suas iniqüidades e as de seus pais, as transgressões cometidas contra mim, porque me resistiram;41 e, por isso, eu também lhes resisti e os levei para a terra de seus inimigos. Se, então, humilharem o seu coração incircunciso e sofrerem a pena de sua iniqüidade,42 eu me lembrarei de minha aliança com Jacó, de minha aliança com Isaac e com Abraão, e lembrar-me-ei dessa terra.43 E, depois que eles a tiverem deixado, esta terra gozará os seus sábados enquanto for devastada longe deles; eles sofrerão a pena de suas iniqüidades, porque desprezaram os meus mandamentos e a sua alma feriu as minhas leis.44 Apesar de tudo isso, quando estiverem na terra de seus inimigos, não os rejeitarei, nem os abominarei a ponto de exterminá-los e de romper minha aliança com eles; porque eu sou o Senhor, seu Deus.45 Lembrar-me-ei de minha aliança com seus pais, quando os tirei do Egito à vista das nações, para ser o seu Deus. Eu sou o Senhor."46 Tais são as ordenações, os mandamentos e as leis que o Senhor estabeleceu entre ele e os israelitas, por intermédio de Moisés, no monte Sinai.

1 Ye shall not make yourselves any idols, and a graven image, or a standing image shall ye not rear up unto you, and any carved stone shall you not place in your land, to bow down upon it; for I am the Eternal your God.2 My sabbaths shall ye keep, and my sanctuary shall ye reverence: I am the Lord.3 If in my statutes ye walk, and if my commandments ye keep, and do them:4 Then will I give you rains in their due season, and the earth shall yield her products, and the tree of the field shall yield its fruit.5 And the threshing shall reach with you unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto sowing–time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and ye shall dwell in safety in your land.6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, with none to make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts out of the land, and the sword shall not pass through your land.7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.8 And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.9 And I will turn myself unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you; and I will establish my covenant with you.10 And ye shall eat very old store, and the old shall ye remove away because of the new.11 And I will set my dwelling among you; and my soul shall not loath you.12 And I will walk among you, and I will be to you a God, and ye shall be to me a people.13 I am the Eternal your God, who have brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bond–men; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and caused you to walk upright.14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;15 And if my statutes ye despise, and if my ordinances your soul loath, so as not to do all my commandments, in that ye break my covenant:16 Then will I also do this unto you, and I will inflict on you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart; and ye shall sow in vain your seed, for your enemies shall eat it.17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be struck down before your enemies: and they that hate you shall bear rule over you; and ye shall flee while there is no one pursuing you.18 And if with these things even ye will not yet hearken unto me: then will I chastise you yet more, sevenfold for your sins.19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as copper:20 And in vain shall your strength be spent; for your land shall not yield her products, and the tree of the land shall not yield its fruit.21 And if ye walk yet contrary unto me, and if you refuse to hearken unto me: then will I bring more plagues upon you, sevenfold according to your sins.22 And I will send out against you the beasts of the field, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and diminish yourselves; so that your roads shall be desolate.23 And if notwithstanding these things ye will not be reformed by me, and walk contrary unto me:24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and I also will punish you, sevenfold for your sins.25 And I will bring over you the sword, avenging the quarrel of my covenant, so that ye shall be gathered together within your cities; and then will I send the pestilence among you, that ye shall deliver yourselves into the hand of the enemy;26 When I break unto you the staff of bread; and ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight; and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.27 And if notwithstanding this ye will not hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me:28 Then will I also walk contrary unto you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you, sevenfold for your sins.29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.30 And I will destroy your high–places, and cut down your sun–images, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and my soul shall loath you.31 And I will render your cities a waste, and I will make desolate your sanctuaries, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.32 And I will surely make desolate the land: and your enemies who dwell therein shall be astonished at it.33 And you will I scatter among the nations, and I will draw out after you the sword; and your land shall be a desolate wild, and your cities shall be a waste.34 Then shall the land satisfy its sabbaths, all the days of its desolation, when ye are in the land of your enemies: then shall the land rest, and satisfy its sabbaths.35 All the days of its desolation shall it rest, the time which it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.36 And regarding those that are left of you, I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a leaf shaken shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from the sword; and they shall fall with none pursuing.37 And they shall stumble one over the other, as before the sword, without one pursuing: and ye shall have no power to stand up before your enemies.38 And ye shall be lost among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall consume you.39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in the land of your enemies; and also through the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.40 And they shall then confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, that through their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that because they had walked contrary unto me:41 I also had to walk contrary unto them, and to bring them into the land of their enemies; and then shall their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and then shall they satisfy their iniquity.42 And I will then remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and the land will I remember.43 For the land shall be forsaken by them, and shall satisfy its sabbaths, while it lieth desolate without them, and they shall satisfy their iniquity; because, even because my ordinances they despised, and my statutes their soul loathed.44 And yet for all that, though they be in the land of their enemies, will I not cast them away, neither will I loath them, to destroy them utterly, to break my covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.45 But I will remember for their sakes the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations, that I might be unto them a God: I am the Lord.46 These are the statutes and ordinances and laws, which the Lord made between him and the children of Israel on mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
