4 懒惰人渴求， 却一无所得； 殷勤人必得丰裕。
5 义人恨恶虚假， 恶人行事， 遗臭贻羞。
6 正义护卫行为完全的人； 邪恶却使犯罪的人倾覆。
7 有人自充富足， 却一无所有； 有人假装贫穷， 财物却极多。
8 人的财富是他性命的赎价， 穷人却听不见威吓的话。
9 义人的光必明亮， 恶人的灯必熄灭。
10 傲慢只能引起争端； 接受劝告的却有智慧。
11 不劳而获的财物， 必快减少； 慢慢积蓄的， 必然增多。
12 所盼望的迟延未得， 令人心忧； 所愿的来到， 好比生命树。
13 藐视训言的， 必自取灭亡； 敬畏诫命的， 必得善报。
14 智慧人的训诲是生命的泉源， 能使人避开死亡的网罗。
15 聪颖的明慧使人蒙恩， 奸诈人的道路崎岖难行。
16 精明的人都按知识行事， 愚昧人却显露自己的愚妄。
17 奸恶的使者， 必陷在祸患里（"必陷在祸患里"或译： "必使人陷在祸患里"）； 忠心的使臣， 使人复原。
18 轻忽管教的， 必致穷乏受辱； 看重责备的， 必得尊荣。
19 所愿的成功， 使人心里甘甜； 远离恶事， 却为愚昧人憎恶。
20 与智慧人同行的， 必得智慧； 与愚昧人为友的， 必受亏损。
21 祸患追赶罪人， 义人必得善报。
22 善人给子孙留下产业， 罪人的财富， 却是为义人积藏。
23 穷人的耕地可产大量粮食， 却因不义都被摧毁了。
24 不用杖责打儿子的， 是恨恶他； 爱儿子的， 必对他勤加管教。
25 义人必吃得饱足， 恶人却空着肚子。

But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth;
But the soul of the treacherous shall eat violence.
3 He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life;
But he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 A righteous man hateth lying;
But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way;
But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing:
There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches;
But the poor heareth no threatening.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth;
But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 By pride cometh only contention;
But with the well-advised is wisdom.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished;
But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick;
But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13 Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself;
But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life,
That one may depart from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding giveth favor;
But the way of the transgressor is hard.
16 Every prudent man worketh with knowledge;
But a fool flaunteth his folly.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into evil;
But a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth correction;
But he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul;
But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 Walk with wise men, and thou shalt be wise;
But the companion of fools shall smart for it.
21 Evil pursueth sinners;
But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children;
And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor;
But there is that is destroyed by reason of injustice.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son;
But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul;
But the belly of the wicked shall want.
