1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Dize aos israelitas o seguinte:2 quando uma mulher der à luz um menino será impura durante sete dias, como nos dias de sua menstruação.3 No oitavo dia far-se-á a circuncisão do menino.4 Ela ficará ainda trinta e três dias no sangue de sua purificação; não tocará coisa alguma santa, e não irá ao santuário até que se acabem os dias de sua purificação.5 Se ela der á luz uma menina, será impura durante duas semanas, como nos dias de sua menstruação, e ficará sessenta e seis dias no sangue de sua purificação.6 Cumpridos esses dias, por um filho ou por uma filha, apresentará ao sacerdote, à entrada da tenda de reunião, um cordeiro de um ano em holocausto, e um pombinho ou uma rola em sacrifícios pelo pecado.7 O sacerdote os oferecerá ao Senhor, e fará a expiação por ela, que será purificada do fluxo de seu sangue. Tal é a lei relativa à mulher que dá à luz um menino ou uma menina.8 Se as suas posses não lhe permitirem trazer um cordeiro, tomará duas rolas ou dois pombinhos, uma para o holocausto e outro para o sacrifício pelo pecado. O sacerdote fará por ela a expiação, e será purificada".

1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a male child: then shall she be unclean seven days, even as in the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.3 And on the eighth day shall the flesh of his foreskin be circumcised.4 And thirty and three days shall she then continue in the blood of her purification; any thing hallowed shall she not touch, and into the sanctuary shall she not come, until the days of her purification be at an end.5 But if she bear a female child, then shall she be unclean two weeks as in her separation; and sixty and six days shall she continue in the blood of the purification.6 And at the completion of the days of her purification, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a sheep of the first year for a burnt–offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtle–dove, for a sin–offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest.7 And he shall bring it near before the Lord, and make an atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood: this is the law for her that hath given birth to a male or to a female.8 And if her means will not suffice for a lamb, then shall she take two turtle–doves, or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt–offering, and the other for a sin–offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
