1 Veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo: 2 Filho do homem, profetiza contra os profetas de Israel que, profetizando, exprimem, como dizes, o que lhes vem do coração. Ouvi a palavra do Senhor. 3 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Ai dos profetas loucos, que seguem o seu próprio espírito sem nada ter visto! 4 Os teus profetas, ó Israel, são como raposas entre as ruínas. 5 Não subistes às brechas, nem fizestes muros para a casa de Israel, para que ela permaneça firme na peleja no Dia do Senhor. 6 Tiveram visões falsas e adivinhação mentirosa os que dizem: O Senhor disse; quando o Senhor os não enviou; e esperam o cumprimento da palavra. 7 Não tivestes visões falsas e não falastes adivinhação mentirosa, quando dissestes: O Senhor diz, sendo que eu tal não falei?

8 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Como falais falsidade e tendes visões mentirosas, por isso, eu sou contra vós outros, diz o Senhor Deus. 9 Minha mão será contra os profetas que têm visões falsas e que adivinham mentiras; não estarão no conselho do meu povo, não serão inscritos nos registros da casa de Israel, nem entrarão na terra de Israel. Sabereis que eu sou o Senhor Deus. 10 Visto que andam enganando, sim, enganando o meu povo, dizendo: Paz, quando não há paz, e quando se edifica uma parede, e os profetas a caiam, 11 dize aos que a caiam que ela ruirá. Haverá chuva de inundar. Vós, ó pedras de saraivada, caireis, e tu, vento tempestuoso, irromperás. 12 Ora, eis que, caindo a parede, não vos dirão: Onde está a cal com que a caiastes? 13 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Tempestuoso vento farei irromper no meu furor, e chuva de inundar haverá na minha ira, e pedras de saraivada, na minha indignação, para a consumir. 14 Derribarei a parede que caiastes, darei com ela por terra, e o seu fundamento se descobrirá; quando cair, perecereis no meio dela e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor. 15 Assim, cumprirei o meu furor contra a parede e contra os que a caiaram e vos direi: a parede já não existe, nem aqueles que a caiaram, 16 os profetas de Israel que profetizaram a respeito de Jerusalém e para ela têm visões de paz, quando não há paz, diz o Senhor Deus.

17 Tu, ó filho do homem, põe-te contra as filhas do teu povo que profetizam de seu coração, profetiza contra elas 18 e dize: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Ai das que cosem invólucros feiticeiros para todas as articulações das mãos e fazem véus para cabeças de todo tamanho, para caçarem almas! Querereis matar as almas do meu povo e preservar outras para vós mesmas? 19 Vós me profanastes entre o meu povo, por punhados de cevada e por pedaços de pão, para matardes as almas que não haviam de morrer e para preservardes com vida as almas que não haviam de viver, mentindo, assim, ao meu povo, que escuta mentiras.

20 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Eis aí vou eu contra vossos invólucros feiticeiros, com que vós caçais as almas como aves, e as arrancarei de vossas mãos; soltarei livres como aves as almas que prendestes. 21 Também rasgarei os vossos véus e livrarei o meu povo das vossas mãos, e nunca mais estará ao vosso alcance para ser caçado; e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor. 22 Visto que com falsidade entristecestes o coração do justo, não o havendo eu entristecido, e fortalecestes as mãos do perverso para que não se desviasse do seu mau caminho e vivesse, 23 por isso, já não tereis visões falsas, nem jamais fareis adivinhações; livrarei o meu povo das vossas mãos, e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor.

1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah: 3 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4 O Israel, thy prophets have been like foxes in the waste places. 5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the day of Jehovah. 6 They have seen falsehood and lying divination, that say, Jehovah saith; but Jehovah hath not sent them: and they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed. 7 Have ye not seen a false vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, in that ye say, Jehovah saith; albeit I have not spoken?

8 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have spoken falsehood, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord Jehovah. 9 And my hand shall be against the prophets that see false visions, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the council of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. 10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one buildeth up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar: 11 say unto them that daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it. 12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it? 13 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my wrath; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it. 14 So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be uncovered; and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered mortar; and I will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it; 16 to wit, the prophets of Israel that prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and that see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord Jehovah.

17 And thou, son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, that prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18 and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the women that sew pillows upon all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves? 19 And ye have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hearken unto lies.

20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 22 Because with lies ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad, and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive; 23 Therefore ye shall no more see false visions, nor divine divinations: and I will deliver my people out of your hand; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

1 The word of the LORD came to me:

2 "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: 'Hear the word of the LORD!

3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish "prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

4 Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

5 You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD.

6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the LORD has not sent them, they say, "The LORD declares," and expect him to fulfill their words.

7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, "The LORD declares," though I have not spoken?

8 "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD.

9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

10 "'Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,

11 therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.

12 When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, "Where is the whitewash you covered it with?"

13 "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury.

14 I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it "falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the LORD.

15 So I will pour out my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, "The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it,

16 those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD."'

17 "Now, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them

18 and say, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own?

19 You have profaned me among my people for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.

20 "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds.

21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

22 Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives,

23 therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will save my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the LORD.'"
