Lover

1 I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride.

I have gathered my myrrh with my spice;

I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;

I have drunk my wine with my milk.

Friends

Eat, friends!

Drink, yes, drink abundantly, beloved.

Beloved

2 I was asleep, but my heart was awake.

It is the voice of my beloved who knocks:

"Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled;

for my head is filled with dew,

and my hair with the dampness of the night."

3 I have taken off my robe. Indeed, must I put it on?

I have washed my feet. Indeed, must I soil them?

4 My beloved thrust his hand in through the latch opening.

My heart pounded for him.

5 I rose up to open for my beloved.

My hands dripped with myrrh,

my fingers with liquid myrrh,

on the handles of the lock.

6 I opened to my beloved;

but my beloved left, and had gone away.

My heart went out when he spoke.

I looked for him, but I didn’t find him.

I called him, but he didn’t answer.

7 The watchmen who go about the city found me.

They beat me.

They bruised me.

The keepers of the walls took my cloak away from me.

8 I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem,

If you find my beloved,

that you tell him that I am faint with love.

Friends

9 How is your beloved better than another beloved,

you fairest among women?

How is your beloved better than another beloved,

that you do so adjure us?

Beloved

10 My beloved is white and ruddy.

The best among ten thousand.

11 His head is like the purest gold.

His hair is bushy, black as a raven.

12 His eyes are like doves beside the water brooks,

washed with milk, mounted like jewels.

13 His cheeks are like a bed of spices with towers of perfumes.

His lips are like lilies, dropping liquid myrrh.

14 His hands are like rings of gold set with beryl.

His body is like ivory work overlaid with sapphires.

15 His legs are like pillars of marble set on sockets of fine gold.

His appearance is like Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.

16 His mouth is sweetness;

yes, he is altogether lovely.

This is my beloved, and this is my friend,

daughters of Jerusalem.

Te Tāne

1 Kua tae mai ahau ki tāku kāri, e tōku tuahine, e tōku hoa;

kua oti tāku maira me tāku kīnaki kakara te kohi,

kua kainga e ahau tāku honikoma me tāku honi;

kua inumia e ahau tāku wāina me tāku waiū.

Ngā Hoa

E kai, e ōku hoa; e inu,

inā, kia nui te inu, e tāku e aroha nei.

He Moemoeā anō

Te Wahine

2 I te moe ahau, ko tōku ngākau ia i te oho.

Ko te reo tēnei o tāku e aroha nei e pātuki ana,

e mea ana, "Te tatau ki ahau, e tōku tuahine, e tōku hoa,

e tāku kūkupa, e tāku mea pokekore;

tonu hoki tōku māhunga i te tōmairangi,

ōku makawe anō hoki i ngā kōpata o te ."

3 Kua oti tōku koti te unu e ahau;

me pēhea e kākahuria ai anō?

Kua oti ōku waewae te horoi;

kia whakaparua anō koia e ahau?

4 I kuhua mai tōna ringa e tāku e aroha nei i te kōhao o te tatau,

ā, oho ana tōku manawa mōna.

5 I ara atu ahau ki te uaki i te tatau ki tāku i aroha ai;

māturuturu ana te maira i ōku ringa,

te maira waiwai i ōku maihao

ki ngā puritanga o te tūtaki.

6 Uakina ana e ahau ki tāku i aroha ai;

heoi kua maunu atu tāku i aroha ai, ā, kua riro.

Tōku wairua riro i tāna kupu.

I rapu ahau i a ia, heoi kīhai i kitea;

i karangatia atu ia e ahau, kīhai anō ia i whakahoki kupu mai.

7 I tūtaki ki ahau ngā kaitiaki e kōpikopiko nei i te ;

patua ana ahau e rātou, mamae ana ahau i a rātou;

tangohia ana tōku hīpoki i ahau

e ngā kaitiaki o ngā taiepa.

8 He atu tēnei nāku ki a koutou, e ngā tamāhine o Hiruhārama,

he aha te nuinga ake o tāu i aroha ai i tētahi atu e arohaina ana?

He aha te nuinga ake o tāu i aroha ai i tētahi atu e arohaina ana,

i pēnā ai tāu mai ki a mātou?

Te Wahine

10 He tāku i aroha ai, he kiri wherowhero,

ko te mea nui rawa o ngā mano kotahi tekau.

11 Ko tōna māhunga kei te tino kōura, he mea parakore,

ko ōna makawe he māwhatu,

ā, mangu tonu, ānō he raweni.

12 Ko ōna kanohi kei o ngā kūkupa

i te taha o ngā awa wai,

he mea horoi ki te waiū,

pai rawa te whakanoho.

13 Ko ōna pāpāringa, ānō he tupuranga kīnaki kakara,

ānō he rārangi tarutaru reka.

Ko ōna ngutu, me te mea he rengarenga

e whakamāturu iho ana i te wai maira.

14 Ko ōna ringa, ānō he mōwhiti kōura

i whakanohoia he perira ki roto.

Ko tōna tinana, kei te rei pai rawa,

he mea whakakikorua ki te hāpira.

15 Ko ōna waewae, rite tonu ki te pou mapere,

he mea whakatū ki ngā tūranga kōura pai rawa.

Ko tōna āhua koia anō kei Repanōna,

me te hīta te tino pai rawa.

16 Ko tōna māngai he tino reka;

āe , he āhuareka katoa ia.

Ko tāku tēnei i aroha ai, ko tōku hoa anō tēnei,

e ngā tamāhine o Hiruhārama.
