1 Tu, ó filho do homem, toma uma espada afiada; como navalha de barbeiro a tomarás e a farás passar pela tua cabeça e pela tua barba; tomarás uma balança de peso e repartirás os cabelos. 2 Uma terça parte queimarás, no meio da cidade, quando se cumprirem os dias do cerco; tomarás outra terça parte e a ferirás com uma espada ao redor da cidade; e a outra terça parte espalharás ao vento; desembainharei a espada atrás deles. 3 Desta terça parte tomarás uns poucos e os atarás nas abas da tua veste. 4 Destes ainda tomarás alguns, e os lançarás no meio do fogo, e os queimarás; dali sairá um fogo contra toda a casa de Israel.

5 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Esta é Jerusalém; pu-la no meio das nações e terras que estão ao redor dela. 6 Ela, porém, se rebelou contra os meus juízos, praticando o mal mais do que as nações e transgredindo os meus estatutos mais do que as terras que estão ao redor dela; porque rejeitaram os meus juízos e não andaram nos meus estatutos. 7 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Porque sois mais rebeldes do que as nações que estão ao vosso redor e não tendes andado nos meus estatutos, nem cumprido os meus juízos, nem procedido segundo os direitos das nações ao redor de vós, 8 por isso, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Eis que eu, eu mesmo, estou contra ti; e executarei juízos no meio de ti, à vista das nações. 9 Farei contigo o que nunca fiz e o que jamais farei, por causa de todas as tuas abominações. 10 Portanto, os pais devorarão a seus filhos no meio de ti, e os filhos devorarão a seus pais; executarei em ti juízos e tudo o que restar de ti espalharei a todos os ventos. 11 Portanto, tão certo como eu vivo, diz o Senhor Deus, pois que profanaste o meu santuário com todas as tuas coisas detestáveis e com todas as tuas abominações, eu retirarei, sem piedade, os olhos de ti e não te pouparei. 12 Uma terça parte de ti morrerá de peste e será consumida de fome no meio de ti; outra terça parte cairá à espada em redor de ti; e a outra terça parte espalharei a todos os ventos e desembainharei a espada atrás dela.

13 Assim, se cumprirá a minha ira, e satisfarei neles o meu furor e me consolarei; saberão que eu, o Senhor, falei no meu zelo, quando cumprir neles o meu furor. 14 Pôr-te-ei em desolação e por objeto de opróbrio entre as nações que estão ao redor de ti, à vista de todos os que passarem. 15 Assim, serás objeto de opróbrio e ludíbrio, de escarmento e espanto às nações que estão ao redor de ti, quando eu executar em ti juízos com ira e indignação, em furiosos castigos. Eu, o Senhor, falei. 16 Quando eu despedir as malignas flechas da fome contra eles, flechas destruidoras, que eu enviarei para vos destruir, então, aumentarei a fome sobre vós e vos tirarei o sustento de pão. 17 Enviarei sobre vós a fome e bestas-feras que te desfilharão; a peste e o sangue passarão por ti, e trarei a espada sobre ti. Eu, o Senhor, falei.

1 And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp sword; as a barber’s razor shalt thou take it unto thee, and shalt cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair. 2 A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, and smite with the sword round about it; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them. 3 And thou shalt take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts. 4 And of these again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

5 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are round about her. 6 And she hath rebelled against mine ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her; for they have rejected mine ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them. 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye are turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept mine ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you; 8 therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I, even I, am against thee; and I will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations. 9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations. 10 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments on thee; and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter unto all the winds. 11 Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, and I also will have no pity. 12 A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and a third part I will scatter unto all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them.

13 Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I shall be comforted: and they shall know that I, Jehovah, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath upon them. 14 Moreover I will make thee a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by. 15 So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments on thee in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes (I, Jehovah, have spoken it); 16 when I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you. And I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread; 17 and I will send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

1 "Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber's razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair.

2 When the days of your siege come to an end, burn a third of the hair inside the city. Take a third and strike it with the sword all around the city. And scatter a third to the wind. For I will pursue them with drawn sword.

3 But take a few hairs and tuck them away in the folds of your garment.

4 Again, take a few of these and throw them into the fire and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all Israel.

5 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: This is Jerusalem, which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.

6 Yet in her wickedness she has rebelled against my laws and decrees more than the nations and countries around her. She has rejected my laws and has not followed my decrees.

7 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: You have been more unruly than the nations around you and have not followed my decrees or kept my laws. You have not even "conformed to the standards of the nations around you.

8 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will inflict punishment on you in the sight of the nations.

9 Because of all your detestable idols, I will do to you what I have never done before and will never do again.

10 Therefore in your midst parents will eat their children, and children will eat their parents. I will inflict punishment on you and will scatter all your survivors to the winds.

11 Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your vile images and detestable practices, I myself will shave you; I will not look on you with pity or spare you.

12 A third of your people will die of the plague or perish by famine inside you; a third will fall by the sword outside your walls; and a third I will scatter to the winds and pursue with drawn sword.

13 "Then my anger will cease and my wrath against them will subside, and I will be avenged. And when I have spent my wrath on them, they will know that I the LORD have spoken in my zeal.

14 "I will make you a ruin and a reproach among the nations around you, in the sight of all who pass by.

15 You will be a reproach and a taunt, a warning and an object of horror to the nations around you when I inflict punishment on you in anger and in wrath and with stinging rebuke. I the LORD have spoken.

16 When I shoot at you with my deadly and destructive arrows of famine, I will shoot to destroy you. I will bring more and more famine upon you and cut off your supply of food.

17 I will send famine and wild beasts against you, and they will leave you childless. Plague and bloodshed will sweep through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I the LORD have spoken."
